Abstract:Belt conveyors are widely used in the areas of coal, ports, electric power, chemical, etc, to transport bulk solid. The traditional design methods have many defects, such as long design cycle, prone to error, and it is unable to meet the needs of modern society. This paper presents a new method of designing belt conveyors, the 3D visual rapid design platform based on the AutoCAD software for the design of belt conveyors. This platform uses Visual Basic software to develop the rapid design program, establishes the stereo models of the belt conveyor by extending the functions of AutoCAD with ObjectARX. So it builds the three-dimensional design environment in which the designers can adjust the structure of the belt conveyor based on the actual environment, manage the parts of the belt conveyor and get the engineering drawing of the belt conveyor. This platform increases the design speed and improves the design quality. ©2010 IEEE.

Abstract:In order to reuse the CAD data efficiently, the paper presents an effective method for extracting mechanical part information from existing mechanical engineering drawings produced by CAD software. Characteristics of the forms in the engineering drawings are analyzed. A new method to represent arbitrary forms with matrix is proposed, which makes it easy to extract form frames. Based on the form frames, the part information is obtained. In addition, a practical software tool is briefly introduced, which can be used to extract part information from AutoCAD produced engineering drawings automatically.

Abstract:Two-dimensional engineering drawing has a vital role in the design and manufac-ture of products, but the generation of engineering drawing, the dimensioning and layout are all time-consuming work. In order to automatically generate the engineering drawing, study was made on the automatic generation system of engineering drawing based on 3D parametric model. The automatic dimensioning of engineering drawing and the algorithms of layout in the system were introduced. The algorithms were got in NX UG, and a good effect for aiding the drawing was achieved.

Abstract:Besides the engineering requirement such as design, manufacture, measure, the dimensions labeled on an engineering drawing should also be orderly and neat. However, the dimensions generated according to the 3D information are usually placed randomly in 2D drawings. This paper reports an approach to optimize the placement of horizontal and vertical dimensions based on the strategy of dimension set classification. Simulated annealing algorithm is employed to search for the optimal or approximately optimal dimension placement. This approach has been implemented in our geometric modeling system GEMS.

Abstract:The scale factor of drawing is referred as a crucial parameter during developing the parametric design software.In order to build the standard 2D engineering drawings,a method that the scale factor is properly applied in the program of parametric design is provided.Some problems are dealt with in CAD system that is developed with ObjectARX,such as un-uniformity of the text and dimension,flexible configuration of the several drawings with different scale etc.All of the engineering drawings which are created with the different scale by this CAD system are able to meet the requirements of engineering drawing standards.The different scale drawings of assemblies and parts can be collocated randomly in the same blueprint,but their high of text and style of dimension are assured uniform.

Abstract:Key technique and implementation method for autogeneration of 2D engineering drawings of gear based on AutoCAD were studied in order to overcome low efficiency in design during changing of gear parts.An automatic gear design system was established by introducing parameterized design and drawing methodology,as well as ObjectARX based secondary development of AutoCAD into the procedure of gear design.The modulus of gear,number of teeth,corresponding sizes of the structure and other design results could be automatically generated by the system according to recorded parameters of design,and two-dimensional engineering drawing could be generated automatically driven by the sizes.A fast and automatic design of gear is realized.

Abstract:Based on the AutoCAD IDE, two auxiliary application programs for the membrane structures design are developed with AutoLisp language and internal function data structure. The program of 3D entity transformation can change the pipeline of line, arc and polyline into the corresponding entity with specific diameter, which indicate the exact relationship of all the pipelines at the joint. The program of membrane pattern panel layout and dimension can dimension the membrane pattern panel automatically in proper way for the fabrication industry, such as coordinate, auxiliary elevation line and its combination way.
