Abstract:The physiological and biochemical conditions of adults are relatively stable,while children are in the period of rapid growth and development with all kinds of physical and chemical indicators constantly changing,which brings great challenge to the pediatric clinical laboratories.In addition,children in different periods have different disease spectrum,among which many diseases are particular to children.This opens a new world for the pediatric laboratories.In this paper,a brief overview of problems,characteristics and future development of pediatric laboratory medicine is made.

Abstract:Clinical Pathology (CP) residency training was issued in the 90s in the world. Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education has mandate that the pathologist is a clinician ifrst and foremost. The goals of a training program in CP should be to develop a pathologist who is competent to act as a part of multidisciplinary healthcare team to help developing a diagnostic and therapeutic plan for patients, based on a procedure of test results interpretation. Accordingly, the Chinese Medical Doctor Association has also issued the standard training program for clinical pathologist which very focused on the resident competency in patient care. However, there are still absence of the effective approaches and evaluation tools in the training practices in China. Therefore, all the clinical pathologist training centers at present should probe the appropriate way for the competency training and evaluation in CP.

Abstract:Rapid development of laboratory medicine partly depends on well-trained clinical pathologists. Clinical pathology residency training programs have been launched for more than ten years in China, but presently, they are still confused with clinical technologists training programs in many institutes, which is partly attributed to the lack of test reports explanation processes. With new clinical tests springing up, explaining tests reports will be more and more requested by clinicians, accordingly, clinical pathologists will be more understood and required by the clinicians and the clinical pathologists training program will be certainly promoted.

Abstract:Objective: To review the training mode of clinical pharmacists in the United States for improving the training methods of pharmacy professionals in China thus cultivating clinical pharmacists who can effectively guide clinical rational use of drugs. Methods: Taking the Pharm.D. program of the USC school of pharmacy as an example, this paper briefly introduces how the United States develop Pharm.D. students' clinical practice ability and compare this mode with the current clinical pharmacist training mode in China. Results: China's pharmaceutical college curriculum is not reasonable enough. Due to lack of clinical thinking, the undergraduates are not competent to the job of clinical pharmacists. Conclusions: The traditional pharmacy training mode should be changed into a scientific one through improvement of the curriculum, educational system, continuing education, et al. with the objective of cultivating pharmaceutical professionalswith rich clinical experience.

Abstract:Pathology diagnosis need to show the whole level of morphological pathology, immunopathology and molecular pathology in the era of clinical molecular medicine and personalized medicine. Pathology should show the accurate diagnosis, prognosis and treatment information. How to train pathological and clinical residents is the question we have to face now. In this article,we summarized the teaching mode and methods for residents of pathology department of a medical university that cultured study ability and character , and we also added the molecular biology and scientific ability study, and 15 excellent residents were cultured for hospitals. These were confirmed feasible and recommendable by practice.
[Training Evaluation of Clinical Laboratory Excellence for Technologists from Some County and Township Hospitals in 31 Provinces of China].

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To improve clinical testing excellence through a large scale training project targeting laboratory operators at China's county and township hospitals.METHODS:The Chinese Society of Laboratory Medicine launched the "Clinical Laboratory Standards and Training Support Project" from 2010 to 2013. The project innovatively created a model of partnership between government, professional association, individual hospitals and other social forces. A survey before training was conducted in 445 county-hospital laboratories in 31 provinces. Six months after implementation, a sampling survey was conducted among 250 participating county hospitals in 9 provinces to assess the project.RESULTS:From 2010 to 2013, the project had covered 31 provinces of China, and trained technologists from 3 570 hospitals. After training, the average pass rate of assessment examination increased to 83.7% compared with 16.2% before the training. 29.6% hospitals added new biochemistry parameters, and the number of hospital with new hematology, immunology, and microbiology parameters accounted for 24.4%, 21.2% and 16.4%, respectively. The internal quality control and external quality assessment items also increased significantly. Biochemistry increased most, reaching 12.8% and 10.0%, and microbiology also reached 4.4% and 2.8% respectively. Bio-safety management capacities were also enhanced. The number of hospital implementing bio-safety risk assessment increased from 41.2% to 76.4%.CONCLUSIONS:This project helpfully fills an important technical gap of clinical testing in China's rural healthcare infrastructure. Through training, clinical laboratory operations has been standardized, and systems of internal quality control and external quality assessment are increasingly improved.

Abstract:The probe of clinical path in China,although being run for ten years,has found no widespread methods.With the release of Health Reform in 2010,clinical path,being an important part of the nationwide reform,has been experimentally conducted gradually.However,this exotic management theory still has various barriers to be overturned.Its interface cannot fit for hospital stuff,clinical environment and current insurance system.Only by diagnosing and solving the problems accurately can we introduce this advanced management theory to a Chinese characteristic institution and reach the goal of serving the populace.

Abstract:The purpose of this article is to explore the training patterns of general/family physicians in China by comparing with the programs in other countries.Education of general/family medicine overseas is commonly involved in three parts: undergraduate education,residency training and continuing education.Education of general/family medicine has four ways in China .That is knowledge education of general/family medicine for undergraduates in medical college,postgraduate,retraining programs and continuous medical education.This article is to discuss some issues related to such training,that is the enrollment criteria,compensation mechanism,multiple levels and channels of the training,and the accreditation of general/family physicians.

Abstract:My fascination on pathologic basis of disease dates back to the time when I was a medical student learning basal ganglia disease in China in the late 1970s. I never dreamed of practicing medicine in the United States of America until early 1992 when I entered my second year of postdoctoral training at Massachusetts General Hospital with my own NIH grant and met a physician from Columbia. He was a postdoctoral fellow in the lab next to ours. We became close friends. He strongly encouraged me to take the American medical board exam. I initially hesitated because I was not sure about my skills in the English language and I had been away from clinical practice for over 10 years. I explained my uneasiness to my friend and he offered his help. He let me use his board-review books. Thus, I tried the step one board exam and was surprised to have a decent score. I was determined to continue. After an intense review for a few more months after my regular working hours, I took and passed the step two.

Abstract:The postgraduate education of professional degree of clinical medicine and the standardized training system forresidency, as the important part of the personnel training of medical and health work in China, both have consistency in terms of training objectives and training processes. How to realize the integration of these two aspects is very meaningful. Nanjing Medical University launched pilot projects and made some explorations in the above-mentioned area. Abstract:Emergency specialist training in our country is still in its infancy and perfecting stage. The United States has perfect emergency specialist training system. From training target, access system, program personnel, training content and assessment and evaluation, this study explores the difference of the emergency physician training program of the University of Michigan and the emer-gency physician training rules of Beijing University. The emergency specialist training program in the United States has a strict elimination mechanism and a more rigorous training system for the training parties, making the training plan can be implemented and worth learning from.

Abstract:Abstract In the United States, the credentialing of PhD-scientists as medical directors of clinical laboratories is driven by formal postdoctoral training programs. Prior to acceptance in one these accredited fellowships, however, a trainee’s exposure to the field can be far less standardized, with significant ramifications for their awareness and competitiveness. In the current article, we describe our recent experiences in developing local, institution-based immersion opportunities for PhD experiences in the subdisciplines of laboratory medicine (clinical microbiology, clinical chemistry, and molecular genetics/genomics). It is our hope that this article—and a corresponding online survey—can prompt reflection and discussion on the status of early career training opportunities in these key clinical areas.

The status and future of clinical pathology in Korea

Abstract:Since its introduction half a century ago, modern clinical pathology in Korea has become an essential part of medical practice. The foundations of such fast development are manpower development systems, the government-certified clinical pathologist board system, the medical technologist license system, a medical insurance system providing universal coverage and the decisive introduction of modern technologies. Current issues in clinical pathology are the below cost fee system, the high rate at which claims are rejected, the government's intention to introduce an alternative fee system and 'overheated' competition among commercial laboratories. The 'fee-for-service system' inducing deviated medical practices and low publicity for the discipline-leading to reduction in the number of applications for residency-are serious issues which demand a solution. For continuing success, total laboratory automation (TLA), together with information and core laboratory systems, and an accreditation and audit system must be introduced. Clinical pathologists should, in addition, be trained as laboratory physicians. To extend laboratory usage by developing new demands and needs and expanding the future market for laboratories, effective publicity campaigns through the mass media and internet should be emphasized.

Abstract:Dermatopathology is an important branch of pathology and it's of great significance to improve the teaching quality in post-graduate education of dermatopathologist. The post-graduate dermatopathologist education in American has developed over the years characterized by clear goals, multiple teaching methods and specific evaluation tools and thus constructed a set of scientific, standardized and efficient dermatopathology training system. This article introduces the model of post-graduate education for dermatopathologist in the United States, and provide a valuable reference to the development of post-graduate dermatopathologist education as an independent component of pathologist training in China. It is suggested to expand the content of dermatopathology in the pathology resident training program, and increase the weight of importance of dermatopathology in the capacity assessment of pathology resident and integrate traditional teaching slides with digital slides during training. It is important to facilitate cooperation between dermatologists and pathologists in the field of residents’ training by academic organizations too.

Abstract:At present, construction of laboratory physician team in China is still at the primary stage.
