Abstract:The title compound, C15H12ClNO5, was synthesized by the reaction of ethyl 4-hydroxybenzoate and 1,2-dichloro-4-nitrobenzene in the presence of potassium hydroxide. In the V-shaped molecule, the dihedral angle between the two benzene rings is 72.90 (5)°.

The molecule displays a nearly planar structure. The overlapped arrangement of nearly parallel benzene rings of neighboring molecules and centroid-centroid distance of 3.5642 (16) Angstrom suggest pi,pi stacking. Adjacent molecules are linked to each other via N-H...O hydrogen bonds to form a helical supramolecular structure.

Abstract:Crystals of the title compound, C15H13ClN4O6, were obtained from a condensation reaction of 2-chloro-3,4-dimethoxybenzaldehyde and 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine. Within the dinitrophenyl group, the distances of 1.413 (3) and 1.405 (3) Angstrom for the C-C bonds close to the imino group are appreciably longer than the average distance of 1.372 (4) Angstrom for other aromatic C-C bonds in the same benzene ring. The benzene rings in the molecule are nearly coplanar, and the overlapped arrangement of benzene rings of neighboring molecules shows the existence of a pi-pi stacking interaction.

Abstract:Crystals of the title compound, C20H15N3O3, were obtained from a condensation reaction of benzil and 4-nitrophenylhydrazine. The phenylhydrazone moiety assumes a planar configuration, and the nitro group and phenyl rings of benzil are inclined to this plane. The overlapped arrangement and the small separation of 3.402 (14) Angstrom between parallel nitrophenyl rings of neighboring molecules suggest the existence of pi-pi stacking.

Abstract:The title compound, C(7)H(3)Cl(2)NO(4), was prepared by the reaction of 2,4-dichloro-6-nitro-toluene with 20% HNO(3) solution at 430 K. The carboxyl and nitro groups are twisted by 82.82 (12) and 11.9 (2)°, respectively, with respect to the benzene ring. The crystal structure is stabilized by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding between carboxyl groups and weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding between the nitro group and the benzene ring of an adjacent mol-ecule.

The two benzene rings of the title molecule have a dihedral angle of 16.17 (6)degrees. Abstract:Crystals of the title compound, C(13)H(10)N(4)O(4), were obtained from a condensation reaction of benzaldehyde and 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine. The molecule assumes an approximately planar E configuration. Within the dinitrophenyl moiety, the average distance for the aromatic C-C bonds close to the imino group [1.417 (3) A] is appreciably longer than the average distance for the other aromatic C-C bonds in the same phenyl ring [1.373 (3) A]. This increased distance may be a result of the overlap of the non-bonding orbital of the imino N atom with the pi orbitals of the arene. It is likely that pi-pi stacking exists in the crystal structure.

Abstract:The title molecule, C22H16ClNO5, was obtained by the reaction of (E)-ethyl 3-(3-chlorophenyl)-2-cyanoacrylate and 2-hydroxynaphthalene-1,4-dione catalysed by triethylamine in ethanol. Abstract:In the title molecule, C18H11Cl3N2O2, the central benzene ring is oriented at 8.44 (12) and 70.57 (11)degrees with respect to the terminal chlorophenol and dichloropyridine rings, respectively. The molecular structure is stabilized by an intramolecular O-H center dot center dot center dot N hydrogen bond, which generates an S(6) ring motif. In the crystal, pi-pi stacking between parallel pyridine rings is observed [centroid-centroid distance = 3.6561 (14) angstrom].
