Deformation resulting from a seismic wave in heterogeneous dissipative media can cause pore fluid pressure relaxation at mesoscopic scale, and thereby making the fluid mobility inherently associated with poroeasltic reflectivity. We use the poroelastic reflection coefficient at the interface of heterogeneous dissipative media, to study the effect of mobility on the seismic signatures. The numerical results suggest that fluid mobility significantly affect the seismic responses of highly dispersive rocks, and different geological circumstances exhibit distinct amplitude-versus-mobility (AVM) characteristics. The physical mechanism standing behind the mobility-dependent seismic reflection signatures is further analyzed in detail. The modeling results provide a general framework for amplitude-versus-mobility interpretation in highly attenuating reservoirs.
