Abstract:Considering the fact that the current literature lacks both effective development mechanism for the progressive collapses and the importance evaluation method for evaluating different types of elements in the process of progressive collapses of flexible cable-strut tensile structures,a specific engineering case based on the ANSYS/LS-DYNA analysis platform was studied and the dynamic analysis method for the instantaneous unloading of full-power equivalent load was proposed in this paper. The dynamic responses of the whole-process progressive collapses and the collapse modes of the structural collapses resulted from the removals of elements were studied.Following this,the method for element importance classification based on the collapse modes was proposed,and the importance coefficient index was introduced after making comparisons of the node displacements before and after the removal of the elements.Furthermore,the correlations between the importance coefficients of various types of elements and the element importance classifications and the corresponding collapse mode caused by the removal of each element were further verified. Finally,the influences of design parameters on the structural performance of progressive collapses were analyzed. The results reveal that:（1）The removals of different elements produced different dynamic responses and collapse modes. The removals of inner hoop cable and outer hoop cable produced the largest dynamic responses,followed by the removals of top hoop cable and the remaining elements resulted in least dynamic responses.（2）Each element bore different importance coefficient. The importance coefficients of outer hoop cable and inner hoop cable exceeded 0.18. The removals of these elements would lead to the progressive collapses of the structure and they were the key elements. The importance coefficients of top hoop cable ranged from0.18 to 0.07. The removal of these types of elements would generate partial structural collapses,and they were important elements. As the importance coefficients of the remaining elements,were all below 0.07,the removals of the aforementioned elements would not cause progressive collapses,and they could be classified as common elements.（3）Design parameters such as prestress level,cross section of the elements,radius of the hoop cable and the length of compression barshad little influences on the anti-collapse capability of the structure. The number of the cable-barunits generated significance impacts on the importance coefficient and collapse mode of each structural element.
