Abstract:An unexpected process from tetrahydrodiazirino[3,1-a]isoquinolines and diversified sulfonyl chlorides RSO2Cl (R=aryl, alkyl) to deliver highly yields 4,5-dihydro-3H-benzo[d][1,2]diazepine skeleton compounds was disclosed via N-insertion ring-opening reaction. The structural framework of 2,3-benzodiazepines is unambiguously confirmed by single-crystal X-ray crystallographic analysis. The present protocol features mild reaction conditions, high yields and feasibility of large-scale synthesis and catalyst-free access to benzo[2,3]diazepines skeleton. In contrast, azomethine imines were produced by employing tetrahydrodiazirino[3,1-a]isoquinoline reacts with aroyl chlorides under the same conditions.

Abstract:The synthesis of (E)-2-(4-bromostyryl)quinoline involves an acid catalysed condensation of 2-methylquinoline and 4-bromobenzaldehyde. (E)-4'-[(2-(Quinolin-2-yl)vinyl)]-(1,1'-biphenyl)-4-carbaldehyde has been synthesised from (E)-2-(4-bromostyryl) quinoline and 4-formylphenylboronic acid via a Suzuki coupling reaction. A series of novel quinoline derivatives containing both a biphenyl group and an alpha, beta-diarylacrylonitrile unit have been prepared by the base-catalysed condensation between (E)-4'-[(2-(quinolin-2-yl)vinyl)]-(1,1'-biphenyl)-4-carbaldehyde and various arylacetonitriles. By contrast, the acid-catalysed condensation of the latter aldehyde with several aniline derivatives has been used to synthesise quinolines containing an imine group. These compounds, which have implications for the manufacture of organic light-emitting diodes, emit blue to green fluorescence with maximum emission peaks of 419-531 nm in solution and in the solid state under UV irradiation. Thermogravimetric analysis reveals their good thermal stability with a decomposition temperature range from 313 to 387 degrees C.

Abstract:9,11,12,14-Tetraaryldibenzo[f,h]imidazo[1,2-b]isoquinolines 3a-h were synthesized in moderate yields through the reaction of benzils with 1,3-diphenyl-2H-cyclopenta[l]phenanthren-2-ones and ammonium acetate. The photophysical properties of the products in solutions and in thin films were investigated, and strong emissions ranging from 492 to 516 nm were observed in cyclohexane solutions. Moreover, 3h exhibited potential as a versatile fluorescent chemosensor for the detection of solvent polarity, acidity, or trace amounts of nitroaromatics.

Abstract:Here, a general copper-catalyzed radical cascade carbocyclization reaction with 2-arylbenzoimidazoles and a Togni reagent was realized. Structurally diverse CF3-containing tetracyclic core benzimidazo[2,1-a]isoquinoline-6(5H)-ones were obtained in moderate to good yields. The wide substrate scope, good functional group tolerance, and ease of scale-up of this method are expected to promote its potential applications in pharmacy and biotechnology.

Abstract:A Rh(III)-catalyzed reaction of N-methoxybenzamides and 4-diazoisochroman-3-imines is described. This method offers a rapid entry to 3-amino-4-arylisoquinolinone architectures from readily available starting materials under mild reaction conditions. A one-pot cascade C-H bond activation/formal [4 + 2] cycloaddition mechanism is proposed. The synthesized 3-amino-4-arylisoquinolinones can be conveniently converted into dibenzo[c,f][1,8]naphthyridines.

Abstract:A cost‐effective protocol has been used for the synthesis of novel benzo[g]benzo[4,5]imidazo[2,1-b]quinazoline derivatives. This domino, one‐pot, three‐component reaction was carried out between 2-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone, aromatic aldehydes, and 2-aminobenzimidazole in the presence of piperidine in DMF solvent. This protocol has several advantages such as a convenient operational process, easy access to raw material, good yields and simple work-up. The structure of these compounds were characterized by spectroscopic techniques such as IR, 1 H-NMR, 13 C-NMR and CHN analysis.

Abstract:A visible‐light‐catalyzed formal [3 + 2] annulation‐aromatization reaction for the synthesis of various substituted imidazo[2,1‐a]isoquinolines from amidines with stabilized isoquinolinium N‐ylides in the presence of bases is developed. The procedure reported here involves a direct C‐H activation and the formation of C‐C/C‐N bonds in one‐pot. The reaction mechanism is probed by radical‐trapping experiment, fluorescence quenching, and light on/off experiments. The late‐stage modification experiments provide the potential applications in the field of organic and medicinal chemistry for chemists.

Abstract:Photocatalytic synthesis of 2, 4‐substituted quinazolines via one‐pot, three‐component reaction using ammonium acetate as the nitrogen source. A novel, catalyst‐free photoinduced synthesis of 2,4‐substituted quinazoline using 2‐amino‐aryl ketone, an aldehyde, and ammonium acetate was developed. A series of 2,4‐substituted quinazoline compounds were obtained via irradiating the reactants with a light‐emitting diode light (18 W) at room temperature. The broad substrate range and excellent gram‐scale experimental results demonstrate the versatility of the reaction. To the best of our knowledge, the synthesis of 2,4‐substituted quinazoline using ammonium acetate as the nitrogen source under photocatalysis has not been reported thus far. This method utilizes visible light oxidation to eliminate the use of oxidants in the reaction and is complementary to previous methods.

Abstract:An unprecedented I2/FeCl3-promoted cascade reaction of aryl methyl ketones with 8-aminoquinolines for the convenient synthesis of (E)-3-(2-acyl-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-4-yl)acrylaldehydes was developed by merging annulation with ring deconstruction. This novel strategy unlocked the new reactivity of 8-aminoquinolines and provided an attractive platform for the ring opening of unactivated N-heteroaromatic compounds. Preliminary mechanistic investigation suggested that dual C(sp3)–H amination/C–N bond cleavage were key reaction steps. Abstract:Benzoxazolo[3,2-b]isoquinolin-11-ones 4, benzothiazolo[3,2-b]isoquinolin-11-one 5, benzimidazo[1,2-b]isoquinolin-11-ones 6 and isoquino[2,3-a][3,1]benzoxazine-5,12-dione 7 were synthesized by the reaction of homophthalic anhydride with the corresponding o-substituted anilines. Reaction mechanisms were investigated by isolation of the intermediate products under controlled reaction conditions. Electronic structures of 4a and 5 were investigated by ab initio Calculations. Photoinduced [2+2] cycloaddition reactions of 4a and 5 with electron deficient alkenes (acrylonitrile, methyl acrylate, dimethyl fumarate and dimethyl maleate) gave cyclobutane products (36, 37 and 39-47 respectively). The regioselectivity in these photocycloadditions was examined by FMO interaction considerations. The mechanism of the cycloadditions was investigated by fluorescence quenching and triplet quenching experiments, solvent effect on the reaction and calculation of free energy change for electron transfer (SET) between the excited states of 4a (and 5) and the alkenes.
