Abstract:Integrated hybrid nanoarrays with hierarchical porous structures have attracted much attention as energy materials for their excellent synergistic effects. Herein, we provide a facile strategy for integrating a NiCo2S4@Ni3S2 hybrid nanoneedle array on nickel foam derived from metal-organic framework (MOF) precursors and a Ni/Co-precursor by sulfurization. When directly used as the free-standing electrode for a supercapacitor, the NiCo2S4@Ni3S2 electrode exhibited a high specific capacitance of 1536.8 F g(-1) at 1 A g(-1). Furthermore, the assembled NiCo2S4@Ni3S2//AC asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC) exhibited a high energy density of 35.26 W h kg(-1) at a power density of 724.93 W kg(-1). The capacitance retention of NiCo2S4@Ni3S2 was up to 97.4% after 10000 cycles.

Abstract:Hierarchical Co(OH)2@NiMoS4 nanocomposites were successfully prepared on a carbon cloth by using a simple two-step hydrothermal method coupled with a room-temperature vulcanization method. The resulting nanocomposites were composed of large-scale uniform Co(OH)2 nanowires fully covered with ultrathin vertical NiMoS4 nanoflakes. Because of the synergetic effect between Co(OH)2 and NiMoS4, the nanocomposites exhibited good electrochemical performance as a supercapacitor electrode. In particular, a specific capacity of 2229 F g-1 was achieved at a current density of 1 A g-1. In addition, an asymmetrical supercapacitor fabricated using activated carbon as the negative electrode and the as-synthesised nanocomposite as the positive electrode exhibited a maximum energy density of 59.5 W h kg-1 at a power density of 1 kW h kg-1 and excellent cycling stability (100% capacitance retention after 5000 cycles). These results indicate that the hierarchical Co(OH)2@NiMoS4 nanocomposite has great potential for practical application in high-performance energy storage devices.
Synthesis and Electrochemical Properties of ZnO/C/Ni(OH)2 Nanorod Arrays on Carbon Cloth

Abstract:Supercapacitors have received considerable attention in energy storage devices over the past ten years due to their fast recharge ability, high power performance, long cycle life and environmental benign. Electrode materials are one of the crucial factors defining the electrochemical performance of supercapacitors. Rational design and optimizing the structure of electrode materials is one effective approach to enhance their electrochemical performance. In this study, a simple galvanostatic electrodeposition method is developed to grow ZnO nanorod arrays on the carbon cloth(CC). Then a thin layer of metal-organic framework (MOF) is coated on the surface of ZnO via hydrothermal method, followed by carbonization in N2 atmosphere at a high temperature for porous carbon layer to obtain ZnO/C composite nanorods. Subsequently, Ni(OH)2 nanoflakes were deposited on the surface of ZnO/C to form three-dimensional ZnO/C/Ni(OH)2 core-shell composite nanorod arrays on carbon cloth. The structure of Ni(OH)2 was adjusted by changing the time of electrodeposition and the optimal time was determined. The structural, morphological and electrochemical properties of ZnO/C/Ni(OH)2 were investigated. The hierarchical composite arrays may provide more electroactive sites, facilitate ion and electron transfer and thus result in remarkable electrochemical performance of the ternary composite electrode. The experimental results indicated that the ternary composite electrode material exhibited a high specific capacitance of 1051.9 F g -1 at a current density of 1.0 A g -1 and still remain 644.5 F g -1 as the current density increased up to 10 A g -1 , and good cycling stability (87.1% capacitance retention after 5000 cycles at 5.0 A g -1 ), demonstrating excellent electrochemical performance of ZnO/C/Ni(OH)2 composite electrode. This facile method provides a new strategy for design and application of metal oxides/porous carbon/metal hydroxides deposited on various substrates for advanced energy storage devices.

The porous nanostructures on CC not only provide large accessible surface area for fast ions diffusion, electron transport and efficient utilization of active CoS and Co3O4, but also reduce the internal resistance of electrodes, which leads to superior electrochemical performance of Co3O4@CoS/CC composite at 4 cycles of CoS deposition.

Abstract:The porous NiCoMo-based ternary nanosheet arrays have been synthesized on carbon cloth (CC) substrate by a simple hydrothermal process combined with electrochemical assisted template etching method. CC@ZnO@NiCoMo composite exhibits charge/discharge activation phenomenon and holds a capacitance of 8.84 F cm −2 after 3000 cycles at 8 mA cm −2 . The porous electrode structure formed by etching ZnO template not only makes it easier for the electrolyte to permeate and exposes the active point as much as possible, but also reduces the charge transfer impedance from 1.32 to 0.92 Ω. As expected, Asymmetric supercapacitors assembly with CC@ZnO@NiCoMo composite achieves a high energy density of 0.64 mWh cm −2 at 3.2 mW cm −2 and ultra-high cycle stability of 181 % after 10,000 cycles. The excellent electrochemical properties of the electrode material is mainly attributed to the synergistic effect between the multi-components of the nanosheets and the enrichment of Zn 2+ formed by template etching in the solution, which helps to maintain the relatively stable morphology of Ni-Co-Mo based nanosheets.

Abstract:Well-defined nanostructures are attractive due to their excellent advantages in enhancing the performance of electrochemical energy storage. In this work, a kind of hybrid structure of hierarchical CoNi2S4 nanosheet/nanotube array directly assembled on carbon fiber cloth has been designed and developed for high-performance supercapacitors. CoNi2S4 nanosheet/nanotube arrays are fabricated through orderly electrodeposition of ZnO nanorod arrays and CoNi2S4 nanosheets, followed by removing ZnO nanorods template. Benefiting from the unique hollow nanostructure with abundant electrochemical active sites, the specific capacitance of this electrode can reach up to 995.8 C g(-1) at a current density of 2 A g(-1), along with excellent rate capability (740 C g(-1) at 50 A g(-1)). Moreover, the hybrid supercapacitors are prepared by using hierarchical CoNi2S4 nanosheet/nanotube arrays as positive electrode and reduced graphene oxide-carbon nanotubes as negative electrode for energy storage application, which demonstrate a high energy density of 35 Wh kg(-1) at a power density of 3 kW kg(-1) and excellent cycle stability with 96.9% capacitance retention after 10000 cycles. Abstract:Hierarchical mesoporous NiCo2O4 nanoneedle arrays on carbon cloth have been fabricated by a simple hydrothermal approach combined with a post-annealing treatment. Such unique array nanoarchitectures exhibit remarkable electrochemical performance with high capacitance and desirable cycle life at high rates. When evaluated as an electrode material for supercapacitors, the NiCo2O4 nanoneedle arrays supported on carbon cloth was able to deliver high specific capacitance of 660 F g(-1) at current densities of 2 A g(-1) in 2 M KOH aqueous solution. In addition, the composite electrode shows excellent mechanical behavior and long-term cyclic stability (91.8% capacitance retention after 3,000 cycles). The fabrication method presented here is facile, cost-effective, and scalable, which may open a new pathway for real device applications.
Rational construction of NiCo2O4@Fe2O3 core-shell nanowire arrays for high-performance supercapacitors

Abstract:Fe2O3 electrode materials exhibit excellent electrochemical performance in electrochemical energy storage system. However, its poor electrical conductivity limits its future practical application. The binder-free NiCo2O4@Fe2O3 composites was reasonably designed and fabricated on carbon fiber paper with NiCo2O4 nanowires as conductive scaffold in the present investigation. The three-dimensional nanostructure of the porous Fe2O3 nanorods coated the NiCo2O4 nanowire arrays showed the fascinating electrochemical performance, including high specific capacitance of 262 mF/cm2 at a current density of 1 mA/cm2, and remarkable cycle stability with ~74.2% capacitance retention after 4000 cycles. The excellent pseudocapacitance performance of NiCo2O4@Fe2O3 composite materials is due to synergistic effect between NiCo2O4 and Fe2O3. The results of the present work show that NiCo2O4@Fe2O3 core-shell composite electrode is expected to exhibit excellent performance in the field of supercapacitors.

Abstract:It is a preferred method by constructing core - shell structured composites with heterojunctions to enhance the charge transfer and improve electrochemical performances for supercapacitors. In this work, we prepare NiCo2O4@CoS electrode materials on nickel foam via coating n - type CoS on p - type NiCo2O4 to form heterojunctions. The composite shows a synergistic effect from each component and has abundant active sites, as well as outstanding reaction kinetics. Density functional theory (DFT) analysis reveals that the NiCo2O4@CoS composite exhibits higher electronic conductivity than any single component. The NiCo2O4@CoS electrode presents an outstanding capacitance of 1902.5F g(-1) at the current density of 1 A g(-1). A hybrid capacitor with NiCo2O4@CoS as the positive electrode and activated carbon as the negative electrode shows a high energy density of 32.91 Wh kg(-1) at the power density of 425 W kg(-1) and an excellent stability of 81.5% initial capacitance after 5000 cycles at 1 A g(-1). The conclusions indicate that the heterojunction of NiCo2O4@CoS can be a potential electrode for supercapacitors.
Preparation of nanowire-like core–shell Ni3Se4@NiCo2O4/NF composite electrodes for high-performance supercapacitors

Abstract:Double transition metal oxides and oxygen group element compounds are widely used in supercapacitor electrode materials. In this work, nanowire-like NiCo 2 O 4 was synthesised using a hydrothermal method, and Ni 3 Se 4 was deposited on a nickel foam using NiCo 2 O 4 as the base material utilizing electrodeposition. Composites exhibit superior electrochemical properties with lower impedance values than single materials. Ni 3 Se 4 @NiCo 2 O 4 /NF composite showed an areal capacitance of 1404.17 mF cm −2 at 1 mA cm −2 , outperforming both NiCo 2 O 4 /NF (735.83 mF cm −2 ) and Ni 3 Se 4 /NF (523.5 mF cm −2 ) electrodes. The asymmetric supercapacitor is formed by using Ni 3 Se 4 @NiCo 2 O 4 /NF composite electrode as anode and carbon electrode as cathode with 3 M KOH solution as electrolyte. The device has an energy density of 0.0864 mWh cm −2 at a power density of 0.8 mW cm −2 and 0.0231 mWh cm −2 at a power density of 7.996 mW cm −2 . The capacitance retention of this asymmetric supercapacitor remained 91.76% after 5000 cycles at a current density of 10 mA cm −2 .

Abstract:The Co3O4@NiO composite electrode materials were successfully synthesized by a two-step hydrothermal method followed by annealing treatment. Due to their three-dimensional network structure, these composite materials exhibited a large specific surface area, enhancing their electrochemical performance. Consequently, the Co3O4@NiO electrode demonstrated a specific capacitance of 1306 F g-1 at a current density of 1 A g-1, an excellent specific capacitance retention rate of 95.5% after 3000 cycles even at 8 A g-1 and a coulombic efficiency approaching 100 %. These outstanding properties make the Co3O4@NiO composite materials as the promising electrode materials for high performance supercapacitors.

Abstract:Hybrid structured electrode materials for supercapacitors have attracted enormous interest. Abstract:Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have attracted intensive attention for high-performance supercapacitors owing to their large specific surface area and tunable pore structure. Herein, ultrathin NiCo-MOF nanosheets are fabricated by a facile ultrasonication at room temperature and employed as a supercapacitor electrode material. The unique nanosheet-like structure of NiCo-MOF provides more electroactive sites and a shorter pathway for electron transfer and electrolyte diffusion, resulting in excellent electrochemical performance with a high specific capacitance of 1202.1 F g–1 at 1 A g–1. In addition, an asymmetric supercapacitor of NiCo-MOF//activated carbon was assembled in 2 M KOH electrolyte. It delivers an energy density of 49.4 W h kg–1 at a power density of 562.5 W h kg–1 in a voltage window of 1.5 V. The results demonstrate a new method to fabricate ultrathin MOF nanosheets for high-performance supercapacitor electrode materials.

Abstract:NiCo2O4 with higher specific capacitance is an excellent pseudocapacitive material. However, the bulk NiCo2O4 material prevents the achievement of high energy desity and great rate performance due to the limited electroactive surface area. In this work, NiCo2O4 nanosheet arrays were deposited on flexible carbon fabric (CF) as a high-performance electrode for supercapacitors. The NiCo2O4 arrays were constructed by interconnected ultrathin nanosheets (10 nm) with many interparticle pores. The porous feature of NiCo2O4 nanosheets increases the amount of electroactive sites and facilitates the electrolyte penetration. Hence, the NiCo2O4/CF composites exhibited a high specific capacitance of 2658 F g(-1) (2 A g(-1)), good rate performance, and superior cycling life, suggesting the NiCo2O4/CF is a promising electrode material for flexible electrochemical capacitors.
