Abstract:Seven new quinoxaline derivatives 3a-3g were synthesized through two steps convenient approach. Their structures were confirmed by Fourier transform infrared, proton nuclear magnetic resonance, and high-resolution mass spectrometry. The synthesized compounds 3a-3g showed good fluorescent intensity in dimethyl sulfoxide. They were also shown to possess good antifungal activities. The structure-activity relationship was studied by density functional theory calculations.

Abstract:The synthesis of (E)-2-(4-bromostyryl)quinoline involves an acid catalysed condensation of 2-methylquinoline and 4-bromobenzaldehyde. (E)-4'-[(2-(Quinolin-2-yl)vinyl)]-(1,1'-biphenyl)-4-carbaldehyde has been synthesised from (E)-2-(4-bromostyryl) quinoline and 4-formylphenylboronic acid via a Suzuki coupling reaction. A series of novel quinoline derivatives containing both a biphenyl group and an alpha, beta-diarylacrylonitrile unit have been prepared by the base-catalysed condensation between (E)-4'-[(2-(quinolin-2-yl)vinyl)]-(1,1'-biphenyl)-4-carbaldehyde and various arylacetonitriles. By contrast, the acid-catalysed condensation of the latter aldehyde with several aniline derivatives has been used to synthesise quinolines containing an imine group. These compounds, which have implications for the manufacture of organic light-emitting diodes, emit blue to green fluorescence with maximum emission peaks of 419-531 nm in solution and in the solid state under UV irradiation. Thermogravimetric analysis reveals their good thermal stability with a decomposition temperature range from 313 to 387 degrees C.

Abstract:An efficient synthesis of novel phenoxyimine ligands containing a difluorovinylbiphenyl group was based on the Suzuki coupling coupling of 4-bromo-2,6-difluoroaniline with 4-styrylboronic acid followed by a condensation reaction with various arylaldehydes. The structures were established by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR spectra and HRMS. The advantages of this synthetic route were its simple operation, mild reaction conditions and good yields.

Phosphorus Sulfur and Silicon and the Related Elements

Abstract:Three quinoline carbonothioate compounds were synthesized using o-fluoroaniline and ethyl 2-methylacetoacetate as starting materials via multi-steps. The structures of three compounds were confirmed using H-1 NMR and HRMS. The structure of O-ethyl S-(8-fluoro-2,3-dimethylquinolin-4-yl) carbonothioate (3a) was further determined through X-ray single-crystal diffraction. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis indicated that compound 3a crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c, with unit cell parameters: a = 14.3284(6) & Aring;, b = 19.2857(8) & Aring;, c = 10.3990(5) & Aring;, beta = 108.1220(10)degrees, V = 2731.0(2) & Aring;(3). In addition, the physicochemical properties of compound 3a were calculated and discussed using molecular electrostatic potential, frontier molecular orbital and Hirshfeld surface analysis. The antifungal activity of the three compounds was evaluated at 50 mu g/mL, with compound 3b exhibiting good activity (75.8%) against R. solani.

Abstract:Novel polycyclic aromatic compounds (FBTPhO3 and FBTPhO4), which are based on bis(benzothiophene)-fused fluorene functionalized with oligo(ethylene glycol)-substituted phenyl, were synthesized through an intramolecular electrophilic cyclizing reaction. Thermal measurements revealed their excellent thermal stability and amorphous state. Photoluminescence spectra suggested that they both show deep blue light emission. Cyclic voltammetry tests exhibited that the ionization potentials of FBTPhO3 and FBTPhO4 are 5.67 and 5.68 eV, respectively, implying their good inoxidizability. Abstract:This paper reports the synthesis and the nonlinear optical property of a series of new chromophores which contain furan ring as the only conjugation bridge for the first time. They are characterized by UV-VIS, FT-IR, H-1 NMR, MS and elemental analysis. Their dipole moment and the first-order molecular hyperpolarizability (beta) are calculated and compared with those or the analogues containing either benzene or thiophene as file conjugation bridge.

Abstract:4-Bromothiophene-2-carbaldehyde was reacted with benzyl cyanide to prepare (Z)-3-(4-bromothiophen-2-yl)-2-phenylacrylonitrile which was cross-coupled with various arylboronic acids under Pd(PPh(3))(4) catalysis to afford a series of novel fluorescent aryl-substituted thiophene derivatives. These compounds are one of the most promising functional organic light-emitting diode materials. The UV-Vis absorption and photoluminescent spectra of these compounds in CH(2)Cl(2) were investigated.

Abstract:Abstract A concise method for the synthesis furan and benzene fused 2‐tetralones via photo‐induced rearrangement of 2′‐(furan‐2‐yl)‐[1,1′‐biphenyl]‐4‐ols was developed. Under argon atmosphere and room temperature, 6,7‐dihydrophenanthro[9,10‐ b ]furan‐5(4 H )‐ones were obtained by irradiating 2′‐(furan‐2‐yl)‐[1,1′‐biphenyl]‐4‐ols with a 254 nm UV lamp (64 W) in dichloromethane (DCM) for 1 hour. The reaction mechanism includes 6π‐electrocyclization, thermal suprafacial [1,5]‐H shift, double thermal suprafacial [1,3]‐H shift and keto‐enol isomerization.
