Abstract:In this study, Cu-based amorphous composites are subjected to elastic preload and ultrasonic vibration (pre-UP) treatment at room temperature, with preloads of 250 N, 500 N, 750 N, and 1000 N and ultrasonic amplitudes of 15 μm, 25 μm, 34 μm, and 50 μm. Additionally, the mechanical response, ultrasonic transmission efficiency, microstructure evolution, and accommodation mechanism characteristics of Cu-based amorphous composites under different elastic preload and ultrasonic vibration conditions are studied. At low amplitudes/low preloads, the free volume dominates and no nanocrystals precipitate. At low amplitudes/medium preloads or at medium amplitudes/low preloads, the free volume and nanocrystals coexist as the main microstructure. At high amplitudes/high preloads, nanocrystals dominate and the free volume content decreases sharply. Increasing the amplitude and decreasing the preload can improve the ultrasonic transmission efficiency. The mechanical response is related to the ultrasonic impact effect and the ultrasonic hardening effect, which are determined by the distance between the ultrasonic punch and the upper surface of the sample. The low ultrasonic impact energy prevents atoms from crossing the energy barrier, resulting in low ultrasonic transmission efficiency. The increase in ultrasonic impact energy encourages atoms to cross the energy barrier, significantly increasing the ultrasonic transmission efficiency.
