Abstract:A solvent-free microwave-assisted synthesis of trisubstituted imidazoles is reported. The imidazoles are produced by the condensation of alpha-hydroxyketone with an aldehyde over silica gel or alumina impregnated with ammonium acetate as the solid support in short time with good yields. An air oxidation mechanism is proposed, and this clean air oxidation considerably reduces the cost of imidazole synthesis.

Abstract:A facile high-yield, solvent-free approach for the synthesis of a series of 1-(hydroxymethyl)-pyrazoles under microwave irradiation was developed for the first time. The structures of four pyrazoles compounds were characterised by a single-crystal X-ray diffraction, and showed interesting intermolecular O-H center dot center dot center dot N hydrogen bonding linking two pyrazoles molecules to form R22(10) dimer architectures. In additional, the intermolecular interactions in the crystal were investigated through the Hirshfeld surface analysis to understand the charac-teristics of the close contacts, and the 2D-fingerprint plot data exposed that a significant contributions to the crystal packing are from N center dot center dot center dot H/H center dot center dot center dot N contacts. The geometry optimization, electronic properties and energies level of HOMO, LUMO were performed by Density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Quantitative electro-static potential analysis (ESP) and independent gradient model based on Hirshfeld partition (IGMH) explained the active hydrogen bonding sites in four pyrazoles compounds and confirmed the hydrogen bonding modes in their crystal structure.

Abstract:A series of 1,3-diphenyl-2-pyrazoline derivatives 3 were synthesized starting from substituted phenylhydrazine hydrochloride (1) and beta-dimethylaminopropiophenone hydrochloride (2) under microwave irradiation conditions. The reactions were easily worked up with short time and high yields.

Abstract:An effective synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-one derivatives using ionic liquid 1-n-butyl-3-methylimmidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([bmim]PF6) as the catalyst from aldehydes, 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds and urea (thiourea) under microwave irradiation is described. This new method has the advantage of high yields (80-95% for aromatic aldehydes) and short reaction time (3-5 min).

Abstract:The three-component reaction between an isoquinoline, a dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylate and 2,2,2-trifluoro-1-phenylethanone involving a 1,4-dipolar cycloaddition cascade approach is developed using a continuous-flow microreactor. The reaction conditions (solvent, flow rate and temperature) are optimized leading to the synthesis 2-(trifluoromethyl)-2H-[1,3]oxazino[2,3-a]isoquinoline derivatives in 79-83% isolated yields, whilst eliminating the formation of 11bH-pyrido[2,1-a]isoquinoline-12,3,4-tetracarboxylate by-products. The continuous-flow method is also applied to similar reactions using aromatic aldehydes as the carbonyl component.

Abstract:An efficient method for the synthesis of isoquinolinone derivatives via photopromoted carboamination of alkynes is developed. Starting from the readily available propargyl alcohol derivatives, the polycyclic isoquinolinone derivatives could be obtained with good aryl and heterocycle tolerance. Both terminal and alkyl substituted alkynes could be employed. This protocol is operationally easy, and easily conducted on a gram-scale. A possible mechanism involving radical addition and cyclization following aromatization was proposed.

Abstract:A series of novel substituted 8-chloro-6-(trifluoromethyl)-[1,2,4]triazolo[4,3-a]pyridines are synthesised from 2,3-dichloro-5-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine, hydrazine hydrate as starting materials by multi-step reactions under microwave irradiation. Their chemical structures can be characterised by 1H NMR, MS and elemental analysis. The title compounds exhibit weak antifungal activity.

Abstract:The highly accelerated Niementowski synthesis of quinazolin- 4( 3H)- one and quinazolin- 2,4-dione derivatives under microwave irradiation is reported. Compared to the conventional conditions, this new method shows the advantages of a good substrate tolerance, and a clean and rapid conversion. The method has been successfully applied for the construction of the key intermediate of iressa.

Abstract:A facile approach has been developed for the synthesis of dihydrocoumarin derivatives through the reaction of phenols and cinnamoyl chloride in the presence of ecofriendly solid-acid catalyst montmorillonite K-10 via a tandem esterification-Friedel-Crafts alkylation process under microwave irradiation. The catalyst could be easily recovered and recycled.

Abstract:Herein, a microwave promoted tandem reaction of free primary arylamines with diazo compounds in water for clean synthesis of 2,2‐disubstituted 3‐oxindoles is present. Water plays important roles in the whole cascade process: O‐H insertion to diazo, air oxidation, ortho C‐H functionalization, cyclization and 1,2‐ester migration. In particular, water plays a mediation role in the site selective ortho‐C‐H addition.
