Abstract:As the main component of GIS circuit breaker, the insulation pull rod is the connection unit between the mechanism and the contact. The tensile properties of the insulation pull rod has a great influence on the reliable operation of the GIS circuit breaker. In this paper, through static tensile experiments, the tensile properties of insulation pull rod for 220kV GIS circuit breaker which are made of different interface bonding technology and different fiber-reinforced composite materials were tested. The strain distribution and change rule in the tensile experiment were measured by strain sensors, and the tensile failure values and failure morphology of different insulation pull rods were obtained. It can be seen from the experimental results that the stress is concentrated at the bolt hole of the metal part on the operating mechanism side when the insulation pull rod bears the axial tension. Compared with the experimental results of two different kinds of pull rods, the tensile failure value of pull rods made of aramid fiber reinforced composite materials is higher, but the mechanical weak point is the sticking-joint between the insulation pipe and the metal parts. The peeling of the adhesive interface will lead to the uneven local stress of the insulation pull rod, which will affect its mechanical and electrical performance, even cause complete damage. However, the pull rod made of glass fiber reinforced material adopts the design of thread assembly at the sticking-joint. So the strength of the its adhesive interface is higher. The tensile failure mode of it is that the bolt hole of the metal part at the mechanism side is damaged by the tensile force, which indicates that the strength of the material is insufficient.
