Abstract:Vianna constructed infinitely many exotic Lagrangian tori in the complex projective plane. We lift these tori to higher-dimensional projective spaces and show that they remain non-symplectomorphic. Our proof is elementary except for an application of the wall-crossing formula by Pascaleff-Tonkonog.

Abstract:In this paper we generalize examples of Hamiltonian stationary Lagrangian submanifolds constructed by Lee and Wang in $\mathbb{C}^m$ to toric almost Calabi-Yau manifolds. We construct examples of weighted Hamiltonian stationary Lagrangian submanifolds in toric almost Calabi-Yau manifolds and solutions of generalized Lagrangian mean curvature flows starting from these examples. We allow these flows to have some singularities and topological changes.

Abstract:A two-dimensional periodic Schrödingier operator is associated with every Lagrangian torus in the complex projective plane ${\mathbb C}P^2$. Using this operator, we introduce an energy functional on the set of Lagrangian tori. It turns out this energy functional coincides with the Willmore functional $W^{-}$ introduced by Montiel and Urbano. We study the energy functional on a family of Hamiltonian-minimal Lagrangian tori and support the Montiel–Urbano conjecture that the minimum of the functional is achieved by the Clifford torus. We also study deformations of minimal Lagrangian tori and show that if a deformation preserves the conformal type of the torus, then it also preserves the area, i.e., preserves the value of the energy functional. In particular, the deformations generated by Novikov–Veselov equations preserve the area of minimal Lagrangian tori.

Abstract:We study exotic Lagrangian tori in dimension four. In certain Stein domains $B_{dpq}$ (which naturally appear in almost toric fibrations) we find $d+1$ families of monotone Lagrangian tori which are mutually distinct, up to symplectomorphisms. We prove that these remain distinct under embeddings of $B_{dpq}$ into geometrically bounded symplectic four-manifolds. We show that there are infinitely many different such embeddings when $X$ is compact and (almost) toric and hence conclude that $X$ contains arbitrarily many Lagrangian tori which are distinct up to symplectomorphisms of $X$. In dimension four arbitrarily many different Lagrangian tori were previously known only in del Pezzo surfaces. Neither the embedded tori, nor the ambient space $X$ needs to be monotone for our methods to work.

Abstract:We present an algorithm for the construction of lower dimensional elliptic tori in parametric Hamiltonian systems by means of the parametrization method with the tangent and normal frequencies being prescribed. This requires that the Hamiltonian system has as many parameters as the dimension of the normal dynamics, and the algorithm must adjust these parameters. We illustrate the methodology with an implementation of the algorithm computing $2$--dimensional elliptic tori in a system of $4$ coupled pendula (4 degrees of freedom).

Abstract:Using Legendrian immersions and, in particular, Legendre curves in odd-dimensional spheres and anti-de Sitter spaces, we construct new examples of Hamiltonian-minimal Lagrangian submanifolds in complex projective and hyperbolic spaces, including explicit one-parameter families of embeddings of quotients of certain product manifolds. We also give new examples of minimal Lagrangian submanifolds in complex projective and hyperbolic spaces. Making use of all these constructions, we get Hamiltonian-minimal and special Lagrangian cones in complex Euclidean space as well.

Abstract:We give a dynamical proof of a result of Masser and Zannier [MZ2, MZ3] about torsion points on the Legendre family of elliptic curves. Our methods also treat points of small height. A key ingredient is the arithmetic equidistribution theorem on $\mathbb{P}^1$ of Baker-Rumely, Chambert-Loir, and Favre-Rivera-Letelier. Torsion points on the elliptic curve coincide with preperiodic points for the degree-4 Lattes family of rational functions. Our main new results concern properties of the bifurcation measures for this Lattes family associated to marked points.

Abstract:We construct a Lagrangian submanifold, inside the cotangent bundle of a real torus, which we call a Lagrangian pair of pants. It is given as the graph of the differential of a smooth function defined on the real blow up of a Lagrangian coamoeba. Lagrangian pairs of pants are the main building blocks in a construction of smooth Lagrangian submanifolds of $(\mathbb{C}^*)^n$ which lift tropical subvarieties in $\mathbb{R}^n$. As an example we explain how to lift tropical curves in $\mathbb{R}^2$ to Lagrangian submanifolds of $(\mathbb{C}^*)^2$. We also give several new examples of Lagrangian submanifolds inside toric varieties, some of which are monotone.

Abstract:Ivansic proved that there is a link $L$ of five tori in $S^4$ with hyperbolic complement. We describe $L$ explicitly and study its properties, and discover that $L$ is in many aspects similar to the Borromean rings in $S^3$. In particular the following hold: (1) Any two tori in $L$ are unlinked, but three are not; (2) The complement $M=S^4\setminus L$ is integral arithmetic hyperbolic; (3) The symmetry group of $L$ acts $k$-transitively on its components for all $k$; (4) The double branched covering over $L$ has geometry $\mathbb H^2 \times \mathbb H^2$; (5) The fundamental group of $M$ has a nice presentation via commutators; (6) The Alexander ideal is explicit; (7) Every class $x\in H^1(M, \mathbb Z)=\mathbb Z^5$ with $x_i\neq 0$ is represented by a perfect circle-valued Morse function; (8) By longitudinal Dehn surgery along $L$ we get a closed 4-manifold with fundamental group $\mathbb Z^5$; (9) The link $L$ can be put in perfect position. This leads also to the first descriptions of a cusped hyperbolic 4-manifold as a complement of tori in $\mathbb R \mathbb P^4$ and of some explicit Lagrangian tori in the product of two surfaces of genus two.

Abstract:In this note, we provide explicit constructions of exact Lagrangian embeddings of tori and Klein bottles inside the symplectisation of an overtwisted contact three‐manifold. Note that any closed exact Lagrangian in the symplectisation is displaceable by a Hamiltonian isotopy. We also use positive loops to exhibit elementary examples of topologically linked Legendrians that are dynamically non‐interlinked in the sense of Entov–Polterovich.

Abstract:Hamiltonian stationary Lagrangian submanifolds (HSLAG) are a natural generalization of special Lagrangian manifolds (SLAG). The latter only make sense on Calabi-Yau manifolds whereas the former are defined for any almost Kähler manifold. Special Lagrangians, and, more specificaly, fibrations by special Lagrangians play an important role in the context of the geometric mirror symmetry conjecture. However, these objects are rather scarce in nature. On the contrary, we show that HSLAG submanifolds, or fibrations, arise quite often. Many examples of HSLAG fibrations are provided by toric Käh-ler geometry. In this paper, we obtain a large class of examples by deforming the toric metrics into non toric almost Kähler metrics, together with HSLAG submanifolds.
