Abstract:In this paper the Orlicz–Minkowski problem, a generalization of the classical Minkowski problem, is studied. Using the variational method, we obtain a new existence result of solutions to this problem for general measures.

Abstract:Recently, Boroczky, Lutwak, Yang, and Zhang [J. Amer. Math. Soc. 26 (2013), pp. 831-852] established necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of solutions to the logarithmic Minkowski problem for origin-symmetric measures. We establish the existence of solutions to the logarithmic Minkowski problem for non-symmetric measures and demonstrate the non-uniqueness of solutions to the logarithmic Minkowski problem.

Abstract: The $L_p$-Minkowski problem deals with the existence of closed convex hypersurfaces in $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$ with prescribed $p$-area measures. It extends the classical Minkowski problem and embraces several important geometric and physical applications. The Existence of solutions has been obtained in the sub-critical case $p>-n-1$, but the problem remains widely open in the super-critical case $p<-n-1$. In this paper, we introduce new ideas to solve the problem for all the super-critical exponents. A crucial ingredient in our proof is a topological method based on the calculation of the homology of a topological space of ellipsoids.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the existence of multiple solutions to the $L_{p}$-Minkowski problem. We prove if $p<-n$, then for any integer $N>0$, there exists a smooth positive function f on $\mathbb S^n$ such that the $L_{p}$-Minkowski problem admits at least N different smooth solutions. We also construct nonsmooth, positive function f for which the $L_{p}$-Minkowski problem has infinitely many $C^{1,1}$ solutions.

Abstract:In this paper, the dual Orlicz curvature measure is proposed and its basic properties are provided. A variational formula for the dual Orlicz-quermassintegral is established in order to give a geometric interpretation of the dual Orlicz curvature measure. Based on the established variational formula, a solution to the dual Orlicz-Minkowski problem regarding the dual Orlicz curvature measure is provided.

Abstract:Given a real number $q$ and a star body in the $n$-dimensional Euclidean space, the generalized dual curvature measure of a convex body was introduced by Lutwak-Yang-Zhang [43]. The corresponding generalized dual Minkowski problem is studied in this paper. By using variational methods, we solve the generalized dual Minkowski problem for $q<0$, and the even generalized dual Minkowski problem for $0\leq q\leq1$. We also obtain a sufficient condition for the existence of solutions to the even generalized dual Minkowski problem for $1<q<n$.

Abstract:This paper introduces a new concept of exceptional family for variational inequality problems with a general convex constrained set. By using this new concept, the authors establish a general sufficient condition for the existence of a solution to the problem. This condition is weaker than many known solution conditions and it is also necessary for pseudomonotone variational inequalities. Suffi-cient solution conditions for a class of nonlinear complementarity problems with Po mappings are also obtained.

Abstract:For convex bodies K in $\mathbb {R}^n$ containing the origin in their interiors, the general dual volume and the general dual Orlicz curvature measure $\widetilde{C}_{G, \psi }(K, \cdot )$ were recently introduced for certain classes of functions G and $\psi $. We extend these concepts to more general functions G and to compact convex sets K containing the origin (but not necessarily in their interiors). Some basic properties of the general dual volume and of the dual Orlicz curvature measure are provided which are required to study a Minkowski-type problem for the dual Orlicz curvature measure. The Minkowski problem asks to characterize Borel measures $\mu $ on the unit sphere for which there is a convex body K in $\mathbb {R}^n$ containing the origin such that $\mu $ equals $\widetilde{C}_{G, \psi }(K, \cdot )$, up to a constant. A major step in the analysis concerns discrete measures $\mu $, for which we prove the existence of convex polytopes containing the origin in their interiors solving the Minkowski problem. Under mild conditions on G and $\psi $, solutions are obtained for general measures by an approximation argument. Our results generalize several previous works and provide more precise information about the solutions of the Minkowski problem when $\mu $ is discrete or even.

Abstract:We provide a direct proof of existence and uniqueness of weak solutions to a broad family of strongly nonlinear elliptic equations with lower order terms. The leading part of the operator satisfies general growth conditions settling the problem in the framework of fully anisotropic and inhomogeneous Musielak--Orlicz spaces generated by an $N$-function $M:\Omega\times\mathbb{R}^d\to[0,\infty)$. Neither $\nabla_2$ nor $\Delta_2$ conditions are imposed on $M$. Our results cover among others problems with anisotropic polynomial, Orlicz, variable exponent, and double phase growth.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider an extremal problem associated with the solution to a boundary value problem. Our main focus is on establishing a variational formula for a functional related to the $\mathbf{p}$-harmonic measure, from which a new measure is derived. This further motivates us to study the Minkowski problem for this new measure. As a main result, we prove the existence of solutions to the $L_q$ Minkowski problem associated with the $\mathbf{p}$-harmonic measure for $0<q<1$ and $1<\mathbf{p}\ne n+1$.
