Abstract:Under regular heating or microwave irradiation, 3-alkyl substituted imidazo[1,5-a]pyridines were synthesized from 2,2'-pyridil or di-2-pyridyl ketone and aliphatic aldehydes in the presence of ammonium acetate and acetic acid. Compared to the traditional heating condition, 3-alkyl imidazo[1,5-a]pyridines were obtained with higher yields and shorter reaction time under microwave irradiation. All products were characterized by their H-1 NMR, MS spectra and elemental analysis.

Abstract:An effective synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-one derivatives using ionic liquid 1-n-butyl-3-methylimmidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([bmim]PF6) as the catalyst from aldehydes, 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds and urea (thiourea) under microwave irradiation is described. This new method has the advantage of high yields (80-95% for aromatic aldehydes) and short reaction time (3-5 min).

Abstract:The condensation of 4-amino-3-aryl-5-mercapto-1, 2, 4-triazoles (1a-f) with 6-/8-substituted 1,4-dihydro-4-oxo-quinoline-3-carboxylic acids (2a-d) in the presence of phosphorus oxychloride on refluxing or under microwave irradiation gave twenty four novel 3-aryl-6- (6-/8-substituted 4-chloroquinoline-3-yl)-s-triazlo[3,4-b]-1,3,4-thiadiazoles (4a-x), Considerable increase in the reaction rate has been observed with improved yields under microwave irradiation. The structures of the compounds synthesized were determined by elemental analyses, IR, H-1 NMR and MS spectra. Their spectral properties and the reaction mechanism were also dis cussed. The preliminary biological test showed that some of compounds had moderate antibacterial activities.

Abstract:The one-pot U-4CR and intramolecular O-alkylation sequence starting from 2-aminophenols in combination with α-bromoalkanoic acids, aldehydes, and isocyanides under controlled microwave heating has been established for a rapid access to highly functionalized 3,4-dihydro-3-oxo-2H-1,4-benzoxazines. With appropriate substitutions on the 1,4-benzoxazines, a microwave-assisted Cu-catalyzed intramolecular amidation was performed to furnish a novel class of heterocyclic conjugates of 1,4-benzoxazines with a 2-oxindole linked through a C–N single bond.

Abstract:Antimony trichloride (SbCl3) was found to be an effective catalyst (1 mol%) for one-pot synthesis of quinazolin-4(3H)-ones in good to excellent yields using anthranilamide and acyl chlorides under microwave irradiation. This method has the advantages of simplicity, mild reaction conditions, highly tolerant to several functional groups, as well as the avoidance of hazardous solvents.

Abstract:A series of 2-methylthio-3-cyano-7-substituted pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines (3a similar to 3f) by the reaction of substituted enaminones 1 with 3-methylthio-4-cyano-5-amino-1H-pyrazole (2) have been conveniently synthesized via conventional method and microwave irradiation technique. By comparison of the two methods, microwave irradiation possessed such advantages as short reaction time, environmentally benign procedures, easy purification and high yield over the conventional stirring at ambient temperature. The structure of all compounds was characterized by elemental analyses, IR, H-1 NMR spectra. In the meantime, the plausible mechanism was discussed. The preliminary test showed that certain compounds had somewhat herbicidal activities.

Abstract:The highly accelerated Niementowski synthesis of quinazolin- 4( 3H)- one and quinazolin- 2,4-dione derivatives under microwave irradiation is reported.
