But it is difficult to identify the gas reservoir because the porosity and permeability are extremely low which leads to the tiny differences in elastic parameters. Fluid indicators derived form traditional AVO method can identify fluid but have limited accuracy. Actually, rocks saturated with gas perform high dispersion due to fluid flow, so it can be used to identify hydrocarbon. Frequency-dependent AVO inversion (FAVO) can obtain information of dispersion induced by fluid flow, if combine the information with elastic parameters, the accuracy of fluid identify can be improved. However, the results of FAVO inversion are affected by the accuracy of time-frequency analysis methods. In this abstract, we use the inversion spectral decomposition (ISD) to obtain high resolution time-frequency spectrum and for FAVO inversion. Further, we propose a stability and high resolution indicator, which is derived from FAVO and traditional AVO. Testing on real data reveals that this new indicator can discriminate the hydrocarbon zones more accurately and consistent with well logging data well, which demonstrate the reliability of this method in hydrocarbon detection.
