Abstract:An efficient approach for the generation of benzo[b] naphtho[2,3-d]-oxocin-6-ones through a palladium-catalyzed tandem reaction of 2-alkynylphenol with 2-(2-bromobenzylidene)cyclobutanone is described. This tandem process afforded the fused polycycles easily, with the formation of three bonds with high efficiency, starting from easily available materials. Good functional group tolerance as well as excellent selectivity was displayed.

Abstract:The core of benzo[f][1,2]thiazonin-5(4H)-one 3,3-dioxide is efficiently assembled through a palladium-catalyzed tandem reaction of 2-alkynylbenzenesulfonamides with 2-(2-bromobenzylidene)cyclobutanones. A range of polycycles with a nine-membered sultam ring are generated in moderate to good yields. During the transformation, three new bonds are formed via a tandem process with the construction of a nine-membered sultam ring. Double carbometallation is believed to be involved with the ring-opening of cyclobutanone.

Abstract:A tandem coupling-ketooxygenation reaction of readily accessible enediyne-carboxylic compounds with inner alkynes has been developed that utilizes the PdCl2/CuBr2 catalytic system under an O2 atmosphere and assembles a class of isoindolinones and o-acylbenzoic acids. The two oxygen atoms are regioselectively incorporated into enediyne units at the 1- and 6-positions from atmospheric molecular oxygen and H2O, respectively, during the present process. This study uncovered a formal [4C + 2C] benzannulation-diketonization of enediynes and alkynes via a coupling and decoupling strategy.

Abstract:A palladium-catalyzed highly regioselective and chemoselective intermolecular cyclization of 2,7-alkadiynylic carbonates with terminal propargyl tertiary alcohols to construct benzopolycycles containing furan and pyrrole moieties has been developed with a very broad scope. Polycycles containing spirane structures or dispirane structures could be also smoothly synthesized in moderate to good yields. The reaction enjoys excellent regioselectivity.
