Abstract:Let $p$ be an odd prime. In this paper we write down the functional equations of Siegel Eisenstein series of degree $n$, level $p$ with quadratic or trivial characters. First we study the $U(p)$ action in the space of Siegel Eisenstein series to get $U(p)$-eigen functions. Secondly we show that the functional equations for $U(p)$-eigen Eisenstein series are quite simple and easy to write down. Consequently the matrix that represents functional equations of Siegel Eisenstein series are given by the products of simple matrices.

Existence for nonlinear fractional p-Laplacian equations on finite graphs

Abstract:In this paper, we assume that $q>0$, $p>1$ and $s\in(0,1)$ , and consider the following nonlinear fractional p-Laplacian equations on finite graphs: \begin{equation*} \left\{ \begin{array}{lll} \partial_t u^q(x,t)+(-\Delta)_p^su=0,\\[15pt] u(x,t)|_{t=0}=u_0>0, \end{array} \right. \end{equation*} where $(-\Delta)_p^s$ is fractional Laplace operator on finite graphs. We establish the existence of solutions to the above parabolic equation using an iterative approach, which is different from previous works on graphs. Furthermore, we also derive some energy estimate of the solution.

Abstract:For p>1 and φp(s):=|s|p-2s, we are concerned with the boundedness of solutions for the equation(φp(x′))′+αφp(x+)-βφp(x-)=f(t,x),where x+=max(x,0),x-=max(-x,0) and f(t,x) is 2π-periodic in t. When πpα1/p+πpβ1/p=2πn(the “resonant” situation) and f has limits f±(t) as x→±∞, there is a function Z(θ) plays a central role for the boundedness of solutions. More precisely, if Z(θ) is of constant sign, then all solutions are bounded. Moreover, such condition also guarantees the boundedness when (α,β) near a Fučik curve.

Abstract:Zhao established the following harmonic congruence for prime p > 3:Sigma(i,j,k>0i+j+k=p) 1/ijk equivalent to -2B(p-3) (mod p).In this note, the authors improve it to the following congruence for prime p > 5:Sigma(i,j,k>0i+j+k=p) 1/ijk equivalent to 12B(p-3)/p-3 - 3B(2p-4)/p-2 (mod p(2)).Meanwhile, they also improve a generalization of Zhao's congruence and extend Eisenstein's congruence.

Abstract:Let p be an odd prime, and let ∑n=0∞anXn∈Fp[[X]] be the reduction modulo p of the Artin-Hasse exponential series. We obtain a polynomial expression for akp in terms of those arp with r , for even k . A conjectural analogue covering the case of odd k can be stated in various polynomial forms, essentially in terms of the polynomial γ(X)=∑n=1p−2(Bn/n)Xp−n , where Bn denotes the n th Bernoulli number. We prove that γ(X) satisfies the functional equation γ(X−1)−γ(X)=£1(X)+Xp−1−wp−1 in Fp[X] , where £1(X) and wp are the truncated logarithm and the Wilson quotient. This is an analogue modulo p of a functional equation, in Q[[X]] , established by Zagier for the power series ∑n=1∞(Bn/n)Xn . The proof of our functional equation establishes a connection with a result of Nielsen of 1915, of which we provide a fresh proof. Our polynomial framing allows us to derive congruences for certain numerical sums involving divided Bernoulli numbers.

In this paper, we calculate the value of Gauss sum $G{\left( \chi \right)} = {\sum {_{{x \in \mathbb{F}^{ * }_{q} }} \chi {\left( x \right)}\zeta ^{{T{\left( x \right)}}}_{p} } }$over ${\mathbb F}$ q , where q = p f , $f = \frac{{\varphi {\left( m \right)}}}{4}$, χ is a multiplicative character of ${\mathbb F}$ q and T is the trace map from${\mathbb F}$ q to ${\mathbb F}$ p . Under our assumptions, G(χ) belongs to the decomposition field K of p in ℚ(ζ m ) and Kis an imaginary quartic abelian number field. When the Galois group Gal(K/ℚ) is cyclic, we havestudied this cyclic case in another paper: "Gauss sums of index four: (1) cyclic case" (accepted byActa Mathematica Sinica, 2003). In this paper we deal with the non–cyclic case.

Abstract:We derive a monotonicity formula and classify finite Morse index solutions (positive or sign-changing, radial or not) to the following triharmonic Lane-Emden equation: (-Δ)^3 u=|u|^p-1u in ℝ^n, where p is below the Joseph-Lundgren exponent. As a byproduct we also obtain a new monotonicity formula for the triharmonic maps.

Abstract:We prove that the fundamental semi-group $e^{it\left( {m^2 I + \left| \Delta \right|} \right)^{1/2} }$ (m ≠ 0) of the Klein-Gordon equation is bounded on the modulation space M p,q s (ℝ n ) for all 0 < p, q ⩽ ∞ and s ∈ ℝ. Similarly, we prove that the wave semi-group $e^{it\left| \Delta \right|^{1/2} }$ is bounded on the Hardy type modulation spaces µ p,q s (ℝ n ) for all 0 < p, q ⩽ ∞, and s ∈ ℝ. All the bounds have an asymptotic factor t n|1/p−1/2| as t goes to the infinity. These results extend some known results for the case of p ⩾ 1. Also, some applications for the Cauchy problems related to the semi-group $e^{it\left( {m^2 I + \left| \Delta \right|} \right)^{1/2} }$ are obtained. Finally we discuss the optimum of the factor t n|1/p−1/2| and raise some unsolved problems.

Under the assumptions [(ℤ/mℤ)* : 〈p〉] = 4 and −1 ∉ 〈p〉, the decomposition field of p in thecyclotomic field ℚ(ζ m ) is an imaginary quartic (abelian) field. And G (χ) is an integer in K. We dealwith the case where K is cyclic in this paper and leave the non–cyclic case to the next paper.

Abstract:Let p=2n+1 be an odd prime. In this paper, we mainly evaluate determinants involving (j+k/p)±(j-k/p), where (·/p) denotes the Legendre symbol. When p≡14, we determine the characteristic polynomials of the matrices [(j+k/p)+(j-k/p)]_1≤ j,k≤ n and [(j+k/p)-(j-k/p)]_1≤ j,k≤ n, and also prove that |x+(j+k/p)+(j-k/p)+(j/p)y+(k/p)z+(jk/p)w|_1≤ j,k≤ n = (-p)^(p-5)/4((p-1/2)^2wx-(p-1/2y-1)(p-1/2z-1)), which was previously conjectured by the second author.

Abstract:We obtain the one-dimensional symmetry and monotonicity of the entire positive solutions to some reaction-diffusion equations involving fractional p -Laplacian by virtue of the sliding method. More precisely, we consider the following problem where s ∈ ( 0 , 1 ) , p ≥ 2 , ( - Δ ) p s is the fractional p -Laplacian, f ⁢ ( t , u ) is some continuous function, the domain Ω ⊂ R n is unbounded and Ω c = R n ∖ Ω . Firstly, we establish a maximum principle involving the parabolic p -Laplacian operator. Then, under certain conditions of f , we prove the asymptotic behavior of solutions far away from the boundary uniformly in t ∈ R . Finally, the sliding method is implemented to derive the monotonicity and uniqueness of the bounded positive entire solutions. To our best knowledge, there has not been any results on the symmetry and monotonicity properties of solutions to the parabolic fractional p -Laplacian equations before.

For example, for $\lambda=-1$ we obtain $$ {}_4F_3\bigg[\begin{matrix}\alpha&1+\frac{\alpha}{2}&\alpha&\alpha\\ &\frac{\alpha}{2}&1&1\end{matrix}\bigg|-1\bigg]_{p-1}\equiv\frac{\alpha+\langle-\alpha\rangle_p}{\Gamma_p(1+\alpha)\Gamma_p(1-\alpha)}\pmod{p^3}, $$ where $\langle x\rangle_p$ is the least nonnegative residue of $x$ modulo $p$ and $\Gamma_p$ is the well-known $p$-adic gamma function. As applications, we confirm several conjectures posed by Sun recently; for example, we determine $$\sum_{k=0}^{p-1}(-1)^k(2k+1)\sum_{j=0}^k\binom {-x}j^3\binom{x-1}{k-j}^3$$ modulo $p^2$ for any prime $p>3$ and $p$-adic integer $x$.
