Abstract:This paper provides a method to test some parameters of CDs. These parameters show the quality of the disks directly. The method is based on a commercial CD-ROM and a common computer. Some necessary circuits and software are added in. The analytic results can be provided.

Abstract:In this paper, a new kind of automatic method to test the Parameters of CD/DVD Optical Discs is introduced and named near-line inspector. Being connected to product lines, sampling and testing the discs automatically in batches, our inspector can provide a brief yet revealing profile of optical disc parameters such as electrical variables (HF, Jitter, etc.), physical variables and digital error variables in an acceptable short time so as to reflect the up-to-date condition of the product lines. As a real-time and relatively high-efficiency measurement method, it will be integrated into a perfect test system together with on-line and off-line inspectors. Such a system would be especially suitable for the replication of high-quality optical discs in large volume. The layout of the whole set of test system is described. The feasibility and reliability of near-line method are analyzed based on study by means of a high-precision DVD off-line test system developed by us.© (2001) COPYRIGHT SPIE--The International Society for Optical Engineering. Abstract:The accelerated bearing life tester modified with micro-flow control valve and position holding directional control vlave is presented. The parameters of the bearing life testing are decided and the measuring and controlling system of the accelerated bearing life tester is developed. The control method of continuity and discontinuity applying to bearing life tester and adjusted parameter PID control is given. The software applying to the accelerated bearing life tester system based on PLC and NI monitor software based on PPI protocol are developed. The result shows that this system has features of 2% control precision and fast-response control.
A Simple Method of Measuring Vibration Amplitude of CD-ROM

Abstract:A simple and practical measuring method for vibrating amplitudes of CD-ROM vibrating with a frequency of 1.5 kHz and CD cracks is proposed. Through multiple reflections of a laser-beam between a CD and a parallel mirror, a laser-beam displacement caused by the CD vibration can be enlarged, so that the measurement of the amplitude is simplified. The measuring principle, the formation of light knife and the design of signal collecting and processing circuits are introduced. And a measuring example is presented.

Abstract:The product test of PCB (printed circuit board), which checks the open circuit, short circuit, line cauterization and so on, is very important. It ensures the product quality and affects the cost of the PCB. A PCB test system integrates the testing point generation, testing-point linking and blueprint generation into one system. This paper deals with the design and implementation of a PCB testing system, especially the key algorithms in the implementation of the automatic testing point linking and the optimization of sequence strings' location. The algorithm of testing point linking cab improve the product quality and speedup the testing point linking process. The optimization algorithm of sequence strings' location can search the interspace of a linking graph automatically.

Abstract:A real time non-contact dynamic testing method for an optical disk is proposed in this paper. The axial run-out and the tilt of the optical disk are measured by two quadrant detectors when the disk is turning at high speed in the drive. The analysis of the results is given with a brief discussion on the error in measurement.

A quasi-linear-region focusing search method is proposed and carried out. It is a simple reliable focusing search method based on the positive and negative feedback characteristics of the focusing error curve.

Abstract:The working theory and optical criterion for the CD optical system is introduced,then some main issues for the design and assembling are discussed.A kind of CD lens for practical use and mass production have been designed.Based on the calculation of the lens,the optical performance curves affected by the LD astigmatism,manufacturing errors and system errors are presented.The design can endure various manufacture errors.Even the focusing error and disk tilt occur,excellent optical performance can be obtained within the whole tracking area,which shows the design is practical.

Abstract:Nowadays, with the rapid development of stereoscopic display technology, grating has been more and more widely used in auto stereoscopic 3DTV. This paper introduces a method that can be used to measure the parameters of lenticular-lens sheet for 3DLCD. This method is mainly based on the pure white-black characteristic image, by making use of the iterative method to get close to the accurate values of lines per inch, slant angle and k-offset. Compared with other methods, the one introduced in this paper is much simpler but more accurate, and experiments show that the parameter values measured using this method are close enough to the nominal values and can be used to improve 3D display qualities.

Abstract:A two-stage,high precision spindle constant linear velocity(CLV) control method was developed for CD-R disk test instruments.The method is based on a digital PID(proportional-integral-derivative) controller and phase-locked loop,using the wobble clock read from the CD-R disk as the feedback signal.The system combines the speed of the digital PID controller and the high precision of the phase-locked loop.The digital PID controller is used to let the spindle approach the specified constant linear velocity,with the phase-locked loop then used to provied high control precision.Test results verified the controller design.Simulations and test results show that the control system can adjust the speed within(0.2 s) and the control accuracy is better than 0.03%.

Abstract:The process of replication, such as molding, clamping, injection, metalizing, even extrusion and printing, put an important impact on the quality of the finished DVD discs. They are crucial to duplicator, but not so easy to detect by conventional analysis methods provided by current commercial off-line tester. We introduce a data-analysis method to enlarge the effects of replication process on the disc parameters, by means of eliminating the disturbance fi om pre-replication process. This method is named RES (Remainder Elimination of the effect Stamper) parameters. An example is given to show the status of disc's edges affected by molding, and the selection of different molding patterns is analyzed.

Abstract:Measurement technology plays an important role in the research of optical storage. Aiming at constructing research platform for blue-ray optical data storage, we designed and built a modularized static testing system, in which laser wavelength is 406.7nm. Modulation/demodulation technique is employed to weaken the test noise. The focus move mode decreases the requirement in size of samples. And Piezoeletronic nano-positioner is used to facilitate the relocation of recording marks and improve test repeatability. Experimental results are also given to verify the performance of the static testing system.

Abstract:Readout noise is a critical parameter for characterizing the performance of charge-coupled devices (CCDs), which can be greatly reduced by the correlated double sampling (CDS) circuit. However, conventional CDS circuit inevitably introduces new noises since it consists of several active analog components such as operational amplifiers. This paper proposes a digital CDS circuit technique, which transforms the pre-amplified CCD signal into a train of digital presentations by a high-speed data acquisition card directly without the noisy CDS circuit first, then implement the digital CDS algorithm through numerical method. The readout noise of 3.3 e$^{-}$ and the energy resolution of 121 eV@5.9keV can be achieved via the digital CDS technique.

Abstract:Optical Disk Cluster (ODC) drive is the key component of ultra-large capacity optical storage system. The principle of ODC drive is introduced. The measurement and analysis system of dynamic properties of ODC is developed using graphical programming language, LabVIEW, the best software platform of virtual Instruments. The vibration characteristic of ODC is studied. The experiments show that the main reasons of ODC vibration are shaft eccentricity, disalignment of shaft, and inclination of optical disk. As the result, the methods of reducing vibration of optical disk are presented, which can be used to optimizing design of ODC.

Abstract:Blue ray optical storage is one important trend in the area of information storage, and the corresponding tester is indispensable to the research of blue ray optical storage media. Aiming at setting up a research platform for blue ray optical storage, a modularized static tester was designed and constructed. Laser wavelength is 406.7 nm. Modulation/demodulation technique is used to weaken test noise so as to increase test precision, focus move-mode is introduced to decrease the requirement in size of samples, and nano-positioners are employed to facilitate the relocation of recording marks.
