Abstract:The carbonation models and test methods for concrete are reviewed,and their principles, application scopes, merits and shortcomings are analyzed. Because of the limitations of traditional research methods, it is difficalt to liking the lab results with the insitu test results. A new methad, which take the deterioration indicator of concrete as the main factor, build up the new concept for research the durability of concrete, i. e. the gas diffusion coefficient, pH value and the content of alkali substances can reflect the degree of carbonation and the deterioration trend of coveral concrete. Meanwhile, a new non-destructive test methods will set up a bridge between the lab and the in-situ research. Therefor, based on test rezults of the permeability and the alkali coutent of coveral concrete, and using of a suitable carbontion model, a relationship between the deleriaration degree of concrete properties and the parameters of concrete, such as permeability ,alkali content, etc. will be built up. And that will make the evaluation of concrete durability more objective.

Abstract:The uniform and localized corrosion mechanisms of carbon steels in CO\-2 environment were summarized, and the influence factors of CO\-2 corrosion were analyzed. CO\-2 corrosion protection technologies were introduced, emphasized on the development of inhibitors. Some suggestions were proposed for future study of CO\-2 corrosion and its corrosion inhibitors.

Abstract:This article elaborates the technology of CO_2 corrosion protection in oil and gas production process.The technology of CO_2 corrosion protection mainly includes:anti-CO_2 corrosion material technology,material surface treatment technology,cathodic protection technology and corrosion inhibitor technology.In view of the present insufficiency in CO_2 corrosion protection,the following measures are proposed,such as strengthening research on mechanism of CO_2 corrosion,thoroughly exploring the affecting factors of CO_2 corrosion and impact rules and improving room simulation unit to optimize protective measures for CO_2 corrosion.

Abstract:An advanced model is developed to elucidate relationship between availability of oxygen and active corrosion, considering the equilibrium between gaseous and dissolved oxygen, as well as the equilibrium of oxygen diffusion and consumption. This research notably incorporates self-regulation mechanisms of cathodes and anodes in both macrocell and microcell corrosion. Accelerated corrosion experiments were performed under simulated marine environment, monitoring variations in corrosive medium concentration and electrochemical corrosion processes. Results indicate significant reduction in oxygen concentration following the activation of rebar. Potential inaccuracies in predicting corrosion rate arise from the adoption of a static cathodic to anodic area ratio was highlighted.

Abstract:There are several corrosive gases in most oil and gas fields,such as CO2 and H2S.The corrosions of CO2 and H2S are the main corrosion in gathering,delivering and disposing.The corrosive mechanism and influencing factors of CO2 and H2S corrosions are described,based on which several anti-corrosion measures are introduced,such as the technology of coating,inhibitors,adsorption,sacrificial anode.It is also pointed out that many new measures will be invented and applied in protecting corrosions of CO2 and H2S in the oil and gas fields.

Abstract:CO 2 geological utilization and storage (CGUS) is a key technology to achieve carbon neutrality goals. To apply CGUS on a larger scale, the issue of steel corrosion during the process must be addressed to mitigate technological risks. This paper provides an overview of CO 2 -induced steel corrosion mechanisms and identifies factors that influence corrosion. The impact of CO 2 partial pressure, temperature, salinity, pH, impurities, and fluid flow on steel corrosion behavior are also discussed. With the presence of water, the corrosive effect of supercritical CO 2 on steel is stronger than that of dissolved CO 2 or gaseous CO 2 . As the temperature increases, the corrosion rate of steel first increases and then decreases. Increasing salinity and decreasing pH lead to an accelerated corrosion rate of steel. Corrosion inhibitors, coatings, and corrosion-resistant alloys are recommended protective measures against CO 2 -induced corrosion. Compared with coatings, corrosion inhibitors and corrosion-resistant alloys are more commonly used in CGUS projects. Future research directions include further exploration of the mechanisms underlying CO 2 -induced steel corrosion, clarifying the coupled effects of various environmental factors, and developing corrosion protection technologies under high-pressure and high-concentration CO 2 conditions.

Abstract:Abstract Carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) corrosion at low partial pressure has been widely recognized, but research on supercritical CO 2 (SC CO 2 ) corrosion is very limited. By far, investigations on steel corrosion under SC CO 2 conditions have mainly focused on the corrosion rate, structure, morphology, and composition of the corrosion scales as well as the electrochemical behaviors. It was found in aqueous SC CO 2 environment, that the corrosion rate of carbon steel was very high, and even stainless steels (13Cr and high-alloy CrNi steels) were subjected to some corrosion. Inhibitor could reduce the corrosion rate of carbon steels and stainless steels, but none of the tested inhibitors could reduce the corrosion rate of carbon steel to an acceptable value. Impurities such as O 2 , SO 2 , and NO 2 and their mixtures in SC CO 2 increased the corrosion rate of carbon steel. However, the existing studies so far were very limited on the corrosion mechanism of steels in SC CO 2 conditions. Thus, this paper first reviews the finding on the corrosion behaviors of steels under SC CO 2 conditions, points out the shortcomings in the present investigations and finally looks forward to the research prospects on SC CO 2 corrosion.

Abstract:The pipes in the gas fields are mainly oil tubing,casing and drill rod etc.With the development of oil and gas fields,the oil & gas production is facing increasingly adverse conditions,especially the deteriorating tubing corrosion,wax deposition and fouling in the oil well tubing due to the higher carbon dioxide,hydrogen sulfide and elemental sulfur etc in oil & gas fields.The corrosion of oil well pipes is discussed,the main corrosion causes of pipes are analyzed and the associated anti-corrosion technologies are studied.The advantages and disadvantages of different technologies are compared.The trend of future anticorrosion technology development is forecasted.

Abstract:Carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technology is widely recognized as a key solution for mitigating global climate change. Consequently, it has received significant attention from countries worldwide. However, carbon dioxide corrosion poses a significant challenge to CCUS and represents a bottleneck to the large-scale development and application of this technology. To mitigate this issue, this review starts with a discussion of corrosion problems in CCUS. Later, the fundamentals of the carbon dioxide corrosion mechanism are introduced. Then, the influences of various factors that affect the corrosion are highlighted, such as water content, pH, flow rate, etc. Afterward, we summarize the commonly used methods for corrosion protection, with a particular focus on inhibitor, given their eco-friendly and effective nature. Lastly, challenges and prospects are discussed to motivate future studies on developing novel, high-performance green inhibitor and studying the corresponding protection mechanisms, hoping to make some contributions to carbon emission reduction.

Abstract:Under the increasing demand for safe operation and maintenance of supercritical CO 2 pipeline transportation projects, this paper summarizes the synergistic mechanism of process parameters such as pressure and temperature on pipeline corrosion in current CO 2 transportation pipelines. The critical phenomenon of water content affecting corrosion and the current research status of the intensification of CO 2 corrosion by impurities such as O 2 , SO 2 , NO 2 , and H 2 S on typical pipeline steel corrosion behavior are summarized, aiming to provide theoretical guidance for the risk analysis of pipeline steel corrosion in CCUS engineering in China. Finally, based on practical engineering requirements, it is suggested that in future research, more attention should be paid to the impact of supercritical CO 2 flow characteristics on pipeline corrosion risk.

Abstract:Carbon dioxide CO2could corrode the oil well cement paste matrix under agreeable moisture and pressure condition in deep oil wells, which could decrease the compressive strength and damage the annular seal reliability of cement paste matrix. The problem of oil well cement paste matrix corrosion by CO2was researched in the paper for obtain the feasible corrosion prevention technical measures. The microstructure and compressive strength of corroded cement paste matrix were examined by scanning electron microscopeSEMand strength test instrument etc. under different corrosion conditions. The mechanism and effect law of corrosion on oil well cement paste matrix by CO2were analyzed. And the suitable method to protect CO2corrosion in deep oil wells was explored. The results show that the corrosion mechanism of cement paste matrix by CO2was that the wetting phase CO2could generate chemical reaction with original hydration products produced from cement hydration, which CaCO3were developed and the original composition and microstructure of cement paste matrix were destroyed. The compressive strength of corrosion cement paste matrix always was lower than that of un-corrosion cement paste matrix. The compressive strength of corrosion cement paste matrix decreased with increase of curing temperature and differential pressure. The corroded degree of cement paste matrix was intimately related with the compositions of cement slurry. Developing and design anti-corrosive cement slurry should base on effectively improving the compact degree and original strength of cement paste matrix. The compounding additive R designed in the paper could effectively improve the anti-corrosive ability of cement slurry.

Abstract:The mechanism for development of littoral karst differs from that of inland karst, and the mixture corrosion effects are one of the most important factors that control the development of littoral karst. Through seven groups of static experiments carried out in a closed CO2‐H2O system, basic conclusions can be drawn as follows: (1) the basic law of corrosion process in a transitional zone of seawater‐freshwater in littoral karst areas is identical with that in the fresh water, i.e., the lithologic characteristics and rock structure are the main factors which control the development of littoral karst; (2) the mixture corrosion rate of the carbonate rock in the above transitional zone is faster than that in fresh water or seawater; (3) the mechanism for development of carbonate rocks differs at various pressures of CO2 in a transitional zone in littoral karst areas.

Abstract:In the majority of oil fields in our country,during the process of exploitation,the associated gas of oil wells usually contains CO2,H2S and other corrosive gases with different ingredients.At the same time,because the oil and gas gathering and transportation system cannot be completely sealed, O2 and other corrosive gases in the atmosphere can enter the oil and gas production system,resulting in a wide variety of corrosion concerning the oil and gas production systems.On account of the present corrosion situation about oil and gas pipelines,this paper is intended to give a brief overview of the CO2 corrosion,H2S corrosion,oxygen corrosion mechanism with their influential factors,and on this basis it further introduces a negative pole protection technology,a corrosion resistance materials anti-corrosion technology,an engineering anti-corrosion technology,a chemical anti-corrosion technology,as well as several commonly used anti-corrosion measures adopted at home and abroad.

Abstract:The effect of CO2 on seal capacity of cement mantle causes casing corrosion and reduces the life of oil well. The corrosion proof of cement system is studied to improve the integrity and seal properties of the cement stone under acidic medium. The CO2 corrosion test of 5 blocks cement under high temperature and high pressure was conducted. Compressive strength, permeability and corrosion depth were measured and morphology after corrosion was observed by scanning electron microscope. A density cement slurry formulations was selected by analyzing the experimental data. It not only has excellent corrosion resistance, but also has properties of anti-gas breakthrough, reduction of free water and stability. It can meet cementing requirement of different well depth conditions.

Abstract:In oilgas reservoir rocks, mineral dissolution and precipitation controlled by organic acids can influence the development of secondary pores in a great degree. It was found that organic acids can raise the dissolution rate of quartz and the solubility of feldspar, because the formed complexes not only reduce the activation energy of the reaction on mineral surface, but also reduce the concentrations of silica or aluminum ions in the solution. Through the action of adsorption or catalysis with clay minerals, organic acids can restrain the dissolution of other minerals like feldspar. With CO2, organic acids control the dissolution and precipitation of carbonate in the system.

Abstract:This study systematically reviews the progress of research on the corrosion inhibition effects of organic compounds on carbon steel since 2002, using the CiteSpace bibliometric tool. Through the analysis of 2,264 articles from the WOS (Web of Science) and Scopus databases, our team delved into aspects such as annual publication volume, authors, institutions, countries and keywords which helped identify the current research focus in this field. In particular, the protective efficacy of organic compounds on carbon steel in acidic environments has been highlighted. It is evident that the integration of coating technology, the development of organic compound derivatives and the extraction of green organic compounds have emerged as new research hotspots in this field. This study not only comprehensively evaluates the means and methods of assessing the corrosion inhibition performance of new organic compounds but also further specifies the main directions for future research in this field. These include composite organic coatings, targeted development of new organic compounds, development and application of green organic compounds from plants and corrosion inhibition mechanisms of organic compounds on other metal materials. This study not only provides a thorough and in-depth review of the history and current status of this field but, more importantly, clarifies specific directions for future research in this area. The aim of this research is to provide strong theoretical support and practical guidance for subsequent researchers, promoting future development of this field.

Corrosion Characteristics of Polymer-Modified Oil Well Cement-Based Composite Materials in Geological Environment Containing Carbon Dioxide

Abstract:Oil well cement is easily damaged by carbon dioxide (CO2) corrosion, and the corrosion of oil well cement is affected by many factors in complex environments. The anti-corrosion performance of oil well cement can be improved by polymer materials. In order to explore the influence of different corrosion factors on the corrosion depth of polymer-modified oil well cement, the influence of different corrosion factors on corrosion depth was studied based on the Box-Behnken experimental design. The interaction of different influencing factors and the influence of multiple corrosion depths were analyzed based on the response surface method, and a response surface model was obtained for each factor and corrosion depth. The results indicate that within the scope of the study, the corrosion depth of polymer-modified oil well cement was most affected by time. The effects of temperature and the pressure of CO2 decreased sequentially. The response surface model had good significance, with a determination coefficient of 0.9907. The corrosion depth was most affected by the interaction between corrosion time and the pressure of CO2, while the corrosion depth was less affected by the interaction between corrosion temperature and corrosion time. Improving the CO2 intrusion resistance of cement slurry in an environment with a high concentration of CO2 gas can effectively ensure the long-term structural integrity of cement.
