Abstract:Objective: To review the training mode of clinical pharmacists in the United States for improving the training methods of pharmacy professionals in China thus cultivating clinical pharmacists who can effectively guide clinical rational use of drugs. Methods: Taking the Pharm.D. program of the USC school of pharmacy as an example, this paper briefly introduces how the United States develop Pharm.D. students' clinical practice ability and compare this mode with the current clinical pharmacist training mode in China. Results: China's pharmaceutical college curriculum is not reasonable enough. Due to lack of clinical thinking, the undergraduates are not competent to the job of clinical pharmacists. Conclusions: The traditional pharmacy training mode should be changed into a scientific one through improvement of the curriculum, educational system, continuing education, et al. with the objective of cultivating pharmaceutical professionalswith rich clinical experience.
