Sublingual Misoprostol in Combination with Mifepristone in Midtrimester Pregnancy Termination

Abstract:To explore the feasibility,security,efficacy of sublingual misoprostol in combination with mifepristone in midtrimester pregnancy termination.Randomised comparative trial was adopted.After each women with gestation in 16～24 weeks for induction of labor received 150 mg mifepristone,56 women were divided into 2 groups and followed to receive sublingual misoprostol 200 μg in sublingual group or to receive vaginal administration in vaginal group at the first time and repeated every 3 hours to a maximum of 1 000 μg. The primary outcome measure was the induction-to-delivery interval,the rate of delivery within 24 hours, the rate of complete delivery, adverse drug reaction.The mean induction-to-abortion interval was significantly shorter for the sublingual group.There was no obvious difference in the complete abortion rate and vaginal bleeding amount and the rate of delivery within 24 hours and adverse drug reactions of sublingual misoprostol between 2 groups.[Conclusion]Sublingual misoprostol in combination with mifepristone is a highly effective and feasible way of induction abortion in the midtrimester pregnancy.
