A Causation Model of the Key Factors that Impact on the Success of the Application of ERP

Abstract:Whereas studies in the past identified numerous key factors of successes in the implementation of enterprise resource planning(ERP) systems,less attention has been paid to the application of these factors after rollout,and still less researches have been made in the study on the relationship between the fundamental elements of success.Based on the use of ERP after rollout,we have,in this article,by a two-stage qualitative research,explored and constructed a causality model of the essential factors the impact on the successful appliance of ERP.At the first stage,we have,taking the published articles as the source of data and using the method of contents analysis,identified 48 critical key factors;at the second stage,we have conducted two rounds of focus group study and used,for reference,the soft systems methodology to construct a causal model that takes as the core the six second-order concepts consisting of the successful usage of ERP,the quality of data,the sustained use,the system quality,the IS-business alignment,and the maintenance plus support.In addition,we have specified the composition of each concept.
