Abstract:The title compound, (1R,2R,3R,5S)-3-(3-chlorophenyl)-1-hydroxy-2-methyl-6-phenyl-8-oxa-6-azabicyclo[3.2.1]octan-7-one, was synthesized and characterized by H-1 and C-13 NMR and HRMS spectroscopy. Its absolute molecular configuration was investigated by X-ray crystallography. The crystal structure analysis revealed that the structure exhibits intermolecular hydrogen bonds of the type O-H horizontal ellipsis O. The methyl group and chlorophenyl group are located in the cis configuration. The conformation is stabilized by weak intermolecular C-H... O interactions.

Abstract:Crystals of the title compound, C15H13ClN4O6, were obtained from a condensation reaction of 2-chloro-3,4-dimethoxybenzaldehyde and 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine. Within the dinitrophenyl group, the distances of 1.413 (3) and 1.405 (3) Angstrom for the C-C bonds close to the imino group are appreciably longer than the average distance of 1.372 (4) Angstrom for other aromatic C-C bonds in the same benzene ring. The benzene rings in the molecule are nearly coplanar, and the overlapped arrangement of benzene rings of neighboring molecules shows the existence of a pi-pi stacking interaction.

Abstract:In the title molecule, C18H11Cl3N2O2, the central benzene ring is oriented at 8.44 (12) and 70.57 (11)degrees with respect to the terminal chlorophenol and dichloropyridine rings, respectively. The molecular structure is stabilized by an intramolecular O-H center dot center dot center dot N hydrogen bond, which generates an S(6) ring motif. In the crystal, pi-pi stacking between parallel pyridine rings is observed [centroid-centroid distance = 3.6561 (14) angstrom].

Abstract:In the title compound, C14H16ClNO2, the cyclo-hexyl ring has a chair conformation. The dihedral angle between the benzene ring and the mean plane of the four planar C atoms of the cyclo-hexyl ring is 45.2 (3)°. The two carbonyl groups are trans to one another, with an O=C-C=O torsion angle of -137.1 (3)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds forming chains propagating along [001]. A region of disordered electron density, situated near the unit-cell corners, was treated using the SQUEEZE routine in PLATON [Spek (2009 ▶). Acta Cryst. D65, 148-155]. It gave a solvent-accessible void of ca 400 Å(3) for only 21 electrons. It is probably due to traces of the solvent of crystallization and was not taken into account during structure refinement.

Abstract:This work describes a comparative molecular structure of two hydroxychlorochalcones with an emphasis on their planarity. Hirshfeld surface analysis investigates the effect of ortho- and para-chlorine substitution on supramolecular arrangement and physical chemical properties. The molecular conformation of 2′-hydroxy-4′,6′-dimethyl-2-chlorochalcone and 2′-hydroxy-4′,6′-dimethyl-4-chlorochalcone chalcones was obtained through DFT with the exchange-correlation functional M06-2X and the 6-311++G(2d,2p) basis set, and the results were compared with the experimental X-ray data in order to get insights on the effect of ortho- and para-chlorine substitution. The charge transfer into entire main carbon chain was also investigated using frontier molecular orbitals (HOMO and LUMO), NBO, and MEP map in order to describe the comparative conformational stability due to the resonance effect produced by π electron displacements. Finally, the intermolecular observed interactions were analyzed by QTAIM, with the M06-2X/6-311G++(d,p) theory level.
