Abstract:We study the quasisymmetric geometry of the Julia sets of McMullen maps fλ(z) = zm + λ/zℓ, where λ ∈ ℂ {0} and ℓ and m are positive integers satisfying 1/ℓ+1/m < 1. If the free critical points of fλ are escaped to the infinity, we prove that the Julia set Jλ of fλ is quasisymmetrically equivalent to either a standard Cantor set, a standard Cantor set of circles or a round Sierpiński carpet (which is also standard in some sense). If the free critical points are not escaped, we give a suffcient condition on λ such that Jλ is a Sierpiński carpet and prove that most of them are quasisymmetrically equivalent to some round carpets. In particular, there exist infinitely renormalizable rational maps whose Julia sets are quasisymmetrically equivalent to the round carpets.

Abstract:In this paper we describe some recent results on the geometry of the moduli space of Riemann surfaces. We surveyed new and classical metrics on the moduli spaces of hyperbolic Riemann surfaces and their geometric properties. We then discussed the Mumford goodness and generalized goodness of various metrics on the moduli spaces and their deformation invariance. By combining with the dual Nakano negativity of the Weil-Petersson metric we derive various consequences such that the infinitesimal rigidity, the Gauss-Bonnet theorem and the log Chern number computations.

Abstract:We briefly survey our recent results about the Mumford goodness of several canonical metrics on the moduli spaces of Riemann surfaces, including the Weil-Petersson metric, the Ricci metric, the Perturbed Ricci metric and the Kahler-Einstein metric. We prove the dual Nakano negativity of the Weil-Petersson metric. As applications of these results we deduce certain important results about the L 2 -cohomology groups of the logarithmic tangent bundle over the compactified moduli spaces.

Abstract: We prove the existence of global sections trivializing the Hodge bundles on the Hodge metric completion space of the Torelli space of Calabi--Yau manifolds, a global splitting property of these Hodge bundles. We also prove that a compact Calabi--Yau manifold can not be deformed to its complex conjugate. These results answer certain open questions in the subject. A general result about the period map to be bi-holomorphic from the Hodge metric completion space of the Torelli space of Calabi--Yau type manifolds to their period domains is proved and applied to the cases of K$3$ surfaces, cubic fourfolds, and hyperk\"ahler manifolds.

Abstract:We prove that the g-function operator g(phi), where 0 (x) = h (I x 1) Q (x) with Omega(x) = Omega(x') is an element of H-1(Sn-1) and h(s) satisfing certain continuity hypothesis, is bounded on Triebel-Lizorkin space F-p(alpha,q)(R-n) when 0 < a < 1 and 1 < p, q < infinity. In particular, we get that the Marcinkiewicz integral operator mu(Omega) with H-1-kernel is bounded on F-p(alpha,q).

Abstract:We find an extension of the quasi-metric (to be called $g$-quasi metric) such that the induced generalized topology may fail to form a topology. We show that $g$-quasi metrizability is a $g$-topologically invariant property of generalized topological spaces. Extending metric product and uniform continuity for $g$-quasi metric spaces, we note that a $g$-quasi metric may fail to be uniformly continuous in the extended sense unlike usual metric. Finally, we extend the study of completeness, Lebesgue property and weak $G$-completeness for $g$-quasi metric spaces.

Abstract: Determination of quasi-invariant generalized functions is important for a variety of problems in representation theory, notably character theory and restriction problems. In this note, we review some new and easy-to-use techniques to show vanishing of quasi-invariant generalized functions, developed in the recent work of the authors (Uniqueness of Ginzburg-Rallis models: the Archimedean case, Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 363, (2011), 2763-2802). The first two techniques involve geometric notions attached to submanifolds, which we call metrical properness and unipotent $\chi$-incompatibility. The third one is analytic in nature, and it arises from the first occurrence phenomenon in Howe correspondence. We also highlight how these techniques quickly lead to two well-known uniqueness results, on trilinear forms and Whittaker models.

Abstract:Concerning the value distribution problem for generalized Gauss maps, we not only generalize Fujimoto’s theorem (J Math Soc Jpn 40:235–247, 1988) to complete space-like stationary surfaces in ℝ^3,1 , but also estimate the upper bound of the number of exceptional values when the Gauss image lies in the graph of a rational function f of degree m, which is determined by the number of solutions of f(w)=w̅ , showing a sharp contrast to Bernstein type results for minimal surfaces in ℝ^4 . Moreover, we introduce the concept of conjugate similarity on SL(2,ℂ) to classify all degenerate stationary surfaces (i.e. m≤ 1 ), and establish several structure theorems for complete stationary graphs in ℝ^3,1 from the viewpoint of the degeneracy of Gauss maps.

Ensuite nous discutons la bonté de Mumford et la bonté généralisée de différentes métriques sur l'espace de modules et leurs invariance de déformation. En combinant avec la négativité de Nakano duale de la métrique de Weil-Peterson nous en tirons différentes conséquences telles que la rigidité infinitésimale, le théorème de Gauss-Bonnet et les calculs de nombres logarithmiques de Chern.

Abstract:A Riemannian manifold (M n ,g) is associated with a Schouten (0,2)-tensor Cg which is a naturally defined Codazzi tensor in case (M n ,g) is a locally conformally flat Riemannian manifold. In this paper, we study the Riemannian functional F k [g] = f M σ k (C g )dvol g defined on M 1 = {g E M|Vol(g) = 1}, where M is the space of smooth Riemannian metrics on a compact smooth manifold M and {σ k (C g ), 1 5 and a conformally flat metric g is a critical point of F 2 |M 1 with F 2 [g] > 0, then g must have constant sectional curvature. This is a generalization of Gursky and Viaclovsky's very recent theorem that the critical point of F 2 |M 1 with F 2 [g] > 0 characterized the three-dimensional space forms.

Abstract:We are concerned with the study of fixed points for mappings $T: X\to X$, where $(X,G)$ is a $G$-metric space in the sense of Mustafa and Sims. After the publication of the paper [Journal of Nonlinear and Convex Analysis. 7(2) (2006) 289--297] by Mustafa and Sims, a great interest was devoted to the study of fixed points in $G$-metric spaces. In 2012, the first and third authors observed that several fixed point theorems established in $G$-metric spaces are immediate consequences of known fixed point theorems in standard metric spaces. This observation demotivated the investigation of fixed points in $G$-metric spaces. In this paper, we open new directions in fixed point theory in $G$-metric spaces. Namely, we establish new versions of the Banach, Kannan and Reich fixed point theorems in $G$-metric spaces. We point out that the approach used by the first and third authors [Fixed Point Theory Appl. 2012 (2012) 1--7] is inapplicable in the present study. We also provide some interesting applications related to mappings contracting perimeters of triangles.

Abstract:The conformal Codazzi structure is an intrinsic geometric structure on strictly convex hypersufaces in a locally flat projective manifold. We construct the GJMS operators and the Q-curvature for conformal Codazzi structures by using the ambient metric. We relate the total Q-curvature to the logarithmic coefficient in the volume expansion of the Blaschke metric, and derive the first and second variation formulas for a deformation of strictly convex domains.

Abstract:This paper continues the line of research where one shows a Bernsteintype theorem, namely, that a complete minimal submanifold of a Euclidean space has to be affine linear, by proving that its Gauss map is constant. This Gauss map is a harmonic map into some Grassmann manifold. Therefore, we need geometric conditions on the target of the Gauss map which imply that, being harmonic, it has to be constant. For this purpose, we identify a region W 1/3 in a Grassmann manifoldG(n,m,) not covered by a usualmatrix coordinate chart, with the following important property. For a complete n-submanifold M of Rn+m with n >= 3, and m >= 2, with parallel mean curvature whose image under the Gauss map is contained in a compact subset K subset of W 1/3 subset of G(n,m), we can construct strongly subharmonic functions on M and derive a priori estimates for the harmonic Gauss map, to eventually show that it is constant. While we do not know yet how close our region is to being optimal in this respect, it is substantially larger than what could be achieved previously with other methods. Consequently, this enables us to obtain substantially stronger Bernstein-type theorems in higher codimension than previously known. We also provide some new explicit computations for the example of Lawson and Osserman [18].
