Abstract:Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems have emerged as the core of successful information management and the enterprise backbone of organizations. The difficulties of ERP implementations have been widely cited in the literature but research on the critical factors for initial and ongoing ERP implementation success is rare and fragmented. Through a comprehensive review of the literature, 11 factors were found to be critical to ERP implementation success – ERP teamwork and composition; change management program and culture; top management support; business plan and vision; business process reengineering with minimum customization; project management; monitoring and evaluation of performance; effective communication; software development, testing and troubleshooting; project champion; appropriate business and IT legacy systems. The classification of these factors into the respective phases (chartering, project, shakedown, onward and upward) in Markus and Tanis’ ERP life cycle model is presented and the importance of each factor is discussed.

Abstract:Enterprise resource planning (ERP) system is one of the most widely accepted choices to obtain competitive advantage for manufacturing companies. However, the successful implementation rate is low and many firms did not achieve intended goals in China. This study develops an ERP implementation success framework by adapting the Ives et al. information systems (ISs) research model and DeLone and McLean's IS success model to identify both critical success factors and success measures. Qualitative case study research methodology is used to collect data and Atlas/ti program is used to facilitate data analysis. Discussion is made finally and suggested ERP systems implementation methodology is given at the end.

Abstract:Since early 1990s, many firms around the world have shifted their information technology (IT) strategy from developing information systems in-house to purchasing application software such as enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. IT managers responsible for managing their organization’s ERP implementation view their ERP systems as their organizations’ most strategic computing platform. However, despite such strategic importance, ERP projects report an unusually high failure rate, sometimes jeopardizing the core operations of the implementing organization. This study explores the root of such high failure rate from an “organizational fit of ERP” perspective. Based on the relevant literature, we define the concept of organizational fit of ERP and examine its impact on ERP implementation, together with ERP implementation contingencies. The results from our field survey of 34 organizations show that ERP implementation success significantly depends on the organizational fit of ERP and certain implementation contingencies.

Abstract:The successful implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems relies heavily on the interplay between management-specific factors and operational-specific factors. This study investigates these critical success factors, focusing on their impact on organizational performance. Management-specific factors, including top management support, package selection, and organizational fit, provide strategic direction and resources, ensuring alignment with operational goals. The research employed a quantitative approach to gather data from employees of selected organizations that have implemented ERP systems. The survey targeted employees from selected organizations who use ERP systems. The responses were analyzed using statistical techniques such as frequency analysis, mean, standard deviation, Spearman’s rank correlation, and multiple regression to identify the relationships and impacts of various CSFs on ERP implementation success. The study reveals that effective project management significantly enhances package selection, while comprehensive training improves organizational fit. Communication emerges as a pivotal element, influencing all aspects of ERP implementation. These findings underscore the necessity for a balanced approach that integrates both management and operational strategies to achieve optimal ERP outcomes and organizational efficiency.

Abstract:This paper explores the effects of organizational culture on ERP implementation.Adopted with scales of Susan,Sonia,and Kenneth,organizational culture is measured with six subscales.The performance of ERP implementation is measured by user satisfaction.With SPSS,research model is tested with 289 valid data.The results confirm that organizational culture,especially climate-morale,involvement,supervision,and meetings;affect the performance of ERP implementation.

Abstract:The successful implementation of various enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems has provoked considerable interest over the last few years. Management has recently been enticed to look toward these new information technologies and philosophies of manufacturing for the key to survival or competitive edges. Although there is no shortage of glowing reports on the success of ERP installations, many companies have tossed millions of dollars in this direction with little to show for it. Since many of the ERP failures today can be attributed to inadequate planning prior to installation, we choose to analyze several critical planning issues including needs assessment and choosing a right ERP system, matching business process with the ERP system, understanding the organizational requirements, and economic and strategic justification. In addition, this study also identifies new windows of opportunity as well as challenges facing companies today as enterprise systems continue to evolve and expand.

Abstract:Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems have been implemented globally and their implementation has been extensively studied during the past decade. However, many organizations are still struggling to derive benefits from the implemented ERP systems. Therefore, ensuring post-implementation success has become the focus of the current ERP research. This study develops an integrative model to explain the post-implementation success of ERP, based on the Technology-Organization-Environment (TOE) theory. We posit that ERP implementation quality (the technological aspect) consisting of project management and system configuration, organizational readiness (the organizational aspect) consisting of leadership involvement and organizational fit, and external support (the environmental aspect) will positively affect the post-implementation success of ERP. An empirical test was conducted in the Chinese retail industry. The results show that both ERP implementation quality and organizational readiness significantly affect post-implementation success, whereas external support does not. The theoretical and practical implications of the findings are discussed.

Abstract:Enterprise Resources Planning has become one of the business and management applications that are believed to be able to improve the performance of companies and or organizations to be more efficient and effective. However, based on much research, the success rate of ERP implementation is questionable. Although the success of ERP implementation is often published in research, the failure rate of ERP system implementation is relatively high. Therefore, this study is to find out the problems and challenges faced by organizations in implementing ERP, by reviewing the existing literature on research on factors that influence the success of ERP implementation. The approach taken is to review several related research articles published in the 2015-2020 period from several publishers, namely Emerald Online, Science Direct, IEEE, and SAGE. The sample size for the last 5 years is expected to show the up-datedness of the data taken from the research article. New ideas that will emerge from this discussion are the main factors causing the success of ERP implementation for organization, so that they can be used to reduce the failure rate of ERP implementation in the future by proposing an ERP implementation model.

Abstract:A new selection method for ERP of manufacturing enterprise was developed. Firstly, an evaluation model of ERP selection process was established, and an evaluation system for ERP selection was constructed by using balanced score card (BSC). According to benchmarking principle, the referred series was obtained for ERP selection. All the relative weights were calculated based on the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) technique. Then, the priority scheduling of ERP software was realized via the grey relational theory. Finally, a practice example analysis was carried on. The results show that the method is comprehensive, practical and operational for ERP selection.

Abstract:The paper researches the impact of ERP adoption on operating and profit-making capability of Chinese manufacturing firms.This research has found that ERP systems can help Chinese manufacturing firms enhance cash management and improve efficiency of labor.However,there is no significant improvement associated with the ratio of Stock Turnover following the implementation of ERP systems.Further,the research has found that ratio of ROS has significant decrease after ERP adoption.

Abstract:A quantitative technique for evaluating the implementation capacity of enterprise resource planning(ERP) was developed to improve the efficiency and success rate of ERP implementation of manufacturing enterprises.A stepped ERP implementation model was presented and an implementation capacity evaluation architecture was designed by using balanced scorecard(BSC).Then analytic hierarchy processes(AHP)-comprehensive fuzzy evaluation theory was used to quantitatively calculate the ERP implementation capacity,and the relationship between the calculation result and the phase of the stepped implementation model was also established.According to the evaluated implementation capacity,the critical success factors were found out and the corresponding effective measures were provided for guiding the ERP implementation processes.Finally,the proposed technique was illustrated by a case study of ERP implementation process in an enterprise.

ERP implementation is extremely advantageous but maintaining individuals’ benefits are extremely hard for most organisations at after implementation phase. However, an unsuccessful implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP) can frequently curse financial disaster. The purpose of this information is to review on crucial success factors (CSF) and risks (RF) of ERP system implementation and supply a general clarification of complexities such implementation. By analysing crucial success factor and risks pointed out in literature, CSF and RFs are mapped to project complexities concerned in almost any ERP implementation. This article shows that for a number of industries frequently challenges were centred on top management support, change management techniques, effective communications, and ERP systems user training but missing internal expertise, and conflicts along with other priorities were even the critical factors which performed a huge role in ERP implementation.

Abstract:The body of research relating to the implementation of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems in small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) has been increasing rapidly over the last few years. It is important, particularly for SMEs, to recognize the elements for a successful ERP implementation in their environments. This research aims to examine the critical elements that constitute a successful ERP implementation in SMEs. The objective is to identify the constituents within the critical elements. A comprehensive literature review and interviews with eight SMEs in the UK were carried out. The results serve as the basic input into the formation of the critical elements and their constituents. Three main critical elements are formed: critical success factors, critical people and critical uncertainties. Within each critical element, the related constituents are identified. Using the process theory approach, the constituents within each critical element are linked to their specific phase(s) of ERP implementation. Ten constituents for critical success factors were found, nine constituents for critical people and 21 constituents for critical uncertainties. The research suggests that a successful ERP implementation often requires the identification and management of the critical elements and their constituents at each phase of implementation. The results are constructed as a reference framework that aims to provide researchers and practitioners with indicators and guidelines to improve the success rate of ERP implementation in SMEs.

Abstract:The paper has researched the impact of ERP adoption on operational capability and profit-making capability of Chinese firms. This research has found that ERP systems can help Chinese firms enhance cash management resulting from increasing two ratios of Accounts Receivable Turnover and Current Assets Turnover. The ratio of number of employees to sales has also decreased because ERP systems can improve work efficiency. However, because ERP systems implemented in Chinese firms lacking functions of production management and supply chain management, there is no significant improvement associated with the ratio of Stock Turnover following the implementation of ERP systems. Further, the research has found that ratios of ROS and OIS have significant decrease in the first year after ERP adoption (but become better in the second year).

Abstract:Significant growth in the Chinese retail industry has boosted utilization of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems among Chinese retailers. However, due to the weak information infrastructure of organizations and the inherent complexity of ERP systems, many Chinese retailers have encountered difficulties in achieving the benefits at the post-implementation stage of the ERP deployment. The post-implementation success of the ERP is under researched, though. Therefore, based on the Technology-Organization-Environment (TOE) theory, we develop an integrated model of the post-implementation success of ERP, and empirically test it in the Chinese retail industry. The results show that implementation quality and organizational readiness positively affect the post-implementation success of the ERP, while external support does not exert significant impacts. The research and practical implications of the findings are discussed.

Abstract:Why or how ERP implementation would influence firm performance? The existing literature and practice did not address this issue clearly, but more focused on how to successfully implement ERP systems or what the impediments of ERP implementation were. We pointed out that a systematic framework was needed in order to understand the impact of ERP system on firm performance. In this paper, we developed a conceptual framework with the aim to open the black box of the relation between ERP implementation and firm performance based on strategic competition theory. Our paper contributed to the ERP literature by enriching our knowledge of the underlying mechanism through which ERP implementation took effect on corporate performance.

Abstract:Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems have been adopted by many organizations in the past decade. These systems have revolutionized organizational computing by facilitating integrated and real-time planning, production, and customer response. While some companies have achieved significant efficiencies through ERP, others have complained of failed implementations, budget overruns, and disappointing performance. This paper draws upon Diffusion of Innovation (DOI) theory and Information Systems Success (IS) theory to develop and test a model of ERP implementation success. Results reveal that top management support and training are positively related to user satisfaction, while perceived complexity of ERP and competitive pressure show a negative relationship. Consensus in organizational objectives and competitive pressure are positively associated with perceived organizational performance. Post hoc analysis identifies user satisfaction as a moderator between certain DOI characteristics and organizational performance. This leads to the proposal of a new model of ERP implementation for future research.
