Abstract:For a connected Eulerian digraph, we define a delta invariant by its Laplacian matrix. We present characterizations and algorithms for it. We also compute delta invariant for some examples to illustrate its applications.

Abstract:First I will explain my motivation to introduce the $\delta$-invariants for Riemannian manifolds. I will also recall the notions of ideal immersions and best ways of living. Then I will present a few of the many applications of $\delta$-invariants to several areas in mathematics. Finally, I will present two optimal inequalities involving $\delta$-invariants for Lagrangian submanifolds obtained very recently in joint papers with F. Dillen, J. Van der Veken and L. Vrancken.

Abstract:In this paper, various kinds of invariants of directed graphs are summarized. In the first topic, the invariant w(G) for a directed graph G is introduced, which is primarily defined by S. Chen and X.M. Chen to solve a problem of weak connectedness of tensor product of two directed graphs. Further, we present our recent studies on the invariant w(G) in categorical view. In the second topic, Homology theory on directed graph is introduced, and we also cast on categorical view of the definition. The third topic mainly focuses on Laplacians on graphs, including traditional work and latest result of 1-laplacian by K.C.Chang. Finally, Zeta functions and Graded graphs are introduced, inclduing Bratteli-Vershik diagram, dual graded graphs and differential posets, with some applications in dynamic system.

Abstract:Given an $n$-vertex digraph $D$ and a labeling $\sigma:V(D)\to [n]$, we say that an arc $u\to v$ of $D$ is a descent of $\sigma$ if $\sigma(u)>\sigma(v)$. Foata and Zeilberger introduced a generating function $A_D(t)$ for labelings of $D$ weighted by descents, which simultaneously generalizes both Eulerian polynomials and Mahonian polynomials. Motivated by work of Kalai, we look at problems related to $-1$ evaluations of $A_D(t)$. In particular, we give a combinatorial interpretation of $|A_D(-1)|$ in terms of "generalized alternating permutations" whenever the underlying graph of $D$ is bipartite.

Abstract:In 2010, Vukičević introduced an new graph invariant, the inverse sum indeg index of a graph, which has been studied due to its wide range of applications. Let Bnd be the class of bipartite graphs of order n and diameter d. In this paper, we mainly characterize the bipartite graphs in Bnd with the maximal inverse sum indeg index. Bipartite graphs with the largest, second-largest, and smallest inverse sum indeg indexes are also completely characterized.

Abstract:We study the minimal $q$-exponent $\Delta$ in the BPS $q$-series $\widehat{Z}$ of negative definite plumbed 3-manifolds equipped with a spin$^c$-structure. We express $\Delta$ of Seifert manifolds in terms of an invariant commonly used in singularity theory. We provide several examples illustrating the interesting behaviour of $\Delta$ for non-Seifert manifolds. Finally, we compare $\Delta$ invariants with correction terms in Heegaard--Floer homology.

Abstract:We investigate the torsion function or landscape function and its integral, the torsional rigidity, of Laplacians on metric graphs subject to $\delta$-vertex conditions. A variational characterization of torsional rigidity and Hadamard-type formulas are obtained, enabling the derivation of surgical principles. We use these principles to prove upper and lower bounds on the torsional rigidity and identify graphs maximizing and minimizing torsional rigidity among classes of graphs. We also investigate the question of positivity of the torsion function and reduce it to positivity of the spectrum of a particular discrete, weighted Laplacian. Additionally, we explore potential manifestations of Kohler-Jobin-type inequalities in the context of $\delta$-vertex conditions.

Abstract:We apply a novel method for the equivalence group and its infinitesimal generators to the investigation of invariants of linear ordinary differential equations. First, a comparative study of this method is illustrated by an example. Next, the method is used to obtain the invariants of low order linear ordinary differential equations, and the structure invariance group for an arbitrary order of these equations. Other properties of these equations are also discussed, including the exact number of their invariants.

Abstract: We study free scalar field theory on a graph, which gives rise to a modified version of discrete Green's function on a graph studied in \cite{CY}. We show that this gives rise to a graph invariant, which is closely related to the 2-dim Weisfeiler-Lehman algorithm for graph isomorphism testing. We complement this invariant by another type of graph invariants, coming from viewing graphs as quadratic forms over the integers. We explain that the combination of these two ideas give rise to an interesting approach to the graph isomorphism problem.

Abstract:A recently defined graph invariant denoted by $$\varOmega (G)$$ for a graph G is shown to have several applications in graph theory. This number gives direct information on the realizability, number of realizations, connectedness, cyclicness, number of components, chords, loops, pendant edges, faces, bridges, etc. In this paper, we use $$\varOmega $$ to give a characterization of connected unicyclic graphs, to calculate the omega invariant and to formalize the number of faces of the line graph of a tree, and give a new algorithm to formalize the independence number of graphs G and line graphs L(G) by means of the support vertices, pendant vertices and isolated vertices in G.

Abstract:Abstract In this article we study the delta invariant of reduced curve germs via topological techniques. We describe an explicit connection between the delta invariant of a curve embedded in a rational singularity and the topological Poincaré series of the ambient surface. This connection is established by using another formula expressing the delta invariant as ‘periodic constants’ of the Poincaré series associated with the abstract curve and a ‘twisted’ duality developed for the Poincaré series of the ambient space.
