Abstract:Based on the attenuation theory of Gamma ray under the count rate model,a density measurement system for the endothermic hydrocarbon fuels at high pressure and low temperature was designed,with pressure up to 10 MPa and temperature from 233 K to 333 K. The combined relative standard uncertainty of the density measurement was determined to be 0.13%-1.46%. N-hexane and the binary mixture of n-heptane and n-octane with the mass ratio 1:1 were used to calibrate the density measurement system. The results showed that the maximum relative deviation was 0.67%,and the absolute mean values of relative deviation were 0. 22% and 0.07%,respectively. Then one kind of hydrocarbon fuel A was used for density measurement at pressures of 0.7 MPa,3.0 MPa and 6.0 MPa,and temperature from 234. 15 to 323.45 K. The isobaric thermal expansion coefficient was also calculated. Results showed that the isobaric thermal expansion coefficient increases with the test temperature under all three pressures.When temperature is low,the high pressure is not conducive to heat diffusion in the fluid. In addition,it was found that when the temperature is close to 230.65 K,the hydrocarbon fuel A is solidified in the pre-cooling pipeline,leading to a sharp increase in the working pressure of the system. This presented density measurement system is expected to serve as a stepping-stone for the development of the density measurement for the hydrocarbon fuels at low temperature.
