Abstract:In the present work, the expressions of volume exergy transfer (VET) coefficient and Nusselt number in vertical moving bed are derived by applying the non-equilibrium thermodynamics theory to the second law analysis. A steady state calculation model is established to investigate the exergy transfer performance of sinter cooling process in moving bed, and the verification of calculation model is performed by using the experimental data. The effects of gas inlet parameters, namely air mass flow rate and air inlet temperature on the exergy transfer performance in vertical tank are analyzed numerically. The results show that the pressure VET coefficient tends to increase first and then decrease with increasing the bed layer height. With the increase of air mass flow rate, the temperature VET coefficient decreases when the bed layer height is less than 5.5 m, while the VET coefficient also decreases when the bed layer height is less than 6.5 m, and vice versa. The increase of air inlet temperature only leads to the increase of VET coefficient. The VET Nusselt number decreases as the Reynolds number increases, and would be less than zero in the higher Reynolds number region, which is pointless for intensifying the sinter cooling process.
