Abstract:We study the quasisymmetric geometry of the Julia sets of McMullen maps fλ(z) = zm + λ/zℓ, where λ ∈ ℂ {0} and ℓ and m are positive integers satisfying 1/ℓ+1/m < 1. If the free critical points of fλ are escaped to the infinity, we prove that the Julia set Jλ of fλ is quasisymmetrically equivalent to either a standard Cantor set, a standard Cantor set of circles or a round Sierpiński carpet (which is also standard in some sense). If the free critical points are not escaped, we give a suffcient condition on λ such that Jλ is a Sierpiński carpet and prove that most of them are quasisymmetrically equivalent to some round carpets. In particular, there exist infinitely renormalizable rational maps whose Julia sets are quasisymmetrically equivalent to the round carpets.

Abstract:In this article, we develop the Yoccoz puzzle technique to study a family of rational maps termed McMullen maps. We show that the boundary of the immediate basin of infinity is always a Jordan curve if it is connected. This gives a positive answer to the question of Devaney. Higher regularity of this boundary is obtained in almost all cases. We show that the boundary is a quasi-circle if it contains neither a parabolic point nor a recurrent critical point. For the whole Julia set, we show that the McMullen maps have locally connected Julia sets except in some special cases.

Abstract:In this paper, we discuss the rational maps F_λ (z) = z^n + λ /z^n ,n ⩾ 2 with the positive real parameter λ . It is shown that the immediately attracting basin B λ of ∞ for F λ is always a Jordan domain if the Julia set of F λ is not a Cantor set. Furthermore, B λ is a quasidisk if there is no parabolic fixed point on the boundary of B λ . It is also shown that if the Julia set of F λ is connected, then it is locally connected and all Fatou components are Jordan domains. Finally, a complete description to the problem when the Julia set is a Sierpiński curve is given.

Abstract:In this paper, we give a family of rational maps whose Julia sets are Cantor circles and show that every rational map whose Julia set is a Cantor set of circles must be topologically conjugate to one map in this family on their corresponding Julia sets. In particular, we give the specific expressions of some rational maps whose Julia sets are Cantor circles, but they are not topologically conjugate to any McMullen maps on their Julia sets. Moreover, some non-hyperbolic rational maps whose Julia sets are Cantor circles are also constructed.

Abstract:In this article, we study the hyperbolic components of McMullen maps. We show that the boundaries of all hyperbolic components are Jordan curves. This settles a problem posed by Devaney. As a consequence, we show that cusps are dense on the boundary of the unbounded hyperbolic component. This is a dynamical analogue of McMullen's theorem that cusps are dense on the Bers' boundary of Teichm\"uller space.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the dynamical behavior of the family of complex rational maps which is given byfλ(z)=zn(z2n−λn+1)z2n−λ3n−1, where n≥2 and λ∈C⁎−{λ:λ2n−2=1}. This family of rational maps can be seen as a perturbation of the unicritical polynomial z↦zn if λ is small. We prove that the Julia set J(fλ) of fλ is either a quasicircle, a Cantor set of circles, a Sierpiński carpet or a degenerated Sierpiński carpet provided one of the free critical points of fλ is escaping to the origin or to the infinity. In particular, we prove that there exists suitable λ such that the Julia set J(fλ) is a Cantor set of circles, but fλ is not topologically conjugate to any McMullen map on their corresponding Julia sets.

Abstract:In this paper we discuss the dynamical structure of the rational family $(f_t)$ given by $$f_t(z)=tz^{m}\Big(\frac{1-z}{1+z}\Big)^{n}\quad(m\ge 2,~t\ne 0).$$ Each map $f_t$ has two super-attracting immediate basins and two free critical points. We prove that for $0<|t|\le 1$ and $|t|\ge 1$, either of these basins is completely invariant and at least one of the free critical points is inactive. Based on this separation we draw a detailed picture the structure of the dynamical and the parameter plane.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the dynamics of the family of rational maps with two parameters $$\begin{eqnarray}f_{a,b}(z)=z^{n}+\frac{a^{2}}{z^{n}-b}+\frac{a^{2}}{b},\end{eqnarray}$$ where $n\geq 2$ and $a,b\in \mathbb{C}^{\ast }$. We give a characterization of the topological properties of the Julia set and the Fatou set of $f_{a,b}$ according to the dynamical behavior of the orbits of the free critical points.

Abstract:For the family of complex rational functions of the form $R_{n,c,a}(z) = z^n + \dfrac{a}{z^n}+c$, known as ``Generalized McMullen maps'', for $a\neq 0$ and $n \geq 3$ fixed, we study the boundedness locus in some one-dimensional slices of the $(a,c)$-parameter space, by fixing a parameter or imposing a relation. First, if we fix $c$ with $|c|\geq 6$ while allowing $a$ to vary, assuming a modest lower bound on $n$ in terms of $|c|$, we establish the location in the $a$-plane of $n$ ``baby" Mandelbrot sets, that is, homeomorphic copies of the original Mandelbrot set. We use polynomial-like maps, introduced by Douady and Hubbard and applied for the subfamily $R_{n,a,0}$ by Devaney. Second, for slices in which $c=ta$, we again observe what look like baby Mandelbrot sets within these slices, and begin the study of this subfamily by establishing a neighborhood containing the boundedness locus.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the dynamics of the following family of rational maps f(lambda) (z) = z(2n) - 3(n+1) z(n) (z(2n) - lambda(n-1)) with one parameter lambda is an element of C* -{lambda:lambda(2n+2) =1}, where n >= 2. This family of rational maps is viewed as a singular perturbation of the bi- critical map P-n (z) = z(-n) if lambda not equal 0 is small. It is proved that the Julia set J (f(lambda)) is either a quasicircle, a Cantor set of circles, a Sierpinski carpet or a degenerate Sierpinski carpet provided the free critical orbits of f(lambda) are attracted by the super-attracting cycle 0 <-> 1. Furthermore, we prove that there exists suitable lambda such that J (f(lambda)) is a Cantor set of circles but the dynamics of f(lambda) on J (f(lambda)) is not topologically conjugate to that of any known rational maps with only one or two free critical orbits (including McMullen maps and the generalized McMullen maps). The connectivity of J (f(lambda)) is also proved if the free critical orbits are not attracted by the cycle 0 $ 1. Finally we give an estimate of the Hausdor ff dimension of the Julia set of f(lambda) in some special cases.

Abstract:This article extends the study of dynamical properties of the symmetric McMillan map, emphasizing its utility in understanding and modeling complex nonlinear systems. Although the map features six parameters, we demonstrate that only two are irreducible: the linearized rotation number at the fixed point and a nonlinear parameter representing the ratio of terms in the biquadratic invariant. Through a detailed analysis, we classify regimes of stable motion, provide exact solutions to the mapping equations, and derive a canonical set of action-angle variables, offering analytical expressions for the rotation number and nonlinear tune shift. We further establish connections between general standard-form mappings and the symmetric McMillan map, using the area-preserving Héon map and accelerator lattices with thin sextupole magnet as representative case studies. Our results show that, despite being a second-order approximation, the symmetric McMillan map provides a highly accurate depiction of dynamics across a wide range of system parameters, demonstrating its practical relevance in both theoretical and applied contexts.

Asymptotic cycles in fractional generalizations of multidimensional maps

Abstract:In regular dynamics, discrete maps are model presentations of discrete dynamical systems, and they may approximate continuous dynamical systems. Maps are used to investigate general properties of dynamical systems and to model various natural and socioeconomic systems. They are also used in engineering. Many natural and almost all socioeconomic systems possess memory which, in many cases, is power-law-like memory. Generalized fractional maps, in which memory is not exactly the power-law memory but the asymptotically power-law-like memory, are used to model and investigate general properties of these systems. In this paper we extend the definition of the notion of generalized fractional maps of arbitrary positive orders that previously was defined only for maps which, in the case of integer orders, converge to area/volume-preserving maps. Fractional generalizations of H'enon and Lozi maps belong to the newly defined class of generalized fractional maps. We derive the equations which define periodic points in generalized fractional maps. We consider applications of our results to the fractional and fractional difference H'enon and Lozi maps.

Abstract:We study critical orbits and bifurcations within the moduli space M-2 of quadratic rational maps, f : P-1 -> P-1. We focus on the family of curves, Per(1)(lambda) subset of M-2 for lambda is an element of C, defined by the condition that each f is an element of Per(1)(lambda) has a fixed point of multiplier lambda. We prove that the curve Per(1)(lambda) contains infinitely many postcritically finite maps if and only if lambda = 0, addressing a special case of Baker and DeMarco ('Special curves and postcritically finite polynomials', Forum of Math. Pi 1 (2013), doi: 10.1017/fmp.2013.2; Conjecture 1.4). We also show that the two critical points of f define distinct bifurcation measures along Per(1)(lambda).

Abstract:We study the parameter space of unicritical polynomials f(c) : z bar right arrow z(d) + c. For complex parameters, we prove that for Lebesgue almost every c, the map f(c) is either hyperbolic or infinitely renormalizable. For real parameters, we prove that for Lebesgue almost every c, the map f(c) is either hyperbolic, or Collet-Eckmann, or infinitely renormalizable. These results are based on controlling the spacing between consecutive elements in the "principal nest" of parapuzzle pieces.

Abstract:In this article, we study the topology and bifurcations of the moduli space M-3 of cubic Newton maps. It's a subspace of the moduli space of cubic rational maps, carrying the Riemann orbifold structure ((C)over-bar, (2, 3, infinity)).We prove two results: The boundary of the unique unbounded hyperbolic component is a Jordan arc and the boundaries of all other hyperbolic components are Jordan curves; The Head's angle map is surjective and monotone. The fibers of this map are characterized completely. The first result is a moduli space analogue of the first author's dynamical regularity theorem [37]. The second result confirms a conjecture of Tan Lei. (C) 2017 Published by Elsevier Inc.

Abstract:In this paper we study a one parameter family of rational maps obtained by applying the Chebyshev-Halley root finding algorithms. We show that the dynamics near parameters where the family presents some degeneracy might be understood from the point of view of singular perturbations. More precisely, we relate the dynamics of those maps with the one of the McMullen family $M_{\lambda}(z)=z^4 + \lambda /z^2$, using quasi-conformal surgery.

Abstract:In this article, we consider two dynamical systems: the McMillan sextupole and octupole integrable mappings, originally proposed by Edwin McMillan. Both represent the simplest symmetric McMillan maps, characterized by a single intrinsic parameter. While these systems find numerous applications across various domains of mathematics and physics, some of their dynamical properties remain unexplored. We aim to bridge this gap by providing a comprehensive description of all stable trajectories, including the parametrization of invariant curves, Poincaré rotation numbers, and canonical action-angle variables.

Abstract:In this paper, we give a formula of the Hausdorff dimension of the boundary of the immediate basin of infinity of McMullen maps $f_p(z)=z^Q+p/z^Q$, where $Q\geq 3$ and $p$ is small.
