Abstract:A tandem reaction of benzyne with function-, alized benzylidenephthalan for the synthesis of a variety of phenanthro[10,1-bc]furans has been achieved for the first time in moderate to good yields. The reaction mechanism involves a Diels-Alder reaction and an intermolecular nucleophilic addition reaction as the key steps.

Abstract:A facile and highly efficient three-component reaction of thiazole or benzothiazole carbenes, disubstituted ketenes, and activated alkynes is disclosed. With this methodology, a polysubstituted ring system containing furo[2,3-c]thiazepine core can be constructed from simple and readily accessible starting materials in good yields. The scope and limitation of this transformation were investigated in detail by using various thiazole carbene, ketene, and alkyne components. Furthermore, the synthetic utilities of these unique polyheterocyclic compounds were demonstrated via their Diels-Alder reactions with benzynes to furnish thiazepine-fused 7-oxanorbornadiene derivatives in excellent yields.

Abstract:A simple and efficient visible-light-induced tandem cyclization of 1,6-enynes with disulfides for the synthesis of functionalized benzofurans was developed. The reaction proceeded smoothly under metal-free conditions at room temperature in air, providing the desired products in good yields with wide functional group tolerance.

Abstract:A Lewis-acid-promoted approach to the synthesis of highly functionalized dihydrobenzofuran derivatives was developed. A diverse range of functional groups are tolerated in this type of reaction. The reaction mechanism investigation indicates that the highly reactive phenyl cation intermediate is probably involved in this process. The chirality of substrate is retained under the reaction conditions.
