Abstract:In this paper, a new finite-time stability (FTS) concept, which is defined as admissible finite-time stability (AFTS), is introduced into a class of discrete-time singular systems with time-varying delays. The problems of AFTS analysis and synthesis are addressed. A sufficient condition for the AFTS of the unforced discrete-time singular time-delay system is proposed. Based on the AFTS analysis result, a state feedback controller is designed such that the resulting closed-loop system is admissibly finite-time stable. Both the AFTS and the controller design conditions are provided in terms of a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) with some fixed parameters. Two numerical examples are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the developed theory.

Abstract:This study addresses the problems of finite-time (FT) stability and stabilisation for distributed parameter systems. First, the authors extend the concepts of FT stability and FT stabilisation to the distributed parameter systems. Then, sufficient conditions of the L 2-FT stability and W 1,2-FT stability for the distributed parameter systems are established in terms of linear matrix inequalities. Based on these sufficient conditions, the authors design the state feedback controllers which guarantee the closed-loop distributed parameter systems to be L 2-FT stable and W 1,2-FT stable, respectively. Finally, numerical examples are given to illustrate the proposed results.

Abstract:The asymptotic stability and the switching strate gy are studied in this paper for discrete switched systems with time delay subsys tems. Based on Lyapunov stability theory, two different sufficient conditions ar e derived via LMI approach for the asymptotic stability under arbitrary switchin g. Furthermore, this paper develops the convex combination conditions for asympt otic stability of such systems and gives the way to choose switching strategy. T he simulation result proves the validity of the designed switching strategy.

Abstract:This article considers the problem of delay-dependent stability analysis for a class of discrete-time singular systems with Markovian jump and time-varying delay. The transition probabilities in Markov chain are assumed to be partially unknown. In terms of linear matrix inequality approach, the delay-dependent criteria are proposed to ensure the underlying system to be regular, causal and stochastically stable. Several numerical examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness and less conservatism of the obtained results.

In terms of linear matrix inequality (LMD techniques, sufficient and necessary conditions for quadratic D-stability and quadratic D-stabilization of uncertain systems are derived and the method of designing corresponding state-feedback controller is presented. Finally, a numerical example is provided to demonstrate the validity of the obtained result.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the problem of delay-dependent robust stability for uncertain discrete singular systems with time-varying delays. Without introducing the free-weighting matrices to deal with the cross terms, a new and improved delay-dependent condition is established for the nominal systems to be regular, causal, and stable via a new Lyapunov function employing the integrated lower and upper time-delay bounds. The condition is also extended to the uncertain case. A numerical example is given to illustrate that the proposed methods are effective and lead to less conservatism than the existing ones.

Abstract:The problems of admissible finite-time stability (AFTS) and admissible finite-time stabilization for a class of uncertain discrete singular systems are addressed in this study. The definition of AFTS is first given. Second, a sufficient condition for the AFTS of the nominal unforced system is established, which is further extended to the uncertain case. Then, a sufficient condition is proposed for the design of a state feedback controller such that the closed-loop system is admissibly finite-time stable for all admissible uncertainties. Both the AFTS and the controller design conditions are presented in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) with a fixed parameter. Finally, two numerical examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the developed theory.

Abstract:This paper studies the finite-time stability problem for a class of singular neutral systems by using the Lyapunov-Krasovskii function approach and regular neutral system theory. The considered systems involve not only the delayed version of the state, but also the delayed version of the derivative of the state. Some sufficient conditions are presented to ensure that the considered systems are regular, impulse-free, and finite-time stable. Three numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

Abstract:In this paper nonlinear boundary value problems for discontinuous delayed differential equations are considered. Some existence and boundedness results of solutions are obtained via the method of upper and lower solutions, which may be discontinuous. Our analysis can be applied to those phenomena from physics and control theory which have been successfully described by delayed differential equations with discontinuous functions, such as electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic networks. It is also an important step to precede the design of control signals when finite-time or practical stability control are concerned.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with problems of stability of discrete-time systems with infinite delays. Several new theorems for stability analysis of the concerned delayed systems are developed. Specifically, uniform stability, uniform asymptotic stability, global uniform asymptotic stability, exponential stability and global exponential stability are included. Our results include some existing works on bounded delays as special cases. Furthermore, an example is furnished to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed theorems.

Abstract:This paper deals with the class of linear stochastic discrete-time systems with varying time-delay. The problems of stability and stabilizability for this class of systems are considered. Given an upper and a lower bounds on the time-varying delay sufficient conditions for checking the stability of this class of systems are developed. A control design algorithm is also provided. All the results developed in this paper are in the LMI formalism which makes their solvability easier using the existing tools. Abstract:In this note, we propose two new sufficient conditions on finite time stability for nonlinear time delay systems. First, a sufficient condition is proposed to verify the stability of systems by employing a continuously differentiable Lyapunov‐Krasovskii functional with indefinite derivative. Second, another sufficient condition is proposed by extending the Razumikhin approach, moreover, the corresponding estimate on convergence time of systems is also given. The results obtained herein are less conservative than the existing methods, i.e., they relax the restriction that the Lyapunov function of systems has to be decreasing in the convergence process. Finally, two numerical examples are provided to show the effectiveness of the theoretical results.

Abstract:This note is focused on the stability analysis for a class of switched nonlinear systems with disturbance input and delay. Sufficient conditions in terms of linear inequalities are presented such that the switched system is asymptotically stable for arbitrary switching, any admissible sector nonlinearities and disturbances, and any constant delay. We not only drop a condition of one result given in Aleksandrov, Chen, Platonov, and Zhang (2011), but also extend the main result to a more general switched nonlinear system with disturbance input and delay.

Abstract:Recently, finite-time and fixed-time stability has been a hot topic in the study of dynamical systems. In this paper, we will provide an insightful view on this issue and explore the intrinsic property by mathematical analysis. Several theorems and corollaries show how to find the settling time. Moreover, we apply the corresponding theory on the finite-time and fixed-time synchronization problem of nonlinearly coupled systems and a numerical simulation is also given to demonstrate its efficiency.

Abstract:This paper considers the finite time stability of stochastic hybrid systems, which has both Markovian switching and impulsive effect. First, the concept of finite time stability is extended to stochastic hybrid systems. Then, by using common Lyapunov function and multiple Lyapunov functions theory, two sufficient conditions for finite time stability of stochastic hybrid systems are presented. Furthermore, a new notion called stochastic minimum dwell time is proposed and then, combining it with the method of multiple Lyapunov functions, a sufficient condition for finite time stability of stochastic hybrid systems is given. Finally, a numerical example is provided to illustrate the theoretical results.
