Abstract:The reaction of arylisothiocyanate, alkyltriflate, and alkynes leads to variously substituted quinolines in high yields. The reaction undergoes alkyltriflate-triggered domino electrophilic activation and avoids the use of a transition-metal catalyst. A variety of functional groups are tolerated in the quinoline ring.

Abstract:Novel divergent domino annulation reactions of sulfur ylides with aryldiazonium tetrafluoroborates have been developed, affording various tetra- and trisubstituted pyrazole derivatives in moderate to good yields. Three molecules of sulfur ylides were applied as C1 synthon to construct the complex products with five new chemical bonds formed in these one-pot reactions.

Abstract:An efficient and rapid synthesis of multiply substituted quinolines is described. This method is enabled by a three-component cascade annulation of readily available aryl diazonium salts, nitriles, and alkynes. This reaction is catalyst- and additive-free. Various aryl diazonium salts, nitriles, and alkynes can participate in this transformation, and the yields are up to 83%.

Abstract:A domino annulation/oxidation of heterocyclic ketene aminals (HKAs) and 2-aminochalcones has been developed for the selective synthesis of poly-substituted benzo[f]imidazo[2,1-a][2,7]naphthyridines and 3-azaheterocyclic substituted 2-arylquinolines. These reactions proceed well under mild conditions without any additives. Plausible mechanisms for such a polycyclic ring system assembly were also proposed. Moreover, benzo[f]imidazo[2,1-a][2,7]naphthyridine 3g displayed a fluorescence effect, demonstrating the potential applications in organic optical materials.

Abstract:A new and efficient [5+1] annulation reaction for the first synthesis of 5,5‐disubstituted 4,5‐dihydropyrazolo[1,5‐a]quinazolines is described. This transition‐metal‐free tandem cyclization was performed with 5‐amino‐1H‐phenylpyrazole and readily available electron‐deficient olefinic ester. The reaction proceeds via an aza‐Michael addition/Truce‐Smiles rearrangement/SNAr cyclization pathway, which was verified by DFT calculations. The participation of Truce‐Smiles rearrangement is substrate dependent and could prompt the process of cascade reactions. It is also the first report of alkenes acting as one‐carbon synthons for [5+1] hetero‐annulations.
