Abstract:In order to collect an accurate and reliable knowledge for the optimization of process variables, combined with the artificial intelligence technology (neural networks and expert system), an FEM based intelligent process evaluation system was established to guide the optimization of the parameters of spinning process. A feasible scheme of stagger spinning parameter optimization was set. The technique of ANN and expert system were utilized. The whole system is well supported by experiments and the optimization results coincide well with the experiment.

Abstract:Based on original yarn model,light interaction model is taken into account to enhance the realistic effect of fabric surface. Using BRDF function of the material can render the weave of microstructure of the fabric.Meanwhile,this paper emphasizes the light interaction model of the fabric,the algorithm of BRDF and the implementation details.The improved simulation system with BRDF algorithm can generate more realistic texture.For coarse and complicated weave pattern jacquard,the simulation is especially perfect.

Abstract:A modified 3D finite element (3D-FE) model is developed under the FE software environment of LS-DYNA based on characteristics of stagger spinning process and actual production conditions. Several important characteristics of the model are proposed, including full model, hexahedral element, speed boundary mode, full simulation, double-precision mode, and no-interference. Modeling procedures and key technologies are compared and summarized: speed mode is superior to displacement mode in simulation accuracy and stability; time truncation is an undesirable option for analysis of the distribution trend of time-history parameters to guarantee that the data has reached the stable state; double-precision mode is more suitable for stagger spinning simulation, as truncation error has obvious effects on the accuracy of results; interference phenomenon can lead to obvious oscillation and mutation simulation results and influence the reliability of simulation significantly. Then, based on the modified model, some improvements of current reported results of roller intervals have been made, which lead to higher accuracy and reliability in the simulation.

Abstract:Master-slave multi-microcomputer control system based on PC-BUS for hollow spindle fancy yarn spinning on machine, mainly its overall scheme, software and hardware construction, is introduced. Spinning experiments show that the system achieves satisfactory result. This system can solve the difficulties of fusion between hollow spindle fancy yarn spinning machine and its microcomputer control.

Abstract:A finite element model suited to the nature of the process of tube spinning has been built and the deformation field of the process has been simulated by the 3D rigid–plastic FEM (finite element method) in this paper. The distributions of stress and strain rate of the deformation field are obtained. The results of the simulation can well explain the enlarged diameter, the reduced diameter, the reflection of the generatrices and wave, etc., and agree well with the experimental results.

Abstract:In this article, the authors establish a new method of developing weave simulation CAD system. Firstly, a mathematic model for yarn simulation is set up, which is based on light and shade effect generated by illumination. And then, after abstracting the surface layer information of woven fabric, the authors finally realize the weave simulation, with the floating principle fully considered. Besides, each functional module is designed to be relatively independent, which is helpful for updating system in the future.

Abstract:In order to simulate gas-solids flows with complex geometry, the boundary element method was incorporated into the implementation of a combined model of computational fluid dynamics and discrete element method. The resulting method was employed to simulate hydrodynamics in a fluidized bed with immersed tubes. The transient simulation results showed particle and bubble dynamics. The bubble coalescence and break-up behavior when passing the immersed tubes was successfully predicted. The gassolid flow pattern in the fluidized bed is changed greatly because of the immersed tubes. As particles and gas are come in contact with the immersed tubes, the gas bubbles will be deformed. The collisions between particles and tubes will make the tubes surrounded by air pockets most of the time and this is unfavorable for the heat transfer between particles and tubes.

Abstract:In this study, the motion assumption of ball in spinning process is proposed based on the experimental observation, and the quasi-dynamic model of ball in spinning process is established with consideration of the centrifugal force and gyroscopic moment of the ball. Using the VC++ platform, the quasi-dynamic model is programmed using bee colony intelligent algorithm to obtain the force at each point of the ball and the three dimensional self-rotation speed of the ball under the given process parameters. The spinning process is simulated with the ABAQUS software, and the kinematics and mechanical parameters of the ball are compared with the theoretical values. The developed model can provide theoretical support for the production of ball spinning, which facilitates the selection of process parameters in spinning process. In addition, this study provides a theoretical basis for further studying the accuracy and control method of the tube deformation caused by ball deformation and die deformation in the ball spinning process.

Abstract:A fabric simulation system of 2D virtual scene is researched and implemented in this paper. The system not only simulates the folds and transformations of the scene realistically but also allows replacement and modification of fabric. The finite element mesh algorithm is used to model the virtual scene. In order to avert deformations of texture mapping, the cubic polynomial interpolation algorithm is proposed in this paper. It can overcome the low-pass characteristic of the bilinear interpolation algorithm by eliminating the jags generated from texture mapping. To make the scene simulation more stereo, this paper utilizes the intensity based fusion algorithm, which retains the original scene's intensity. The experimental results show that the two-dimensional fabric scene simulation system is accurate and realistic, and has rapid time response.
3D Simulation of Rotary Swaging Process for Thin-Walled Tube

Abstract:A large deformation elastic-plastic finite element model was developed to simulate the rotary swaging process of thin-walled tube, a benchmark from International Cold Forging Group (ICFG) 2008. Based on the simulation results, the effects of cold rotary swaging with high-frequency pulse stroking on the distributions of different field variables such as stress and strain were clarified; the different friction contributions were discussed as well. A comparison between the calculated results and experimental data was demonstrated. The result of simulation with friction coefficient of 0.3 is the closest; with the discontinuous local incremental forming process, the deformation of the tube increases by point-line-surface and uniformly distributes on circumference; the deformation force step rises until reaches maximum, then it goes forward in small oscillation. And according to the research, friction is not so related to the deformation force.

Abstract:In casing production straightening determines the shape precision and residual stress in casing, which have strong influence on the collapse resistance of casing. A new numerical simulation for the crushing process of tube was carried out, using Marc as finite element codes. The subroutine of the relationship between the stress and plastic strain was worked out based on the cyclic stress-strain test, which can be used to precisely analyze the plastic behavior of the tube steel. Several methods of the determination of crushing processing parameters were numerically simulated and discussed. The 3D model of a tube section crushing was founded, the result is similar with the 2D model.

Abstract:Tube spinning with non-symmetric distribution of three rollers has special advantages in hot spinning of large-diameter tubular workpieces,but there is little information available in the literature concerning non-symmetric spinning.In the present study,the FEM model of non-symmetric spinning has been established and the spinning process has been simulated,which reveals deformation characteristics of non-symmetric tube spinning.The results show that non-symmetric distribution of three rollers makes the stress and strain field distributed not periodically along circumferential direction on the surface of tube billet.Although roller Ⅱ and Ⅲ have symmetric relationship the distribution of stress and strain rate near around the contact zone under the two rollers are obviously different.However,the distribution of stress and strain rate under roller Ⅰ and Ⅱ are similar to each other.The non-symmetric distribution of three rollers makes the area of roller contacting region different,which causes the plastic zone of roller Ⅲ smaller than roller Ⅰ and Ⅱ.Correspondingly the spinning force of roller Ⅲ is smaller than that of roller Ⅰ and Ⅱ.The distribution of deformation field can explain some phenomena reasonably such as axial extending,diameter growth and pileup during spinning.
Numerical Simulation of Stagger Spinning of Cylindrical Part with Cross Inner Ribs

Abstract:Flow spinning is an advantageous technology in forming thin-walled cylindrical parts, but for cylindrical parts with inner ribs,the height of the inner ribs that can be formed is limited. Aimed at the problem that the inner ribs are difficult to fill in such components, a numerical simulation model of staggered spinning of thin-walled cylindrical parts with cross inner ribs is established based on Abaqus, and the influence of the number of rollers on the filling of inner ribs is analyzed. The process test of the cylinder part with orthogonal inner ribs is conducted. The results show that in the staggered spinning process, increasing the number of rollers will reduce the diameter expansion of the aluminum alloy cylindrical part with inner ribs, and inhibit the axial flow of materials, leading to a higher geometric accuracy of the inner ribs. The comparison of the simulation results and the test results shows that the average error of the inner rib filling fullness of simulation result is 11.3%, and the simulation model has a good reliability.

Abstract:Spinning is widely used in aerospace and automobile industries, and non-axisymmetric spinning is developing with the increasing demand of irregular shape forming. Based on this, an avoidance groove at the middle of the tube (AGMT) which has a potential application value in aircraft structure weight reduction is proposed and formed by using non-axisymmetric die-less spinning. The roller path is analyzed. The relationship between radial displacement of roller and the rotation time of the tube is deduced. Based on the roller path, 3D finite element model is established. Then, the AGMT spinning experiment is carried out to verify the simulation results. The maximum deviation between the simulation and experimental results is less than 15%. It is indicated that the 3D finite element model established in this study is reliable and the method for the AGMT forming is feasible. The wall thickness and strain–stress distributions are analyzed. The severe wall thickening and thinning occur in the transition zones; more attention should be paid to these positions. The depth of the groove has great impact on the forming quality. Deeper groove results in distortion and larger wall thickness difference. The research lays a foundation for the further development and optimization of the AGMT spinning.

Abstract:Numerical simulation of the high-speed fiber spinning process was carried out using Polyflow software, based on the models proposed by Doufas et at. Calculation predicts not only the variation of parameters along the spinline, but also the radially distribution of flow field variables, Such as temperature, crystallinity and molecular structure. Considering combined effects on the process Such as flow-induced crystallization, viscoelasticity, filament cooling, air drag, inertia, surface tension and gravity, the Simulated material flow behaviors are consistent with that observed for semi-crystalline polymer under various spinning conditions. The structure change of polymer coils in the necking region described by the evolution of conformation tensor is also investigated. Moreover, three-dimensional (3D) simulation approach was also used to predict the fiber shape given the spinneret geometry, combined with the die design capability. It is helpful to design die geometry for generating fibers with complex cross-sections.
A Study of Influence of Interference Phenomenon on Stagger Spinning of Thin-Walled Tube

Abstract:In this article, a unique phenomenon called position and inclination interference in stagger spinning process is characterized and investigated. A series of trials are presented to illustrate the causality of visible bulge and concave of wall thickness between position interference, as well as the imbalance and oscillation of roller force. Also, effects of inclination interference have been discussed. Finally, formulae of roller interval selection without interference phenomenon are derived based on the characteristics of position and inclination interference to help exclude invalid combination of roller intervals and guide selection of inclination of roller and blank, which will effectively reduce the amounts of invalid experiments or simulations.

Abstract:Internally toothed gears have wide application as transmission components, for which spinning process is attracting increasing attention due to its high production efficiency and low cost. In this paper, a multi-pass stagger spinning process of internally toothed gear from plate blank was investigated through FEM simulation and process experiment. Two passes, i.e., drawing spinning and power spinning, were designed during stagger spinning. The deformation characteristics were analyzed, the mechanisms of spinning defects were revealed and the influences of process parameters were discussed. It is shown that the preform formed by drawing spinning in the first pass contributed to the filling of inner tooth cavity in the second pass. Underfilling and crack in the vicinity of the tooth were two typical defects, which could be effectively controlled through optimizing the spinning process. On this basis, the internally toothed gear was well formed with high productivity by stagger spinning on a CNC spinning machine, showing great potential for industrial application.

Abstract:Purpose The warp-knitted fully-formed shorts are one kind of fully-formed garments knitted by a double-needle bar machine, which is widely used in the medical field. Because of its distinctive forming method, designers are unable to grasp the final effect of the product accurately during the design process. The purpose of this paper is to clarify a visible 3D simulation method in the design process along with the knitting method and structure characteristics, which is reflected in the final product effect. Design/methodology/approach This study introduces a simulation process for warp-knitted fully-formed fabric from an input 3D surface model group. Stitch mesh models are established according to the garment structure and the triangle index of the garment model that swchape-controlling points belong to is calculated. The garment model group includes a 2D plate and a 3D model, between which there is a space coordinate transformation relationship. The study makes use of the 3D tubes to connect the coordinate points in order and render the tubes in real yarn colors. The effects of two parameters, radial segment and tubular segment, are analyzed and decided to obtain a fine surface within a reasonable rendering time. Findings A stereoscopic simulation process from flat fabric to 3D product is realized using computer graphics technology. The warp-knitted fully-formed short is shown during the design process within a short time by setting the rendering parameters of tubular segments (ts = 125) and radial segments (rs = 6). Originality/value Visual simulation for the shorts provides a time-saving and resource-saving method for structure design and parameter modification before knitting. There is no need to knit samples repeatedly to satisfy demand, which indicates that it is a saver of time and resources.

Abstract:With the rapid development of computer technology and the continuous improvement of computational fluid dynamics theory,many researchers at home and abroad by using CFD software have done large number of simulations of blender internal flow field.At the same time,there are many scholars aiming at mixing equipment internal flow field using the LDV and PIV measurement technology to carried on the experimental study.The results show that CFD simulation result coincides with the experimental data very well.Six leaf disc turbine blender internal solid-liquid suspension flow field is calculated by using sliding grid method.The standard turbulent model and Euler Method to establish the fluid mechanics model is used in this simulation.The blender in different speed and different height of installation,the distribution of flow field are researched.The difference of numerical simulation and experimental study about the power consumption is analyzed.Through numerical simulation,so as to provide reference for the design and enlargement of mixer.
