A Study of the Common Cultural Feature and Cultural Conflict between English and Chinese Culture through Comparing the Similarities and Differences between English and Chinese Idioms

Abstract:Both English and Chinese idioms are specific and structurally fixed expressions.They are formed while the languages are being used.They are the key way to show a nation's culture.Through comparing the similarities and differences between English and Chinese idioms,this paper attempts to expound the common cultural features(such as folksiness,instructiveness and artistry),and cultural conflicts(such as national characteristics and the way of thinking),so as to facilitate English teaching and international communication.
