Abstract:A new procedure for synthesis of tetra-substituted imidazoles was developed. A series of imidazole derivatives including six new compounds were synthesized by this procedure via condensation of benzoin, aromatic aldehyde, amine and ammonium acetate in the presence of silica gel under solvent-free microwave irradiation.

Abstract:Under regular heating or microwave irradiation, 3-alkyl substituted imidazo[1,5-a]pyridines were synthesized from 2,2'-pyridil or di-2-pyridyl ketone and aliphatic aldehydes in the presence of ammonium acetate and acetic acid. Compared to the traditional heating condition, 3-alkyl imidazo[1,5-a]pyridines were obtained with higher yields and shorter reaction time under microwave irradiation. All products were characterized by their H-1 NMR, MS spectra and elemental analysis.

Abstract:A solvent-free microwave-assisted synthesis of trisubstituted imidazoles is reported. The imidazoles are produced by the condensation of alpha-hydroxyketone with an aldehyde over silica gel or alumina impregnated with ammonium acetate as the solid support in short time with good yields. An air oxidation mechanism is proposed, and this clean air oxidation considerably reduces the cost of imidazole synthesis.

Abstract:A series of 2-amino-4-aryl-5-oxo-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-4H-chromene-3-carbonitrile derivatives (4a similar to 4g) were prepared by using 1,3-cyclohexanedione, aromatic aldehydes and malononitrile in anhydrous alcohol under microwave irradiation without catalyst. Compared with conventional heating method, the method of microwave irradiation possesses advantages including short time, high yield and environmental friendliness, etc. The structures of these compounds were characterized by IR, (1)H NMR spectra and elemental analysis.

Abstract:An effective synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-one derivatives using ionic liquid 1-n-butyl-3-methylimmidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([bmim]PF6) as the catalyst from aldehydes, 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds and urea (thiourea) under microwave irradiation is described. This new method has the advantage of high yields (80-95% for aromatic aldehydes) and short reaction time (3-5 min).

Abstract:A series of novel substituted 8-chloro-6-(trifluoromethyl)-[1,2,4]triazolo[4,3-a]pyridines are synthesised from 2,3-dichloro-5-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine, hydrazine hydrate as starting materials by multi-step reactions under microwave irradiation. Abstract:γ-Carbolines were obtained in a simple one-pot Fischer arting from N-acetyl-3-bromo-4-piperidone hydrobro-reaction starting from N-acetyl-3-bromo-4-piperidone hydrobromide and substituted arylhydrazine hydrochlorides in acidic media under microwave irradiation or by a thermal process. The optimization procedures are reported in detail, and the results from micro-wave processes are compared with conventional ones.

Abstract:Copper(II)/polyimide‐linked covalent organic frameworks under solvent‐free and microwave‐assisted conditions have been used in an efficient one‐pot protocol for the preparation of 2,4,5‐trisubstituted imidazoles via benzil, aromatic aldehydes and ammonium acetate. By applying solvent‐free conditions and microwave irradiation, three‐component condensation provides safe operations, low pollution, quick access to products, and an easy set‐up. As a result of its reusability, the catalyst can also be reutilized for many runs without missing any activity.
