Abstract:Plenty of achievements have been made in library science in 2006.it appears that good phenomena are emerging gradually,such as deepening theory study,facing practice and multidimensional development.The methodology issue has been paid much attention.The main issues are about library transforming management,knowledge-based library science theory,knowledge organization and communication study,the argument on information rights,the debate on knowledge service,long-term preservation of digital resources,study on information sharing & library coalitions and the hitting up of reading therapy.Furthermore,both the new doctor/master spots and the building on the national excellent courses magnified the effect of LIS education.

Abstract:Advances in many aspects of library science scholarly research had been witnessed in China in year 2008.Based on literature survey,10 notable aspects could be identified as follows: collection development policy of digital resources and evaluation,open access and institutional repository,digitization of antiquarian Chinese books,knowledge organization theories,digital library standards and cooperation,Lib2.0 and personalized services,total quality management and performance measurement,intellectual property issues relating to digital library resources,the Land-Using Indicators for Public Library Construction and Standards of Public Library Construction,review and reflection of library development in the reform and opening-up era for the past 30 years.

Abstract:This paper points out the core contents of Library and Information Science(LIS) in terms of the history,current status and comparison to other disciplines based on literature review and comparative study.Knowledge discovery,evaluation,organization and use are the core contents in the perspective of document,information and knowledge,meanwhile secondary literature,tertiary literature compilation of reviews are the focuses in terms of information organization,while knowledge content and effect analysis,evaluation and utilization are hot topics of LIS in terms of knowledge content and effect.Based on the definitude of core context,the solutions were proposed to advance core curriculum,talent cultivation and development of discipline and librarianship.8 refs.

Abstract:The library in the institutions of higher learning is the special stack room to collect literature of its own.It is of great significance to show the result of running school,to keep up complete data and to form a characteristic collection.By taking University of Zhejiang Science and Technology(ZUST)as an example,we analyze the existing problems in the library construction of the newly-built institutions of higher learning and define the scope of the library collection.Thus several methods are advanced to strengthen both its direction and initiative to turn the data base resources into the school's special collection resources as well as to grasp the timing node to collect library materials.

Abstract:The tenth cross-straits conference on Library and Information science was held successfully at Nanjing University in July 5-6,2010.The conference essays can be classified into five topics: research on the history of Library and Information Science education,research on Library and Information Science education,theoretical study on Library and Information Science,practical study on Library and Information Science,the application of bibliometrics,new technologies and new methods in Library and Information Science.From analyzing the main contents of the conference essays,the result shows five features: research innovation,research for use,based on academic standards,empirical research became the mainstream,papers supported by fund accounted for a considerable proportion.
