Abstract:Dry flue gas desulphurization (DFGD) not only reduces the emission of SO2 in flue gas but also lowers the consumption of materials and energy. However, the low efficiency of DFGD under low temperature and low concentration SO2 has limited its development. In order to improve the efficiency of DFGD, a coupled catalytic and non-catalytic compound modified desulfurizer (CMS) was prepared from Ca(OH)2, CaCO3, MnO2 and sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate (SDBS). The sulfur capacity and the initial breakthrough time of CMS under different conditions were studied. The results showed that, at the low temperature of 120 degrees C, low SO2 concentration of 180 ppm, the sulfur capacity per unit of the CMS increased by 24.72% at most compared to the desulfurizer (CM) which was prepared from Ca(OH)2, CaCO3, and MnO2, and the initial breakthrough time was extended by 40 %. Compared with the commercial calcium-based desulfurizers, the desulfurization performance of CMS had also been improved, indicating its great industrial application value. In addition, internal mechanism studies were conducted using XRD, BET, SEM, XPS, FTIR, and DFT. The results indicated that SDBS enhances the desulfurization performance by increasing the reaction contact area between the desulfurizer and SO2, and slowing down the blockage of the pore structure by the product layer. Mn enhances the activity of the desulfurizer by increasing the oxygen vacancies during the reduction reaction process and changing the reaction pathway.
