Abstract:According to certain the volume concentrations, dimethyl carbonate (DMC) was mixed into 90# unleaded gasoline. Using the gas chromatography, the effects of dimethyl carbonate blended gasoline on unregulated emissions from an EFI gasoline engine without modification and their catalytic conversion efficiency were investigated. The experimental results indicate that the benzene emission is reduced at middle load before the catalytic treatment, especially for DMC containing 1.2~0_0 volume percentage at the level of 25~0_0. contrarily, engine-out formaldehyde, acetaldehyde and unburned DMC emissions are increased by adding DMC to gasoline. The average Catalytic conversion efficiencies of benzene and acetaldehyde reach about 85~0_0 and 45~0_0 respectively. There is no formaldehyde and DMC detected in the tailpipe after the catalyst operation, which evidences better catalytic conversion efficiency.
