Abstract:A new approach to the construction of 2-arylbenzothiazole through the direct oxidative coupling from benzothiazoles and phenylglycine derivatives is disclosed. The method which mediated by Cu(OTf)2/K2S2O8 system affords a variety of useful substituted 2-arylbenzothiazole derivatives in an efficient and practical manner.

Abstract:Several aromatic aldehydes and sodium bisulfite were mixed to prepare hydroxyl sulfonates,which were added to o-phenylenediamine or substituted o-phenylenediamine in refluxing ethanol to afford 2-substi-tuted benzimidazoles through oxidation by air directly.One of the fifteen synthesized compounds,2-(4-chlorophyenyl)-6-methoxyl-1H-benzimidazole has not been reported.All the compounds were identified by IR,1H NMR spectra and elemental analysis.The method is simple,mild,eco-friendly and requires no catalyst.

Abstract:A convenient and efficient synthesis of 2-substituted benzo[b]thiophenes is described. This one-step reaction of alkylthiobenzaldehyde and activated electrophiles proceeded smoothly in toluene at 120 degrees C with magnesium oxide as a catalyst. The target 2-substituted benzo[b]thiophenes are obtained in moderate yields and the side reaction is inhibited via azeotropic distillation. According to the experiments, a plausible mechanism is presented.

Abstract:A Lewis-acid-promoted approach to the synthesis of highly functionalized dihydrobenzofuran derivatives was developed. A diverse range of functional groups are tolerated in this type of reaction. Abstract:An iron-catalyzed procedure was employed to achieve both the Sonogashira cross-coupling and intramolecular o-arylation of o-iodophenols and aryl acetylenes/1-substituted-2-trimethylsilyl acetylenes. A variety of 2-arylbenzo[b]furans were synthesized in moderate to good yields under the catalysis of 5% FeCl3 and 10% 1,10-phenanthroline.

Abstract:2-Trifluoromethyl and 2-difluoromethyl substituted benzimidazole, benzoxazole and benzothiazole derivatives were efficiently prepared through a one-pot reaction of trifluoroacetic acid and difluoroacetic acid, respectively, with commercially available o-phenylenediamines, 2-aminophenols, and 2-aminobenzenethiols in good to excellent yields. Subsequential bromination of 2-difluoromethyl groups by photolysis with NBS led to the formation of bromodifluoromethyl benzo-1,3-diazoles which may be utilized to prepare the new generation of gem-difluoromethylene linked identical or non-identical twin molecules for drug synthesis.

Abstract:We report herein an efficient synthesis of 3‐arylbenzothiazolin‐2‐one compounds. First, substituted benzothiazoles can be smoothly oxidized to benzothiazolin‐2‐one derivatives in the presence of CuCl2 and trifluoroacetic anhydride. Secondly, the Cu2S‐catalyzed N‐arylation of benzothiazolin‐2‐one with arylboronic acids yields a series of novel 3‐aryl benzothiazolin‐2‐one derivatives. The method provides good yields for a variety of substrates and shows good compatibility with functional groups. The usefulness of the skeleton was further illustrated by the derivatisation of 3‐aryl‐benzothiazolin‐2‐one. Mechanistic studies suggest that the oxidation of benzothiazole may undergo a free radical reaction process.
