Abstract:Consider the following difference equation: x(n + 1 ) - x(n) = F(n,xm),n ∈Z+,where F:Z+ X Cd(M)→ R, Cd(M) = {=Z-→ R ] max (m)≤M}. We obtain sufficientconditions for the uniform stability and uniformly asymptotic stability of the zero solution ofthe above equation.

Abstract:Stability of functional differential equations (FDE) is an increasingly important problem in both science and engineering. Delays, whether uniform or non-uniform, play an important role in the dynamics of a system. Since non-uniform delay is more general and less focused than uniform delay, this paper concentrates on the stability of high-order neutral functional differential equations (HNFDE) with non-uniform delay, and proposes a sufficient condition for it. This result may be widely helpful, thanks to the frequent emergence of a HNFDE with non-uniform delay in various fields. Its effectiveness is illustrated by some examples.

Abstract:The exponential stability of impulsive delay difference equations is considered.Employing the Lyapunov function,Some conditions are obtained which guarantee the exponential stability of impulsive delay difference equations,that is the stability criteria for the impulsive delay difference equations.For linear impulsive delay difference equations,a concrete Lyapunov function is given.Then,by utilizing the foregoing result,a stability criterion for linear impulsive delay difference equations is offered.Finally,two numerical experiments illustrate the correctness of the results.

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to study a class of differential–difference equations with two delays. First, we investigate the local stability of the zero solution of the equation by analyzing the corresponding characteristic equation of the linearized equation. General stability criteria involving the delays and the parameters are obtained. Second, by choosing one of the delays as a bifurcation parameter, we show that the equation exhibits the Hopf bifurcation. The stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions are determined by using the center manifold theorem and the normal form theory. Finally, as an example, we analyze a simple motor control equation with two delays. Our results improve some of the existing results on this equation.

Abstract:This note studies the stability problem of nonlinear positive differential-difference equations with unbounded time-varying delays. Under assumptions on the nonlinear vector fields, such as being homogeneous, cooperative, and order-preserving, conditions are derived for positivity and asymptotic stability of nonlinear differential-difference equations, which include the corresponding linear system as a special case. This work features three main contributions: First, a necessary and sufficient positivity condition is proposed for nonlinear differential-difference equations with delays. Then, utilizing the concept of homogeneity, a necessary and sufficient condition is provided for the global asymptotic stability of such positive nonlinear systems with unbounded delays. Finally, we analyze the global $\mu$ -stability of the systems with unbounded time-varying delays to estimate the convergence rates of the system dynamics. The effectiveness of the obtained theoretical results is illustrated by numerical examples, including an analysis of nonlinear epidemic-spreading processes.

Abstract:This paper deals with the stability of linear periodic difference delay systems, where the value at time $t$ of a solution is a linear combination with periodic coefficients of its values at finitely many delayed instants $t-\tau_1,\ldots,t-\tau_N$. We establish a necessary and sufficient condition for exponential stability of such systems when the coefficients have Hölder-continuous derivative, that generalizes the one obtained for difference delay systems with constant coefficients by Henry and Hale in the 1970s. This condition may be construed as analyticity, in a half plane, of the (operator valued) harmonic transfer function of an associated linear control system.

Abstract:This note studies strong stability of the linear difference equation x(t)=Ax(t−a)+Bx(t−b) where a>0,b>0 are constants and A,B are n×n square matrices. A necessary and sufficient condition in terms of a linear matrix inequality (LMI), where the coefficients A,B appear as a linear function, is introduced. Such a condition is further used to deal with the robust strong stability problem with norm bounded uncertainty, whose solutions are expressed by LMIs. A time-domain interpretation of the LMI condition in terms of integral Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional is given, which helps to reveal the relationships among the existing methods. A numerical example demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed method.
