Abstract:In order to further enrich the vascular tissue thermo-physical parameters data, and in the meanwhile, for the purpose of reducing the thermal damage of the surgical device on its adjacent tissues during bipolar electrosurgical operation that heat is generated by the high-frequency current flow through vessel tissue.Based on the principle of the quasi-steady plate method, the experimental device with an electro-thermal membrane and NTC thermistors used as the heating element and temperature measuring element, respectively, was set up firstly;then in-vitro porcine thoracic aorta tissue was taken as investigated subject to study its thermal conductivity with tissue heating using electric heating film and temperature acquisition using thermistor;finally, the comparison of tissue thermal conductivity and biological tissue impedance versus temperature was conducted. The experimental results showed that the thermal conductivity of porcine thoracic aorta was 0.415 W/m-K at 26.5℃.Before the temperature increased to 63℃, the incresmental alteration of thermal conductivity was not obvious with the increasing of temperature;when the temperature was higher than 63℃ the thermal conductivity presented a decreased trend;when the temperature was higher than 79℃ and less than 90℃, tissue thermal conductivity declined rapidly with temperature increasing due to the decreasing of the water content in the tissue, and the thermal conductivity decreased to 0.201 W/m K nearby 90℃.It is found that the performance of the thermal conductivity versus temperature fits with the performance of the biological tissue impedance versus temperature. These results demonstrate it may exist relevance between tissue thermal conductivity and its impedance, which can provide an important reference for further exploring the mechanism of bio-heat transfer in the process of electrosurgical surgery.
