Abstract:The library in the institutions of higher learning is the special stack room to collect literature of its own.It is of great significance to show the result of running school,to keep up complete data and to form a characteristic collection.By taking University of Zhejiang Science and Technology(ZUST)as an example,we analyze the existing problems in the library construction of the newly-built institutions of higher learning and define the scope of the library collection.Thus several methods are advanced to strengthen both its direction and initiative to turn the data base resources into the school's special collection resources as well as to grasp the timing node to collect library materials.

Abstract:Plenty of achievements have been made in library science in 2006.it appears that good phenomena are emerging gradually,such as deepening theory study,facing practice and multidimensional development.The methodology issue has been paid much attention.The main issues are about library transforming management,knowledge-based library science theory,knowledge organization and communication study,the argument on information rights,the debate on knowledge service,long-term preservation of digital resources,study on information sharing & library coalitions and the hitting up of reading therapy.Furthermore,both the new doctor/master spots and the building on the national excellent courses magnified the effect of LIS education.

Abstract:Purpose The research in this paper aims to investigate the development of Library and Information Science in Chinese universities. Specifically, it focuses on understanding the spatial and temporal aspects of subject knowledge output and providing a more comprehensive explanation of the imbalance in subject research. Design/methodology/approach This study applies the bibliometric method to analyze 131,112 papers published by 51 universities in mainland China from 1977 to 2021, as recorded in the Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI). The study classifies the evolution trends of the discipline and quantifies the published article data of the universities using the index of published articles. Additionally, it examines the development status, structural situation, influencing factors and prospects of universities in different categories and regions. Findings The field of Library and Information Science is gaining momentum in Chinese universities, but there are significant differences in its development. While the relative gap among universities in a regional context is diminishing, the absolute gap in the category perspective is increasing. The development of Library and Information Science is influenced by various factors, including the academic environment, geographical position, scientific research projects and academic traditions. The uneven development of the discipline is maintained in the short term. Originality/value This paper proposes a new quantitative index of discipline development, the university publication index. This index allows for an examination of the temporal and spatial trends of discipline development using domestic universities as the subject of research. The paper presents an overview of discipline development through four aspects: academic participation practice, discipline governance mechanisms, education and teaching systems and discourse construction within the discipline. The theoretical support provided by this study can help facilitate innovative development in the discipline.

Abstract:The history of library science education in Nanjing University could be traced back 1922, from 1922 to 2022, Nanjing University’s library science education has gone through a hundred years. This article summarized its spirits through reviewing the centennial history of Nanjing University’s library science education. It mainly used the historical research method to analyze the Chinese and English archives on this topic. The spirits of Nanjing University’s library science education could be summarized to 5 points: insisting on the humanism as well as technology are both important; encouraging the interdisciplinary; combing the research, teaching and service together; combing the theory and practice together; and focusing on China as well as being with the global view.

Abstract:The Chinese library science education has already gone through nine decades.It has experienced three development stages.1920 to 1949 was the beginning and the first prosperity stage;1950 to 1977 was the second prosperity and decline stage;1978 to 2008 was the third prosperity,decline and revival stage.Based on the analysis of the formation and features of library science,this paper fully reviews and analyzes the history of library science education in China.The author thinks that in the future,library science education should pay attention to "knowledge",redefine its various levels,and inherit the predecessors' idea of constructing China's own library science,so that the Chinese library science education can have Chinese features.

Abstract:In the early days Department of Sociology,Yanjing University,was mainly staffed with American teachers and the objectives of training,programs of courses and textbooks were thickly characteristic of the West.And a teaching faculty with Chinese teachers as the mainstay had not taken shape till some 1926.These Chinese teachers worked hard to develop Chinese theory of sociology,train Chinese sociological workers and serve development of Chinese society.They made great contributions to the Chinesization of sociology and valuable experience to the construction of college disciplines.

Abstract:Library and information science education in China is in a period of transition. The changes in the social, economic and technological environment have introduced new requirements for the professional personnel. The growth of the information industry and the expansion of the labor market have motivated schools of library and information science to adjust their objectives, curriculum and knowledge structure in order to meet social needs. This article discusses the changing social environment in the 1990s and the challenges to professional education, and responses from schools. Based on the curriculum of 17 schools of library and information science in China provided at the Second Joint Annual Meeting of Deans held in 1995, the author provides data on required courses, specialized elective courses and non-specialized courses according to the frequency of each course appearing in the curriculum. The objectives are to determine the state-of-the-art structure of the knowledge base and to identify any consensus among teaching institutions. The difficulties and problems in educational reform are discussed and some trends in professional education in China are predicted.

Abstract:Abstract: Since the Chinese Rare Book Preservation Plan started in 2007, education and training in preservation and conservation of library and archival collections have been of increasing concern. Many forms of integrated development have been implemented, including school The concept of school in this article includes (1) colleges, (2) universities, and (3) technical secondary schools. education, apprenticeships, and professional training. The number of training institutions has doubled, and the level of training has been raised. Some comprehensive universities In China, a comprehensive university is one that offers a broad range of courses, instead of specializing (as is the case, for example, with medical or technical universities). began to participate in this provision of education and training, and Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) was a typical example. At SYSU, the introduction occurred in three stages: leading edge (2001–2003); beginning (2004–2008); and comprehensive development (2009–). Following these stages, SYSU launched a full range of programs offering education and training in preservation and conservation, and has formed the SYSU Model, which relies on the first-level discipline, Science of Library, Information and Archive Management. China's Ministry of Education stipulates that in the establishment of the graduate education system of colleges and universities, the first-level discipline is the major discipline and the second-level discipline is a subclass of it. In total, there are 110 first-level disciplines. The science of Library, Information and Archive Management is one of them. In the process, it has also developed unique characteristics, such as effective integration of Chinese and Western theories; attaching equal importance to preservation and conservation; and an effective combination of theory and practice.

Abstract:The original responsibilities of university library mainly focus on cultivating creative talents, scientific and technological innovation and knowledge discovery. The rapid development of new media application has brought unprecedented challenges to the traditional library information literacy education. Taking the library of Tianjin University as a case, this paper introduced the exploration and practice of subject service.
