Abstract:A 200kVA soft-switching IGBT three-phase inverter for high-speed motor drive is designed. Layout of commutation busbar is designed to reduce the parasitic inductance, which is detrimental to soft-switching operation. Then design of the resonant inductor is explored to reduce its loss and size. Soft-switching PWM control is also introduced to properly adjust the resonant inductor energy. In order to further improve the inverter efficiency, the effects of resonant parameters and the inductor boost current are investigated. Finally, experimental results are provided and discussed.

Abstract:Proposed the ability of using switched reluctance motor for underground mining conveyor,based on the analysis of SRM's principle and underground mining conveyor's characteristic.Designed a particular SRM driver system including PID parameter selector to meet the safety and robust demand of underground mining conveyor.Through simulation and experiment test on a 110 kW,12/8 SRM,the results show that depend on modern intelligent error detector,RDC circuits and PID parameter selector,SRD can satisfy the application which require good dynamic response and considerable robust in underground mining conveyor.

Abstract:Here presents a kind of electronic soft starting controller based on Intel196MC. The control function of the soft starter can be more accuracy through use of this MCU. The paper gives the main working principle and the main circuit of the soft starter, analyzed the production of the triggering signal and the design of the software. Then experimental results obtained from a prototype confirm the validity and feasibility of the proposed method.

Abstract:Asynchronous motor has an extensive application in manufacture. The efficiency is quite low when the motor is running under the rated load. Dynamically adjusting the terminal voltage of the motor according to the change of the load can greatly reduce the consumption, and thus improve the efficiency. This paper provides design of the soft start energy-saving controller of motor, which can be used in energy-saving, soft start and running protection. The controller needs a low cost in hardware, but the function is powerful. This paper proposes the software and hardware design scheme of the controller.

Abstract:In view of problem that traditional soft start mode of mine-used asynchronous motor has big starting current, small starting torque, and cannot achieve overload or full load start, voltage regulation circuit and protection circuit were improved based on existing grading discrete frequency conversion principle, and an improved soft start mode of grading discrete frequency conversion for mine asynchronous mator was put forward. The main voltage regulator circuit uses gate turn-off thyristor GTO instead of traditional SCR thyristor to adjust power frequency, and uses ideal switch group instead of three-phase circuit breaker to control its turn-off, so as to prevent circuit damage caused by over-voltage or over-current, and achieves purpose of circuit protect. The Matlab simulation results show that improved soft start mode of grading discrete frequency conversion can not only reduce starting current and increase starting torque, but also effectively protect the circuit.

Abstract:High-power synchronous motor is difficult to start and unable to start and stop freely, so it must be long-running. This will cause a lot of energy waste. In order to solve the problem, devices of self-controlled soft start with variable frequency for high-power synchronous motor are researched and developed. The TMS320F2812 DSP is used as main control chip to do all the control strategies in this soft-start platform. This paper also gives a detailed method to do with the error signal of misleading zero-crossing points of back-EMF caused by inverter commutation, and describes the problem at the switch point from self impulse to back-EMF zero-crossing detection. It can get the rotor position without position sensor by accurate detection of motor back-EMF zero-crossing at medium and high speed. In the prototype platform, the motor can be soft started from standstill to rated speed stably and reliably.

Abstract:The Because of the restriction of SCR withstand-voltage for the middle-voltage (3KV~10KV) induction motor, although it is solved by SCR connection in series, SCR parameters will change after using some period of time, which make SCR performance of voltage-equalizing lower. The paper introduces a new type middle-voltage soft starter based on the on-off transformer. The starting performance of the soft starter is fully analyzed by experiment and simulation in the paper. The control method of eliminating the torque pulsation is produced and the soft starting control of the constant current is realized. According to the test on site, the big-power high-voltage induction motor can start steadily and reliably with the new type soft starter. Abstract:The starting current of high voltage and large capacity induction motor is very large when the motor is started directly under rated voltage. The large starting current will have an influence on the stability of power grid and result in abnormal operation of other equipment in the same network and the motor itself. Several popular soft-starters of induction motor were presented. The characteristics and applicability of these soft-starters in the field of high volt-age induction motor were compared. Some control strategies of soft-starter were described briefly. The principle and characteristics of control strategies were analyzed.

Abstract:The novel soft starter based on self-commutated device is studied in this paper. The principle of the soft starter is described and its mathematical model is given. The relation between torque pulsation and the switching point in the first cycle of the voltage applied to the stator is analyzed by simulation. The control strategy for eliminating torque pulsation is presented. Using this control strategy, the torque pulsation can be diminished and even eliminated by choosing the optimal switching point of the applied voltage. The experimental results prove that this method of controlling torque pulsation is practicable for the novel soft starter.

Abstract:Soft starter technology is advantageous to the improvement and the control of the startup proce-dure of asynchronous motor. The features of each kind of soft-start method were analyzed and compared in de-tail. Solid soft starter was realized on the bases of thyristor series technology and the torque control strategy. Through a 3 kW motor's simulation,the soft starter with torque control technology can greatly reduce the dy-namic torque and starting current. The performance is able to good control the startup procedure of asyn-chronous motor.

Abstract:To overcome the problems of large lower-order harmonics and slow response associated with conventional thyristor controlled voltage, the novel soft starter based on selfcommutated switches is proposed. Yet, unlike the thyristorized soft starters previously reported in the literature, the gating signals of the proposed topology are easier to implement.Moreover, it does not require synchronization with the ac mains and the open-loop control can be carried out. The operating principle of the novel soft starter and the characteristics of stator voltage and current are analyzed in this paper. And the corresponding simulating results are given. The experimental results prove the validity of the new soft starter.

Abstract:The conventional brushless integrated starter-generator used for the power supply system is driven by the power electronic converter, which would be composed of many controllable electronic switching devices in parallel when the system runs in high current conditions. As a result, it complicates the structure and control of the system, occupies the limited volume, and increases cost. Thus, a novel integrated starter-generator based on a conventional brush DC motor is proposed in this paper. It changes the concentrated stator winding of the DC motor to a distributed winding. At starting mode, the machine uses the stator winding as field winding and adopts an electric brush for commutation. At generating mode, the machine uses the rotor winding as field winding, and a slip ring is used to provide a DC excitation current. In this way, the machine can function as a DC motor and a synchronous generator. The basic structure and working principle of the machine are described in detail, and the feasibility of the scheme is verified by finite element analysis (FEA) results.

Abstract:This paper describes a novel soft starter based on self-commutated devices for an induction motor. In the proposed system, the firing signal of switching devices is not synchronous with the supply and the low-order harmonics of the stator current is eliminated. Comparison with the thyristorized soft starter, the control method of this system is simple and the effect of energy saving is obvious. The system, which consists of DSP and single-chip, can realize the parallel operation for processing data and monitoring. This structure can improve the responding speed and reliability. The theoretical and experimental results show that the proposed soft starter is practicable and its application is prospect.

Abstract:This paper investigates the performance of a high power line-start permanent-magnet motor (LSPM) by experiment, which is developed for industrial fans, pumps and compressors to reduce the energy consumption. The no-load back-EMF is measured and compared with predicted result of FEM. In order to assess the line starting ability, the rotor-locked test is carried out and then the starting torque ratio is deduced which is lower than that of induction motor of the same power. By adjusting the load, the efficiency and power factor during all operation condition are obtained. It is found this proposed LSPM has not only higher power factor and efficiency, but also high overload ability. After its starting ability of reduced voltage is analyzed, several useful methods are pointed out for designing high power LSPM which should start with limited current.

Abstract:Oriented to soft starter driven induction machines, the values of open-circuit voltage, stator current and the harmonics’ line spectrum were accquired by means of circuit calculations and Fourier analysis. The neural network of voltage current—back electromotive force(BEMF) speed were trained by simulation data of voltage slope soft-start, and the identified values of BEMF and speed were obtained by exciting the network with soft-start mode’s data. A new control pricinples containing speed’s information were provided to realize motor’s soft start. Simulation results indicate it can not only save more energy, but also reduce suppress output torque’s viberations at the beginning of start.

Abstract:Conveyor belts are widely used in ore transportation in large-scale mines for their long transportation range, high safety, and strong economic applicability. Coal mine belt conveyors are not only traditional, simple mechanical conveying devices but also automatic control system operating devices that integrate safety, stability, and low power consumption. In the process of coal mining, a conveyor belt control system also needs to be closely integrated with modern industrial systems and information systems, which greatly improves its work efficiency. The purpose of this article is to improve the methods for designing automatic control systems for electric motors in order to obtain mechanical characteristics close to a constant power line, which would ensure the reliable operation of belt conveyors. An automatic control system was designed based on the controller Siemens S7-1200; then, a mathematical model of an automated electric drive was developed. Based on the mathematical model, a simulation model of an automatic electric drive was built, and the modes were modeled. After designing, the obtained plots of transients completely corresponded to the required transients, which means that the Siemens frequency converter automatic control system (ACS) parameters were calculated quite accurately and the conveyor electric drive met all requirements.

Abstract:To improve the soft start-up performance of a scraper conveyor under different working conditions, the mathematical model of the torque for controllable starting transmission was established. The influences of start-up time, load values, and moment of inertia on the soft start-up characteristics of a scraper conveyor are analyzed. Based on the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), the new evaluation system of soft start-up optimization for hydroviscous drive applied to a scraper conveyor is proposed. Through the joint simulation platform of MATLAB and Isight, the two-parameter control model for soft start-up time is established using the method of experimental design and simulated annealing algorithm. The optimal start-up time under different conditions is determined, and soft start-up is optimized. The results show that with increasing start-up time, the objective function value of soft start-up performance decreases first and then increases. Under different flywheel inertia and load conditions, there is an optimal start-up time that minimizes the objective function for better soft start-up performance. The optimal start-up time decreases with increasing load, and the optimal start-up time decreases monotonically with the input flywheel inertia. This research provides a new method and theoretical basis for the modeling and performance optimization of soft start-up for hydroviscous drive applied to a scraper conveyor.

Abstract:The engine cooling fan drive is crucial for an engine as it ensures safe and efficient engine operation. In heavy-duty mobile machine, the engine cooling fan consumes a considerable amount of engine power. To meet high cooling demand a hydraulic fan drive is usually employed. A simple and cost-effective way is to use two fixed displacement hydrostatic units and a pressure relief valve where it has severe valve throttling losses. A more efficient way is to use a variable displacement pump to drive a fixed displacement motor. It eliminates valve throttling however the drive efficiency is still relatively low due to variable pump displacement control. Therefore, an engine cooling fan drive system with a power split hydraulic transmission was proposed in the previous study. The hydraulic transmission is a compact unit with both pumping and motoring functions. The fan speed is controlled by adjusting the transmission outlet pressure. Although previous results showed the system has relatively higher drive efficiency than conventional hydraulic fan drive at different fan speeds, the control design, and system dynamic performance have not yet been studied. Therefore, in this article, the control design of the cooling fan drive system with power split hydraulic transmission is studied. A feedforward controller based on transmission characteristics is designed to achieve better system performance. A hydraulic fan drive test bench is developed to evaluate system control design. The system dynamic performance with feedforward and feedback controls are compared through both simulation and experimental studies.
Dynamic characteristic analysis and startup optimization design of an intermediate drive belt conveyor with non-uniform load

Abstract:As an important transportation equipment, belt conveyor plays an important role in underground coal mine production and is an indispensable component. In this article, taking the intermediate drive belt conveyor of Shanxi Tongmei Group Tongxin Mine as an example, the continuous dynamic method is adopted to comprehensively consider the non-uniform load distribution of the belt conveyor, and mathematical modeling of the intermediate drive belt conveyor is performed. The dynamic characteristics of the conveyor belt are analyzed. The MATLAB software is used to analyze the change of the conveyor belt tension under different starting accelerations. Based on the analysis results, the starting acceleration is optimized, and the new combined parabolic acceleration curve presented here is more suitable for the actual working condition of the belt conveyor. In this article, the startup timing of the head and middle motors of the belt conveyor is also discussed in depth. The start timing design of the belt conveyor is described, which provides a reference for the design of the belt conveyor with an intermediate drive.
