Abstract:The Chinese path to modernization shares characteristics with modernization in all countries,but it also has the characteristics based on its own national conditions. Common prosperity is an important feature and essential requirement of the Chinese path to modernization. This journal presents a series of written discussions on the major issues in this area such as the universality of common prosperity,the Chinese path to modernization,and the provincial first exploration of practice pathways. People-centered modernization leads to common prosperity. The fundamental pathway for human modernization is to improve the allocation of rights and opportunities to achieve the general equality of capabilities. The team of private entrepreneurs in Zhejiang is a valuable resource and bearer of high-quality development and common prosperity in Zhejiang. The high-quality development of the private economy is related to the Chinese path to modernization. Common prosperity and provincial modernization in advance conform to the general law of socialist development and evolving modernization,laying a Chinese path to universal modernization. The innovation discourse of the Chinese path to modernization,which combines particularity with universality,has universal enlightenment for human modernization. The Chinese path to modernization is a new type and it is constantly enriched. The coupling of modernization and common prosperity creates universality in human modernization. Abstract:Chinese modernization is formed in the historical process that adapts Marxism to the Chinese context and to the needs of our times. It represents a great initiative of the Communist Party of China and the Chinese people. Chinese modernization has broken through the problematic model of capital-centered modernization found in Western countries, and has established a model of people-centered socialist modernization that has enormous global importance. The essential requirements of Chinese modernization in the new journey of the new era are as follows: upholding the leadership of the Communist Party of China and socialism with Chinese characteristics; pursuing high-quality development; developing whole-process people's democracy; enriching the cultural lives of the people; achieving common prosperity for all; promoting harmony between humanity and nature; building a human community with a shared future; and creating a new form of human advancement. This is necessary not only for building a modern socialist country in all respects and realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, but also for further adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and to the needs of our times.

Abstract:Modernization and a comfortably-off society are organically related to each other;therefore,the construction course of modernization can be started in the areas that take the lead in achieving an all-round comfortably-off society.People First is the orientation of modernization,in which all the people's demands for health,enjoyment,development,social security and environment need to be manifested after a comfortably-off society is achieved.Common wealth is justifiably the main quality of socialist modernization with Chinese characteristics.To promote modernization in new developmental modes requires not only the conversion to intensive modes focusing on increasing efficiency but also the adjustment and optimization of industrial structure as well as the implement of the innovation-driving strategy.Modernization needs to be harmonious and sustainable and requires the social and cultural construction centered on the modernization of people as well as the construction of ecological civilization.Lastly,the construction of modernization requires the confrontation with agriculture and the rural areas,the integration of urban and rural development,as well as the balance between opening up and domestic development.

Abstract:Chinese path to modernization is a modernization that combines the Chinese characteristics and the commonality of modernizations in different countries. Chinese path to modernization, based on the overall trend of the development of world history, is a compound and dialectical modernization, providing a modernization practice plan advancing in development and fully reflecting the characteristics of socialism. In terms of choosing the road to development, it has completed the perfect combination of the basic principles of scientific socialism with China’s reality. In terms of choosing the social system, it has adhered to and consolidated the socialist system with Chinese characteristics. At the level of development goals, it adheres to the goal of leading human civilization and moving towards communism. In general, Chinese path to modernization is a truly people-centered socialist modernization path, i.e., following the people-centered principle throughout the whole process of modernization. It fully demonstrates the dominant position of the Chinese people, the nature of the social relationship, the value of existence and the prospects for development. Abstract:Modernization is the process of transformation and development from traditional agricultural society to modern industrial society and information society. A necessary path and inevitable choice for human society in its development to an advanced stage, modernization represents the direction of progress and driving force of development for human civilization. At once a reflection and critique, a dialectical sublation, and an overall transcendence of traditional society, modernization is led by an advanced class that embodies the contemporary spirit. For its promotion, modernization relies principally on the three levers of science and technology, capital, and the market, and as its goal, it posits the realization of industrialization, urbanization, and informatization. Led by the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Chinese path to modernization is socialist in its essence, and possesses not only the common properties of modernization, but also Chinese characteristics based on China's particular national conditions. Abstract:Rapid development in a transitioning society will surely bring to fore as many positive consequences as negative ones. Drawing upon Amartya Sen and Fromm, this concept of Entwicklungsdialektik is put forward to generalize the pathological representation of this highly mixed record of development.The solution to such Entwicklungsparadox lies in the shift from mechanical solidarity (as a characteristic of traditional society)to organic solidarity (typical of a modern one),enabling the latter to increase in both scale and depth in the society.A critical reflection on the Durkheimian thesis on “occupational groups/corporation”paves the way for us to propose the new concept of civitas homini ,which is characterized by “the new quintochomy of human relations,”“an all-in-all consideration of both Vernünftigkeit and Rationalit?t,” “priority to individual choice preferences,” and “intersubjective recognition.” This concept is of greater hermeneutic value and empirical validity for the reality in contemporary China.

Abstract:Between the new Chinese-style modernized path and the new form of human civilization exists the civilization-valued self-consistency in the people’s nature of subjectivity, developmental comprehensiveness, and goal orientation; and in terms of the historic essential attributes about inheritance and active action, exists the self-consistency between them on the historical process from the Chinese nation’s getting up, to getting rich, to getting strong; in terms of the theoretical attributes aimed at the all-round development of human beings, exists the self-consistency between them on the mutual innovation and mutual growth; in adhering to the people-centered practical attribute, exists the self-consistency between them following “people first” as the most fundamental value. Abstract:The modernization of harmonious coexistence between man and nature is an important connotation of Chinese path to modernization. It is based on the reflection on the anti-ecological attributes of western modernization and industrial civilization, and is refined on the basis of decades of hard practice in China. Due to the anti-ecologic nature of capitalism and mechanistic worldview, severe resource and environmental problems emerge inevitably alongside western modernization. Latecomers are facing multiple shortcomings trying to replicate and transplant western modernization mode and thus are trapped with series of problems in development. It is high time for us to explore a true modernization path that would promote sustainable livelihood and human development. Modernization of harmonious coexistence between human and nature is a scientific path laid upon historic reflections and years of experimental experience, with deep cultural roots,sound theoretical foundation and institutional advantage in China, which would be the key to build China’s ecological civilization. We should revolutionize fully in all three levels of technical, institutional and ideological to promote the modernization of harmonious coexistence between man and nature.
