Abstract:The nickel-catalyzed β-thioetherification of unactivated C(sp(3))-H bond of propionamides is established with the assistance of 8-aminoquinoline auxiliary, leading to the β-thio carboxylic acid derivatives. A broad range of functional groups is compatible with this thioetherfication reaction. The process represents the first successful example of metal-catalyzed C-S bond formation from unactivated C(sp(3))-H bonds.

Abstract:Rh(III)-catalyzed C(sp(3)) - H bond aminocarbonylation of 8-methylquinolines and isocyanates has been realized under mild conditions. This approach is applicable to different aryl and alkyl isocyanates, leading to the synthesis of various alpha-quinolinyl amide compounds in moderate to excellent yields. A plausible mechanism for this transformation is proposed according to the experimental results obtained.

Abstract:A nickel-catalyzed stereoselective alkenylation of an unactivated β-C(sp3)-H bond in aliphatic amide with terminal alkynes using 8-aminoquinoline auxiliary is reported for the first time. This reaction displays excellent functional group tolerance with respect to both aliphatic amides and terminal alkynes and features a cheap nickel catalytic system. The 8-aminoquinolyl directing group could be smoothly removed, and the resultant β-styrylcarboxylic acid derivatives could serve as versatile building blocks for further transformation.

Abstract:Herein, we report a general and practical nickel-catalyzed deaminative allenylation of amino acid derivatives with terminal alkynes. The well-designed, electron deficient, and sterically hindered amide-type NN2 pincer ligand was crucial to the success of this transformation, enabling the coupling to occur under mild conditions with high efficiency. The remarkable features of this chemistry are its good scalability, its broad substrate scope, functional group tolerance, and the efficient modification of peptides, drugs, and natural products.

Abstract:The direct oxidative N-acylation reaction of primary amides with aryl/alpha,beta-unsaturated aldehydes was achieved in the presence of azolium salt C3 and an inorganic base using 3,3',5,5'-tetra-tert-butyldipherioquinone as the oxidant, thus providing an efficient approach for the synthesis of three types of imide compounds including N-sulfonylcarboxamides, N-sulfinylcarboxamides, and dicarboxyimides in good yield.

This novel strategy showed wide generality, functional tolerance, and high regioselectivity. Abstract:We report herein an intermolecular syn-arylalkylation and alkenylalkylation of alkenyl amines with two different organohalides (iodides and bromides) using Ni(II) catalyst. The cleavable bidentate quinolinamide is utilized after extensive directing group screening to enable olefin difunctionalization with high levels of regio-, chemo-, and diastereocontrol. Abstract:A nickel-catalyzed, efficient C-N bond reduction of aromatic and benzylic ammonium triflates has been developed using sodium isopropoxide as a reducing agent. The high efficiency, mild conditions, and good compatibility with various substituents made this method an effective supplement to the current catalytic hydrogenation reactions. Combining this reductive deamination reaction with directed aromatic functionalization reactions, a powerful strategy for regioselective functionalization of arenes was demonstrated using dialkylamine groups as traceless directing groups.
