Abstract:The graphene-copper composite with excellent performance was in-situ prepared by using rotary chemical vapor deposition ( RCVD ) combined with vacuum hot pressing sintering process. The structure and morphology of composite powder as well as effects of graphene addition on the microstructure and properties of graphene-Cu composites were studied by using Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and optical microscopy, together with testing on Vickers hardness, electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity. Results showed that two kinds of composite powder with graphene content of 0. 015% and 0. 026% were synthesized by increasing the concentration of methane gas from 0.17% to 0.67% in the process of RCVD and adopting a vacuum hot pressing sintering process. Two composites were nearly fully densified (≥99. 0%) . The addition of graphene remarkably resulted in the finer grain size of the copper matrix. Compared to the average grain size of pure copper bulk material ( 46. 8 μm ) , the average grain size of two as-prepared composites were 22.7 μm and 17.9μm, respectively. Furthermore, the hardness of the composites was also improved significantly, about 30% higher than that of pure copper sample. With the increasing of the grapheme content, the electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity of the graphene-Cu composites gradually decreased, with the decline similar to that of pure copper sample.
