Abstract:Stability is a basic requirement of power system. The response of power system to a stochastic disturbance is also a stochastic process. At this point, stability conditions of the stochastic process are to be given by probability or statistics, and usually defined through the convergence of the norm of the dynamic response. Meanwhile, the convergence of the stochastic process can be defined in different senses, so can the stochastic stability. This chapter introduces several common definition modes (i.e., the mean stability, mean square stability, and asymptotic stability) to demonstrate associated theorems.

Abstract:This paper provides an overview of recent advances of theory on stochastic stabilization and destabilization.The paper reviews a general theory on stochastic stabilization and destabilization of continuous-time systems and then illustrates the developments of theory on stabilization by noise with the applications and generalizations of this theory from four aspects.Moreover,this paper reviews some recent development of stochastic stabilization for discrete-time systems.

Abstract:Dear editor, It is well-known that the stability should first be considered in system analysis and synthesis.Since Lyapunov first initiated his stability theory regarding ordinary differential equations (ODEs)in 1892,Lyapunov's stability theory has been an important research topic in both mathematics and control theory.Specifically,Lyapunov's second method was soon generalized to the study of the stability of stochastic differential equations (SDEs) from ODEs [1-3].Unfortunately,to date,although deterministic difference equations have been systematically investigated,there are few systematic monographs on the stability of discrete-time stochastic difference systems corresponding to [1,2],which are regarding the stability of continuous-time It(o) systems.

Abstract:In this paper we investigate the stability in distribution for a class of stochastic functional differential equations (SFDEs), which include stochastic differential delay equations (SDDEs). Although stability in distribution has been studied by several authors recently, there is so far no stability-in-distribution criterion on SFDEs where the terms involved the delay components are highly nonlinear (not bounded by linear functions). In this paper we will establish the sufficient criteria on the stability in distribution for a class of highly nonlinear SFDEs. Two examples will be given to illustrate our new results. We also explain the reason why the existing stability-in-distribution criteria are not applicable by these two examples.

Abstract:In this paper,a survey is given for the investigation on the stability of numerical schemes of stochastic differential equations in the past years.As a related topic,the convergence of the schemes is involved.The paper introduces the achieved results by literatures for the classical It(o) stochastic differential equations,stochastic functional differential equations of the neutral type, and the stochastic differential equations with Markov or Poisson jumps.The involved numerical schemes include the Euler-Maruyama scheme,the Backward Euler-Maruyama scheme,the θ scheme,and the split-step scheme,etc.The paper analyzes the academic thoughts in some classical literatures on the stability equivalence theorems and proposes some problems and challenges for further investigations on the numerical computations and simulations of stochastic differential equations at the end of the paper.

Abstract:So far, the Lyapunov direct method is still the most effective technique in the study of stability for ordinary differential equations and stochastic differential equations. Due to the shortage of the corresponding Itô formula, this useful method has not been popularized in stochastic partial differential equations. The aim of this work is to try to extend the Lyapunov direct method to the Itô stochastic reaction diffusion systems and to establish the corresponding Lyapunov stability theory, including stability in probablity, asymptotic stability in probability, and exponential stability in mean square. As the application of the obtained theorems, this paper addresses the stability of the Hopfield neural network and points out that the main results obtained by Holden Helge and Liao Xiaoxin et al. can be all regarded as the corollaries of the theorems presented in this paper.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the stability of solutions to conformable stochastic differential equations. Firstly, we show the trivial solution are stochastially stable, stochastically asymptotically stable and almost surely exponentially stable, respectively. Secondly, we show the nontrivial solution are Ulam's type stable in the sense of probabilities. Finally, two examples are given to present the theoretically results.

Abstract:This present paper deals with the problem of stabilization and destabilization of nonlinear stochastic differential delay equations. The key techniques used in this paper are the LaSalle-type stability theorems, the nonnegative semimartingale convergence theorem, and the law of large numbers for martingales. The proposed results can be applied to study the stabilization and destabilization of more general nonlinear stochastic dynamical time-delay systems. Computer simulations are presented to illustrate our theory.

Abstract:The paper discusses problems on random perturbations which impact the running stability and the quality of service in the power systems.And for the perturbed power systems stability analysis and stabilization controlling,basic methods based on probabilistic theory and stochastic dynamic system theory are discussed here,including random perturbations modeling,probabilistic stability analysis,the stability index and controlling strategy based on stochastic differential equations of dynamic systems,simulation tests for the stochastic power system,etc.We also present that these investigation results are important supplement for the power systems' classic stability analysis and controlling theory.Some remaining problems and the exploration direction in this field are pointed out at end of the paper.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the stability problem of randomly switched systems. By using the probability analysis method, the almost surely globally asymptotical stability and almost surely exponential stability are investigated for switched systems with semi-Markovian switching, Markovian switching, and renewal process switching signals, respectively. Two examples are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed results, in which an example of consensus of multiagent systems with nonlinear dynamics is taken into account.

Abstract:The stability of synchronized states (including equilibrium point, periodic orbit or chaotic attractor) in stochastic coupled dynamical systems (ordinary differential equations) is considered. A general approach is presented, based on the master stability function, Gershgorin disc theory and the extreme value theory in statistics, to yield constraints on the distribution of coupling to ensure the stability of synchronized dynamics. Three types of different behaviour: global-stable, exponential-stable and power-stable, are found, depending on the nature of the distribution of the interactions between units. Systems with specific coupling schemes are used as examples to illustrate our general method.

Our essential idea is to get stability of solutions or systems by some inherited properties of Lyapunov functions. Abstract:It is well known that the linear growth condition is an important assumption for the stochastic differential system, which can ensure that the solution of the stochastic system will not explode at a finite time. However, there exist a lot of highly non-linear stochastic differential systems, which do not satisfy the linear growth condition, i.e. their coefficients cannot be bounded by a linear function. In this study, the existence of the unique global solution is first proved for highly non-linear switched stochastic systems with non-random switching signals, where the linear growth condition is not required anymore. In addition, by using the mode-dependent average dwell time approach and the Lyapunov functions method, the pth moment exponential stability is presented for highly non-linear switched stochastic systems with both stable and unstable subsystems. An illustrative example is provided to show the effectiveness of the developed theoretical results.

Abstract:In this paper, we study a class of stochastic fractional differential equations. We first establish a novel comparison principle for such equations. Then, we use the new comparison principle to obtain some stability criteria, which include the stability in probability, uniform stability in probability, asymptotic stability in probability, and p th moment exponential stability.
