Abstract:For a negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistor, the thermistor characteristic equation should be fitting by Least Square Method (LSM). According to the characters of LSM, more measurement points can improve the precision of the thermistor characteristic equation, but those also increase the measurement cycle. As for our sensors, a temperature point will cost more than 9 hours at around 20K and 8 hours at around 100K. To decrease the sampling data quantity, in this paper, the optimal current of the NTC thermistors is discussed to reduce the system deviation (Class B Uncertainty) caused by self-heating. After optimizing the side effect and combining with the early work (a new calibration equations), the accuracy will be increased. In this way, the measurement temperature points can be reduced and the error, though it will increase, can still satisfy the demand that the deviation is below 1mK at around 20K in most cases. Finally, to balance the precision and the time overhead, the optimal number of measurement temperature points is 28 and it can save 21% of the time in a measurement cycle, at least.
