Peace Versus Violence——On the Duality in the Means of Protest for Anti-globalization Movement

Abstract:Being two general means for protest in social movements,the co-presence of peace and violence becomes a basic feature of anti-globalization movement.While peaceful means always dominates the Movement,the graduate spread of violence leads to more and more anxieties and concern.Peaceful or violent,which is a better means? This issue has brought about debates in all sides of society.In summary,as being decided by the nature of anti-globalization movement,violence may take effect but only within a limited scope and for a short period of time,and is destined to be harmful to the Movement in the long run.Peaceful means,in contrast,will help to promote the anti-globalization movement in a more pertinent and efficient way.
