Abstract:At present,high voltage (HV)reactors are mainly used to restrain the power frequency overvoltage and secondary arc current,not for the voltage control purpose.With the spreading and changing of power grid,part of HV reactors cannot be put into operation.In order to improve the use efficiency of assets,an optimization configuration method of HV reactor was proposed.Firstly,this method comprehensively considered the capacitance effect and power loss of transmission lines,as well as the existing inductive reactive power compensation degree of the two end stations of the lines;and set of alternative configuration schemes were designed for HV reactors.Then,a comprehensive evaluation system of reactive voltage was established for the configuration schemes of HV reactors with considering the maximum voltage fluctuation and deviation,average power loss,and switching action quantity of inactive power adjusting devices as evaluation indexes.A weighted method based on the variance of fuzzy memberships was introduced for a more scientific and objective optimal scheme decision strategy.Finally,combined with the configuration problem of HV reactors in Shaanxi power grid, the proposed method was proved to be effective and feasible.

Abstract:The power flow of transmission lines may be overloaded when contingencies occur. To solve this problem effectively, this paper proposes a two-staged optimization model, which considers spinning reserve resources and network adjustment. Firstly, a DC power flow based mathematical model of network reconfiguration is introduced to obtain an approximate optimal solution. Then an AC power flow based mathematical model of network reconfiguration is introduced, and the obtained approximate optimal solution is used as an initial state. The proposed model is a mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) model, because it considers the AC power flow constraints and introduces binary integer variables. The branch and bound method and the primal dual interior point method are used to solve the MINLP problem. Finally, the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed methods are verified by simulations on Fujian transmission grids.

Abstract:In order to improve the economy of operation of transformer, this study presents a strategy to ensure the safety of power transformer for the situation of overload operation of parallel transformer. According to the variation of actual transformer operation, the authors divide the daily load curve into two typical time periods. In the high load operation period, except the constraint of minimum power loss for the economic operation, the factor for hot-spot temperature rise of the transformer should also be considered, so that an economic operation mode and parallel switching time could be obtained. This strategy estimates the hot spot temperature by the finite difference method, and obtains the optimal switching time through binary searching, according to the environment temperature and load curve. The analysis of the example of the operation of two sets of three winding transformers in parallel with different capacity shows that the method of optimization of the operation could reduce the loss. In the meantime, it could ensure the operation safety of the transformer, and prolong the service life of transformer.

Abstract:Using economic and technical parameters of transformers and transmission line both in operation and under construction,as well as the impact of multilevel network involved,this paper establishes an optimization model for economical substation capacity on the basis of optimization theory and the basic economic principle. According to the calculation model established,four types of 110/10kV transformers with different rating capacity are studied,the economical capacity and the economical load density interval under different load density are obtained,which verifies the validity of the model.The model also can be used as a reference for power system planning.

Abstract:The objective of this paper is to reduce the network loss of traction power supply system,improve power qual?ity and reasonablely utilize the traction transformer capacity. Based on multi-conductor transmission line model,and comprehensively considering the traction power supply quality and its impact on the power system,a minimum traction network power loss model within one train operation cycle is derived with the three-phase unbalanced degree as con?straint. Particle swarm optimization(PSO)is used to optimize the locations of traction substation and section post. A rea?sonable arm length of traction power supply is obtained to make the traction network energy loss minimum. Moreover, the capacities of trcution transformer with different wirings are also obtained. Example calculation show that the method can effectively reduce the network loss of traction,reduce the traction transformer capacity and improve the power quali?ty at the common coupling point.

Abstract:The economical operation mode is an operation mode in which the loss of transformers in the substation is least.The substation can run in the economical operation mode by means of a series of switching motions.It is worth noting that the substation does not simply obtain energy-saving benefits from a reduction in loss but also there is the cost of switching motions.Therefore the profit from energy saving should be the difference between the two.This paper analyzes both their respective causes and meanings,demonstrates the specific calculation process,and finally gives an example of calculating the energy saving profits that provides an important reference to a certain specific switching motion series in the substation.

Abstract:The economic operation mode of distribution transformers interconnected at low voltage side to reduce distribution network loss is researched.The load switchover principle of distribution substation under economic operation mode is analyzed,the rules of load switehover point selection based on the minimal loss theory are proposed,and the working principle and action logic of the automatic switchover equipment at low-voltage side is presented.The transient process of three-phase transformer switching-on with and without load is mathematically modeled.With Matlab simulative calculation and practical analysis,the inrush excitation current of the switching-on without load and the impact current of switching-on with load are analyzed.Combined with the setting principles of instantaneous overcurrent protection and inverse time overcurrent protection,the influence of inrush current and impact current on the operating characteristics and parameter setting of transformer protections are studied.The reliability of power supply under economic operation mode of distribution transformers interconnected at low voltage side is verified.

Abstract:There are many proposed inverter design topologies, which exhibit certain advantages and disadvantages in various performance aspects. However there exist few quantitative techniques to optimally develop inverters to achieve different objectives such as size minimization, power loss minimization and reliability maximization. Without the relevant techniques, the selection and design of inverters are merely based on qualitative reasoning, which are often subjective to individual preferences. Aiming to address that issue, this paper proposes an optimal design method for two level inverters. The design objective is to achieve optimal performance of inverters by selecting appropriate size, power loss and reliability. The specified operation conditions such as ambient temperature, input voltage, output voltage and output power are considered in the design process. Five typical types of two level inverters, namely: conventional inverter, DC-DC boosted PWM inverter, Z-source inverter, Cuk-derived inverter and SEPIC-zeta-derived inverter are selected and analyzed by using the proposed methods.

Abstract:In the proper low load period of 10 kV distribution substation,it will effectively reduce the loss of distribution transformer in the operation mode of single transformer and interconnection of low-voltage bus-bar.The selection principle of the load switching points in the economic operation mode of substation is analyzed,the theory and methods of bus-bar automatic transfer switch of low-voltage sides are submitted.The practical scheme of bus-bar automatic transfer switch with the relays of SEL-351 series is also designed.

Abstract:The grid characteristics significantly differ in various areas because of the broad region in China. The appropriate construction standards should b e researched according to the different supply regions. The main trans former capacity con figuration of 110~35kV substation is researched in the paper. The optimization method of main transformer capacity is proposed. The capacity optimization mathematical model is established which takes the lowest annual cost per unit area of power network as the objective function. And the corresponding grid models of different voltage levels are created. The main transformer capacities of 110~35kV substation are optimized according to the load characteristics of different supply regions and the final capacity configuration is proposed.

Abstract:An operating strategy considering the real-time variation of hottest-spot temperature is proposed to ensure the safety of parallel power transformer during overload operation. The daily load curve is divided into high-load period and low-load period according to the actual load variation. During the high-load period, both the minimum power loss of economic operation and the temperature rise of transformer hottest-spot should be considered, by which, the economic operating mode and the switching time of parallel power transformers can be determined. It applies the finite difference method to estimate the hottest-spot temperature according to the load curve and ambient temperature and adopts the binary searching method to obtain the optimal switching time. Analysis of two three-winding transformers with different capacities and running in parallel shows that, the proposed strategy ensures the safe operation of transformers as well as reduces the transformer loss.

Abstract:High-temperature superconducting transformers are an important research topic of superconducting technology in power applications, and electromagnetic field analysis and optimization are the basis for the design and application of high-temperature superconducting transformers. The electromagnetic field analysis of high-temperature superconducting transformers should consider the superconducting properties of the materials, that is, the properties of critical current and magnetic field. This paper aims to study the electromagnetic field analysis and optimization method of high-temperature superconducting transformer under the influence of abnormal voltage. Due to the energy loss of high-temperature superconducting transformers, in order to study the economy and reliability of high-temperature superconducting transformers, in this paper, the core loss, winding AC loss, and coil power consumption of high-temperature superconducting transformers are analyzed under normal operation and short-circuit fault conditions, respectively. The power and stress on the windings are analyzed. In order to take into account the current-carrying capacity, short-circuit loss, and short-circuit electromotive force of superconducting windings in normal operation, a concentrically placed double-cake coil structure is selected in this paper, and according to different optimization objectives, a global optimization method is used to evaluate the structure of the coil. The structural parameters of the high-temperature superconducting transformer are optimized, including the structural parameters of the magnetic conducting ring. It is found that that abnormal voltage will affect the electromagnetic field of high-temperature superconducting transformers, including winding circulating current, leakage magnetic field, and current distribution.

Abstract:As the main equipment in the converter station,the converter transformer′s operation is of the most importance to the reliability of DC transmission.The configuration and operation situation of converter transformers in every converter station of State Grid Corporation of China(SGCC) are introduced,and typical faults occurred in the converter transformers are analyzed,including maloperations of non-electrical protections,high content of acetylene,and asynchrony of taps.Measures that SGCC adopted to solve the faults are recommended.

Abstract:Based on characteristics investigation of reactive power dispatch conditions of present high-voltage distribution networks (HVDNs) in China, a two layer optimal reactive power dispatch (ORPD) model has been proposed in which all the decision variables are discrete types in order to reduce the combination decision space; open-source MATPOWER procedure is taken as the power flow calculation module after turning the three windings transformer into two windings model. An enhanced Genetic Algorithm (EGA) is developed and the simulations have proven that the proposed model and algorithm are effective and efficient.

Abstract:To address the problem of winding turn-to-turn breakdown faults in 35 kV dry-type transformers in wind farms under overvoltage conditions, this paper establishes a simulation model based on the structural dimensions and material parameters of the transformer windings. The winding distribution parameters were calculated using the finite element method. The transient processes inside the high-voltage coil were calculated by constructing a multi-conductor transmission line model (MTL) that took into account the influence of the secondary winding. The voltage distribution of the winding was analysed for both lightning shock and extra-fast transient overvoltage conditions. The simulation results show that the maximum overvoltage between turns of the transformer winding under lightning shock is 5.282 kV; the maximum overvoltage between turns of the winding under very fast transient overvoltage is 11.6 kV, which occurs between the first 2–3 layers of the section, close to the insulation breakdown margin. On this basis, the transformer winding structure was optimised and the maximum inter-turn overvoltage after optimisation was 9.104 kV, reducing the likelihood of insulation breakdown by 24.1%. Finally, the accuracy of the winding structure optimisation simulation study was verified by testing the transformer's impulse voltage before and after optimisation, providing a reference for the stable operation of 35 kV dry-type transformers in wind farm practical applications.

Abstract:By optimizing the parameters of primary and secondary windings, winding structure and core material, a small size transformer with multiple primary windings for triggering the trigatron is realized. The transformer can output 40 kV in unloaded condition and can afford hundreds of amperes current with an intermediate energy storage capacitor to trigger the switch under low voltage ratio. With the insulation structure being improved, the transformer can withstand any possible over-voltage or back feed current caused by the reflection of the output cables.

Abstract:Studying the harmonic generation principle of series‐connected multi‐pulse rectifiers, based on the principle, the optimization design method for main transformers is proposed. To improve the power density of series‐connected multi‐pulse rectifiers (MPRs), the harmonic generation principle is studied and the optimization design method for main transformers is proposed. According to the topology of series‐connected 18‐pulse rectifier, its operation waveforms are analysed, and the Fourier series of the waveforms is obtained. Based on the operation waveforms and its Fourier analysis, the principle for harmonic generation of the rectifier is researched, and the phenomenon of autotransformer cannot be applied to series‐connected MPRs is researched. According to the characteristics of the transformer, its vector graphics are analysed. Based on the vector graphics, the optimal structure of the transformer with the highest power density is obtained. The results show that the premise of the normal operation of series‐connected MPRs is the potential difference between the neutral points of different secondary windings, and only isolation/semi‐isolation transformers meet the requirement; the kilovolt‐ampere (kVA) rating of the optimal isolation type transformer is 104.6% pu, and the kVA rating of the optimal semi‐isolation type transformer is about 71.23% pu.

Abstract:Welding transformer is widely used in industry manufacturing,depleting a large Portion of electricity energy.Based on modern computer and mathematical programming,Optimun design of electro-magnetic devicesleads to highly efficient use of energr and materials.Arc welding transformer is optimized here.A mathematical model,considering both productive cost and operating losses,which is called ar Economical-through-Life transformer,is estab-lished.Mixed function method,mixed dispersing variable method and improved orthogonal method have beenapplied to carry out the optimization calculations.Result shows that the power factor is quite important in an Econmi-cal-through-Life transformer,and that some principles must be followed in the design work.Also discussed are the ad-vantages and disadvantages of the three methods.In the end,the prospect of optimum design of welding transformer isforecast.
